Question for Hillary supporters: If a Republican wins the presidency, would you rather it be Trump or Cruz?
Trump, without a doubt. I'd rather have someone driven by greed and ego, than driven by religion. I agree. Plus, I think that Trump being the head of the Republican party would do more damage to it than Cruz would, and I really want the Republican party to be forced to take a step back and get their shit together and become even half as competent as the current Democratic party. It'd be nice to have two legitimate parties again. That's what Trump's doing - he stands for tax reform, healthcare reform, immigration reform, and wants to change the defense sector and fight offshoring. Trump stands for Trump. He will say anything to get elected, so of course he is going to say those things.

Let's dispel this notion that Trump doesn't think he can make America Great Again. He believes in himself.

I love how everyone hangs on every word of Trump, like a crack addict licking up the remaining powder on the desk, but then the whole "white people don't know what it's like to live in ghettos, and don't know what it's like to be poor" by Sanders comment just gets a pretty glancing blow in the media.
10/10 media.

A senior White House aide has pledged to release how many terrorism suspects and civilian casualties the US has killed in its drone strikes since 2009, the first-ever disclosure surrounding the US’s most controversial lethal operations.
Lisa Monaco, Barack Obama’s counter-terrorism and homeland security adviser, said in a Washington speech on Monday that the expanded transparency would bolster public support for drone strikes and other counter-terrorism practices that she indicated would last “for years to come”.
The long-desired disclosure will cover strikes in undeclared US battlefields, such as Pakistan, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and elsewhere, rather than the active war theaters of Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. There was no specific date set for release, White House officials said, though Monaco said it will occur in the “coming weeks”.
“Not only is greater transparency the right thing to do, it is the best way to maintain the legitimacy of our counter-terrorism actions and the broad support of our allies,” Monaco told the Council on Foreign Relations on Monday.
As Monaco spoke, the Pentagon confirmed it had conducted a massive airstrike in Somalia that left 150 people dead, one the largest casualty totals in a US military attack of the post-9/11 era.
Monaco said the administration intends the disclosure to occur annually, though she and her colleagues have less than a year remaining in office and it is unclear if their successors will institutionalize the disclosure of what Obama aides have for years suggested was a highly classified assessment. A key congressional leader argued on Monday for codifying the disclosure in law.

His plan is to say the things that will get him elected. He knows how to sell himself and work the media.
Once elected though? Fuck if I know, for all we know he could be a huge troll and go back to holding all the liberal positions he held previously. He is a total wildcard and I definitely think the criticism of him from the other GOP candidates that he isn't really a conservative are pretty spot on. If I were a republican voter I wouldn't trust him to side with the right on any social issue. Economically of course he is conservative because the Right's philosophy is more or less trickle down economics which benefit him personally and those of his upper class ilk. This way he can easily influence economic policy the way he wants.
He doesn't have any grand secret plans but he probably just wants to keep or enhance the conservative economic policies.

The difference between Sanders and Trump is that Sanders doesn't come across as a nut with DID by saying one thing one day and then saying literally the exact opposite the next. Not only that, but Sanders doesn't have a laundry list of incredibly racist, sexist, and generally horrible things that he's said to crowds of thousands of people and/or on national television.

Thing is, I don't believe Sander's platform arises from a desire to get votes. Sanders has an extensive history of advocating for the same platform, and I genuinely believe that he thinks his agenda will help make America a much better place.
Whether it would is a totally different question, but I'm confident Sanders think it would and is advocating for his platform from a desire to make the country better, rather than a "I wanna be president, what's the best shit I can say to get me elected and secure some legacy" approach.

So there's nothing wrong with the polices I just listed, it's just that you believe he wants to replace those policies with a lack of policies? Those were not policies, they were grand statements that vaguely resemble policies. Trump believes in Trump, nothing more. He will tell you anything to get your vote. Why am I supposed to believe the person funding their own candidacy in any way worse at saying things to get votes than the 5 other candidates who are career politicians? What is it about him?
Secondly, how can you say his strategy is to say anything to get votes when tons of people hate him at almost every level?

I can't agree he "wrote off" the experiences of poor whites. He was trying to talk directly to the situation that the black community faces. Talking about one while in an area with a large black community doesn't suddenly mean he doesn't care about everyone else. I mean his whole message is to raise EVERYONE up by trying to balance out the economics so they aren't so skewed toward the rich. If you are poor he is trying to help you period. Trying to court some of the black vote who have more trust in Hillary due to her track record (regardless of how you think it really is there is a perception she has done a lot of good for them) does not mean anything of the sort you are implying imo. The country is diverse as hell so you tailor your message to every group that has their own concerns and desires. His is easy to fit because he is mostly speaking across racial/cultural borders because the overwhelming majority of the country isn't in the 1%.

Then what are his secret plans? His plan is to say the things that will get him elected. He knows how to sell himself and work the media. He plans on getting elected and then seeing what he can get done. He is running in the primary in a party that has bankrupt it of any public trust over a 16 year period, so he is successful. But only due to 16 years of abject failure by the Republican party. Trump is simply the man saying he can do better than the Republicans and they have no worth while argument to counter that. Basically you just look at his behavior the last few decades which has all been self promotion for his own economic gain. Now contrast that to Sanders who (as GH has pointed out) still relatively unknown to a lot of people while having a record of fighting to help people. Everyone basically knew who Trump was before he started his campaign because he has spent decades embedding himself into pop culture.

Do you every post anything of insight or do you just ask questions of people until they get bored and stop responding? There is a lot of take in this relationship and not a lot of give. Also, I would point out that you specialize in "leading" questions, which is allowed in cross examinations, but frowned upon in general discussions.
