My immediate impulse is to stop going to those parts of the internet and go back to pretending they don't exist. But seriously, that's some toxic ideology brewing over there. Does that not seem like the sort of thing that can lead to terrorist groups? Time to shut down reddit and put some redditors behind bars for conspiring against the state. We have free speech and all but that doesn't mean you can say anything on a well respected and widely popular internet forum. We cant have this talk of revolution and resistance just going unpunished. Will trump survive? it is starting to look increasingly unlikely. Would be a bit early for the gop to drop him or would pence be strong enough to still get a lot of things done after a hypothetical resignation from trump? Wonder who will have the honor to bring trump the news, must be fun to say to trump "you are fired" lol. Oh well we will see,and if he doesn't fall now then maybe with the next story. The drama continues,
What? You want to lock people up for "conspiring against the state"? You know there are countries that you might enjoy, where they already do that: Russia, Turkey, China, North Korea - in general every dictatorship ever. You can't seriously advocate for crackdown on public unrest veiled by vague threats of terrorism.

Illegally conspiring to topple the state is a crime in most countries, not only in dictatorships.
I don't think that just posting random shit on reddit qualifies for that, though.
But if i were to actually set up a group of armed men with the explicit goal of marching on berlin and taking over the bundestag, that would be illegal, no matter what i would actually do after that armed takeover. On the other hand, if i were to set up a party with the explicit goal of getting elected into the Bundestag, that would be fine.
Being a democracy does not mean tolerating everything. A democracy needs to be able to defend itself from those forces which would want to overturn it, otherwise it is not stable.
Once again, i don't think that just saying random shit anonymously on reddit qualifies here. However, if you do something more specific with a credible threat of organising an armed revolt, that is illegal in pretty much any country.

Im expecting some blowback from the White House soon. An obvious one would be canceling the press briefings to satiate Trumps rage (which would make things worse ofc). Regardless, expect something.

Good morning, Mr. President.
I feel like I need a caffeine IV drip just to be prepared for the rest of the week.

Ahhh. At last he gets the phone back. Rod Rosenstein is absolute toast, I think.
Pity there's no conspicuous admissions here. I can't wait to hear all the illegal things the Obama administration did that needed a special counsel.

Doubt this will change anything about Fox, but something that might matter to this thread.

Donald Trump's campaign made contact with Russia at least 18 times during his presidential race, according to a new report.
The interactions had previously been kept secret by the campaign but are now being reviewed as part of the FBI and congressional investigation into Trump's relationship with Russia.
Conversations between members of Trump's team and high-ranking officials including setting up a special backchannel for communications between the President and Putin, Reuters reported. That would allow the two talk without involving US national security officials.
Such discussions accelerated after Donald Trump won the election, in November.
The 18 calls and electronic messages took place between April and November 2016 as hackers engaged in what US intelligence concluded in January was part of a Kremlin campaign to discredit the vote and influence the outcome of the election in favour of Trump over his Democratic challenger, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
Those discussions focused on mending US-Russian economic relations strained by sanctions imposed on Moscow, cooperating in fighting Islamic State in Syria and containing a more assertive China, the sources said.
In January, the Trump White House initially denied any contacts with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign. The White House and advisers to the campaign have since confirmed four meetings between Kislyak and Trump advisers during that time.
The people who described the contacts to Reuters said they had seen no evidence of wrongdoing or collusion between the campaign and Russia in the communications reviewed so far. But the disclosure could increase the pressure on Trump and his aides to provide the FBI and Congress with a full account of interactions with Russian officials and others with links to the Kremlin during and immediately after the 2016 election.
The White House did not respond to requests for comment. Flynn's lawyer declined to comment. In Moscow, a Russian foreign ministry official declined to comment on the contacts and referred Reuters to the Trump administration.
In the conversations during the campaign, Russian officials emphasized a pragmatic, business-style approach and stressed to Trump associates that they could make deals by focusing on common economic and other interests and leaving contentious issues aside, the sources said.
Veterans of previous election campaigns said some contact with foreign officials during a campaign was not unusual, but the number of interactions between Trump aides and Russian officials and others with links to Putin was exceptional.
"It's rare to have that many phone calls to foreign officials, especially to a country we consider an adversary or a hostile power," Richard Armitage, a Republican and former deputy secretary of state, told Reuters.

I am pretty sure those groups are closely monitored by intellegence services. They typically come from far right OR left, and both have succeeded in the past in countries like China, Russia, Cuba (left) Spain and Italy (right.)
Actions speak louder than words. If some of these guys tried to organize something like a paramilitary drill of taking over a government building, I believe it would be sniffed out by the FBI, and be shut down.

Oh, the alt-right news story that is repeated over and over, even though there has never been presented a shred of proof? The same Trump threw out a journalist on camera for asking difficult questions about? Yeah right... it is close to pizza-gate level.

Pour one out for the low level staff that will have to lawyer up. It can be amazing expensive and there is almost no way for them to get any sort of assistance.

Hmm. I guess Trump does believe that actually happened despite no evidence whatsoever and being roundly repudiated by everyone in question, so he could be talking about that.

Isn't situations like this part of why you are part of Unions? They help with workplace issues and lawyers when actually needed. Don't see why they would be for most of them.

I think the aides are effectively political appointees no?
And if you are the assistant to someone who does something wrong, you end up implicated just by being close to them.
I feel bad for them, but if they aren't career public servants and they thought that this admin was a ticket to their future - well, get off the train right now and lawyer up friends.

honestly, it's hard to tell the fire from the smoke but i'm starting to think it won't matter - trump is gonna either burn to death or suffocate. it's almost certain mueller will dig up some nasty, with the only question being if it can be traced directly to trump or to (only) his associates. trump might survive, but he'll be severely damaged. and here it's not the captain going down with the ship, it's gonna be the ship going down with the captain.

Someone should ask Ryan or McConnell why they didn't appoint anyone to investigate all the illegal things Obama did since Trump would obviously not make such a claim without having seen proof /s

I don't think I've ever been happy to hear about someone's death until now. What a terrible man who ran a terrible network. This about sums it up:
