Plus side for them is at least if they miss, a lot of the young guys did look much better as the season progressed. Especially Nyquist actually, He might be a legit top line player.

so I just read that Phaneuf's ntc doesn't kick in til next year. Should they complete this collapse, something will obviously happen there. Carlyle would be the intelligent move, but I would think a Phaneuf trade or some kind of stupid big signing would be more in their style.

Glad I picked up Nyquist the other day, 2 goals immediately. Red Wings are unbelievable.

Short schedule tonight, but Rangers-Flyers and Vancouver-Minny are big games. Rangers and Philly both likely fall in the top 3, but a W for either helps them ensure that. Minny is pretty much in, but continuing to win should really lock them into the 7 seed. Vancouver still has like a 2 percent chance haha

ya, the leafs are a disaster,
with all the gold medal olympians on the team they were favoured to win the president's trophy and the stanley cup.
they thoroughly outplayed all their opponents all year long so this past week is a total shock.

Who is going to be dumb enough to pick up Phaneuf? The guy has been forever awful. And now he has an albatross contract.

wings still have are still at 60% of getting into the playoffs but outside of Nyquist no one seems to give a fuck. In the last 6 games, they scored 17-18 goals? And Nyquist contributed 9 of those. They need to make it to 7th and play vs. Pitsburg if they make the playoffs and want something more than a quick 4 game bounce.
The only plus side of this year is that all these old farts are finally coming of the books. The downside is, Holland is going to get some more, different, old farts. And also probably start Nyquist and Tatar in Grand Rapids to 'season' them or some bullshit like that.

nah, boston was better.
Reimer is not good enough to carry a team past a better team.

Rask > Reimer, which is why he has a bronze medal.
Boston Team > Leaf Team.

I wouldn't say don't give a fuck. That's one damn banged up team playing way too much subpar talent due to injuries. Healthy, they'd probably be fighting for top 3 in the division.

I bet they bring back Alfie. They'd be nuts to not make room in the top six for Nyquist and Tatar as well.

I definitely think the Leafs last year were a tease. It was pretty much the same as this year. Crap possession, crap defense, propped up by good play from top forwards and good goal play depsite the barrage the team let up each night. The shortened season also probably helped them not face this kind of collapse, because getting outshot and out possessed badly each night is not a recipe for success

Tim & Sid going to town on the Captain....
and then the Captain calls in to call them on their shit

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/tim-and-sid-rant-on-leafs-phaneuf/

Sid is commentating hurt people, he has a sore throat.

i don't get why every one is so angry... the leafs have been really entertaining the last 2 weeks.

right after MLSE lies about another Reimer concussion ... Reimer's play level plummets (which is what happens after a concussion) and they lose a bunch of high scoring games... what more could you ask for ?

last night's game was great fun.

Why are they angry? They're angry because they want the Leafs to win. Fans want their teams to win, despite reality.

this mentality reminds me of that legendary 1978 yonge street celebration party when the Leafs beat the NY Islanders to make it to the final 4... the final 4. wow.

what is the point of celebrating? the Canadiens are just going to massacre the Leafs in the next round any way.

this team now has about as much chance of winning the cup as the '78 leafs had of beating the '78 canadiens.. might as well just get as good a draft pick as possible.

I love how the goal that they show to blame Phaneuf for is where he's fighting for the puck against two people, loses it, then someone who isn't even Phaneuf's check scores a goal on which Bernier literally just stands there.

lol I feel bad for Reimer he's really getting hung out to dry by everyone. It's a real shame and there's a lot more problems other than goaltending. There's a long, long list like those stupid penalties. At least Gardiner is starting to put a few more in the net, but that doesn't negate his flaws. I find myself yelling at him a lot these days. Oh brother.

Nah, they weren't. The team really hasn't been close to the same for several reasons. Last year we absolutely dominated fight. It's the glass half full half empty all over again and reason people are latching onto it now is because of that losing streak.

I think they did have a bit more even production last year vs it being so top heavy this year with Kessel and JVR. I don't know about fight really

And by tease I mean that they were (and still are) nothing more than a bubble team, anywhere from like 11-6 in the east depending on how lucky they get and how everyone else fares. They've got some pieces, but have too many holes on the blueline and play a shitty system

McDonagh just fucking roofed a pretty wrister right over the glove and just under the bar in NYR-PHI. God I love that man. He already was fantastic the past two years, but now he's really evolving offensively. That's goal 14 and he'll probably finish just below 50 points.

So in other news, the Wild are collapsing. AGAIN.

After Saturday's loss to Detroit, coach Yeo came to his press conference with a list of stats to try to show that this wasn't another late-season collapse like we've seen the past three years, despite the fact that we have a sub-.500 record since the Olympic break.

Sure enough, we're losing, 1-5, to the Canucks, at home.

This team is a fucking joke.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

Brian Mcgratten has a CAREER HIGH 4 goals this season. Tyler, Seguin, Alex Ovechkin, Thomas Hertl, Martin St. Louis and probably a few others I missed have had that many goals in ONE GAME this season!

What a useful player to have on your team...

Okay TL, I am in a razor's edge 6-5 in my fantasy, I am behind in both GAA and Saves%, who do I play tomorrow:
Rask vs. Chicago
Niemi vs. Peg
Miller vs. Wild

It would seem like Miller would be a lock because the Mild suck and this will be their back to back game and they are playing away but Miller in the last 3 games has a 3.333 GAA and an .875 save.
Rask vs. Chicago seems like a lock, he is playing godly and you have to assume Boston wants to get revenge...
Niemi vs the shitty Peg. on one hand SJ are playing great, on the other hand this is Niemi. He can either pitch a shut out or let in 5 goals on 4 shots.
