it's horrible design because blizzard is forcing the unit into a role instead of giving a player options...

the only thing you can entomb are mineral lines

look at all the other spells, there are multiple uses of them, and require micro

for example what they should do if they want this ability to harass via stopping mining via stargate tech is not to add this shitty unit, but move the warp prism to stargate tech, allowing those who want to open stargate to be able to harass via dropping Sentries and doing something very similar

Perhaps that might be a good thing to change, since there is rare need for warp prisms so early via robo openings, as immortals are usually needed to help protect yourself on two bases while you tech to colossus

In alpha, when the Mothership was still out of the game, the Oracle could cloak units under it as a spell instead of a passive.

I've always felt the same sentiments here as well. The oracle is a boring unit that has no potential to absolutely win you the game like other harass methods have. Terrans have medivac drops, banshees (oh shit, no detection, guess I'll just lose), Zerg has mutas and ling runbys on undefended expansions. Protoss gets a unit that stops workers from mining for a bit...
As a Protoss player, it is pretty annoying that the only quick harass unit we get doesn't actually kill anything. I have a feeling that the tempest will be changed from its current form right now and won't be that good for harass in the future.
You can always recover from an oracle attack (lol) because you don't lose workers, only mining time. You usually just lose the game if you lose all your probes at a mining base from drops or other harass.

Given the overlap between the Tempest and the Void Ray, maybe we'll get Speed Rays back as harass.

Blizzard should give the Oracle a spell that allows it to see an area about radius of 6, so that it can allow the player to actually give the Oracle something useful to use other than Entomb. The spell could check for expansions and note expo timings, check attack pathings, and other useful things.

I never liked the idea of entomb, not because it's a bad skill balance wise, but because it's so boring: you stop workers from mining for a while. And that's it.

As an example of a potentially much more interesting spell they could add to the game: stasis! =P

And longer, more detailed, and more conversant points do much to convince the community, which is who you need to get through to blizzard. I don't know how the devs don't get this. Nobody is going to build a stargate for 150/150, and then build an Oracle for an additional 150/150, leaving you with 600 resources spent not on combat units. Holding early game rushes is close enough with standard gateway/robo armies. How do they not get this?
