so I just read that Phaneuf's ntc doesn't kick in til next year. Should they complete this collapse, something will obviously happen there. Carlyle would be the intelligent move, but I would think a Phaneuf trade or some kind of stupid big signing would be more in their style.

with all the gold medal olympians on the team they were favoured to win the president's trophy and the stanley cup. they thoroughly outplayed all their opponents all year long so this past week is a total shock.

The guy has been forever awful. And now he has an albatross contract. wings still have are still at 60% of getting into the playoffs but outside of Nyquist no one seems to give a fuck. In the last 6 games, they scored 17-18 goals? And Nyquist contributed 9 of those. They need to make it to 7th and play vs. Pitsburg if they make the playoffs and want something more than a quick 4 game bounce. The only plus side of this year is that all these old farts are finally coming of the books. The downside is, Holland is going to get some more, different, old farts. And also probably start Nyquist and Tatar in Grand Rapids to 'season' them or some bullshit like that.

Reimer is not good enough to carry a team past a better team. Rask > Reimer, which is why he has a bronze medal. Boston Team > Leaf Team. Phaneuf on Tim&Sid.

That's one damn banged up team playing way too much subpar talent due to injuries. Healthy, they'd probably be fighting for top 3 in the division. I bet they bring back Alfie. They'd be nuts to not make room in the top six for Nyquist and Tatar as well. I definitely think the Leafs last year were a tease. It was pretty much the same as this year. Crap possession, crap defense, propped up by good play from top forwards and good goal play depsite the barrage the team let up each night. The shortened season also probably helped them not face this kind of collapse, because getting outshot and out possessed badly each night is not a recipe for success

and then the Captain calls in to call them on their shit ![]() http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/tim-and-sid-rant-on-leafs-phaneuf/ Sid is commentating hurt people, he has a sore throat. i don't get why every one is so angry... the leafs have been really entertaining the last 2 weeks. right after MLSE lies about another Reimer concussion ... Reimer's play level plummets (which is what happens after a concussion) and they lose a bunch of high scoring games... what more could you ask for ? last night's game was great fun.

what is the point of celebrating? the Canadiens are just going to massacre the Leafs in the next round any way. this team now has about as much chance of winning the cup as the '78 leafs had of beating the '78 canadiens.. might as well just get as good a draft pick as possible.

It's a real shame and there's a lot more problems other than goaltending. There's a long, long list like those stupid penalties. At least Gardiner is starting to put a few more in the net, but that doesn't negate his flaws. I find myself yelling at him a lot these days. Oh brother. The team really hasn't been close to the same for several reasons. Last year we absolutely dominated fight. It's the glass half full half empty all over again and reason people are latching onto it now is because of that losing streak.

I think they did have a bit more even production last year vs it being so top heavy this year with Kessel and JVR. I don't know about fight really And by tease I mean that they were (and still are) nothing more than a bubble team, anywhere from like 11-6 in the east depending on how lucky they get and how everyone else fares. They've got some pieces, but have too many holes on the blueline and play a shitty system McDonagh just fucking roofed a pretty wrister right over the glove and just under the bar in NYR-PHI. God I love that man. He already was fantastic the past two years, but now he's really evolving offensively. That's goal 14 and he'll probably finish just below 50 points.

After Saturday's loss to Detroit, coach Yeo came to his press conference with a list of stats to try to show that this wasn't another late-season collapse like we've seen the past three years, despite the fact that we have a sub-.500 record since the Olympic break. Sure enough, we're losing, 1-5, to the Canucks, at home. This team is a fucking joke.

Rask vs. Chicago Niemi vs. Peg Miller vs. Wild It would seem like Miller would be a lock because the Mild suck and this will be their back to back game and they are playing away but Miller in the last 3 games has a 3.333 GAA and an .875 save. Rask vs. Chicago seems like a lock, he is playing godly and you have to assume Boston wants to get revenge... Niemi vs the shitty Peg. on one hand SJ are playing great, on the other hand this is Niemi. He can either pitch a shut out or let in 5 goals on 4 shots.
