Except EG (read as: Alex Garfield) apparently wasn't aware of orb's prior offenses. Quantic is aware of Destiny's stream. EG supposedly never would have signed orb if they had known orb's personality. Quantic feels it's acceptable to hire Destiny, even given his *colorful* personality. I'm not saying that Quantic is necessarily less professional than EG (hell, IdrA is on EG, right?); I'm just saying that different things are being considered for individuals when they're added to a team's roster. When a team adds Person A, they assume they're going to get X, Y, and Z. If they get something negative that they didn't expect, that could be a dealbreaker. Quantic surely expected negative backlash at some point from Destiny's stream, especially after the orb scandal. EG probably didn't expect such things from orb in the first place, especially since he was just being added as a caster. So perhaps it's a double standard when talking about ignoring or acknowledging racism, but it's still important to distinguish the difference between expecting negative attention from one of your players (and being okay with it in the grand scheme of things because he- overall- does more good than bad for your team), and getting unexpected negative attention for your team.

And don't say: "Oh but if he didn't act this way, we wouldn't respond this way", if you don't like the behaviour of a player or team, simply don't support them. Do whatever else you want, I don't really care, but leave Esports out of it.

I think it's ignorance of yours to not also link material where he talks about this still you made a thread about racial slurs used on his stream. I know it's extremely hard to believe but using racial slurs doesn't mean you are racist. It is.

Most Asians wouldn't really care if someone used the term "gook" negatively. Most white people wouldn't care if someone used the tern "cracker" negatively. The only people who care in this community are insecure angry trolls. I bet most the people who are saying racism is a huge problem when something like this happens are white guys playing the high horse card. I'm half white so I believe I can make that generalization. Racism is a problem. This particular occurrence isn't part of it. If your so offended by this, become a political activist and actually discuss something that is meaningful. This thread is just ignorance. I am Asian and caucasian. Racial comments at this level are so trivial and not racist at all.

You will never be called a recognizable derogatory term. As to viewers of Destiny's stream- he is notorious for using offensive language on his stream. If you do not approve of said language, do not watch his stream. OMG, the problem is solved.

Exactly, people who give SO offended by stuff like this are the people who have no control over their emotions, because, believe it or not, you CAN decide not to be offended by something. Obviously the language isn't appropriate in civilized discussion, but honestly the community's reaction disgusts me far more than any language has.

Gook-eye, Gooky, Gook a derogatory term for Asians, used especially for enemy soldiers.[77] Its use as an ethnic slur has been traced to U.S. Marines serving in the Philippines in the early 20th century.[77][78] The earliest recorded example is dated 1920.[79] It gained widespread notice as a result of the Korean and Vietnam wars I can't say I've ever met an any Japanese or Chinese people who have been offended by the term. But then there are terms for those aswell. + Show Spoiler + Ie.. Nip -- from Nippon, and Chink.. well.. I don't think that needs explained So I think it's mostly a Korean / Vietnamese thing. Certainly not all Asians however.

It is the very definition of a racist slur motivated by racist thoughts. It is far worse than what the EGs guy did because he only threw random insults without actually targeting anyone directly. The only difference is that with the horrible US past he used a forbidden word so he got rightfully fired. QuanticDestiny on the other hand actively called someone inferior because of his race which is an unaccaptable lowblow. And for the balls part, maybe QuanticDestiny should grow some and stop being a crybaby about losing. good points i agree

It obviously are the same people right? Man, everyone else is so stupid and you are so smart. Or perhaps different people choose to respond to different topics and you can leave your self-righteousness at home.

Destiny is one of the most pleasant characters in the scene, yet haters will only look at his use of a couple words and pass judgement.

The number of people who instinctively depend him just because of his popularity... is disturbing. TL, at the very least, should not tolerate this behavior from its featured streamers.

You aren't held to the standards that SC2 players are held to. Sponsors who are Asian will no longer be interested in Quantic. It would be great if Samsung and their billions of dollars in the bank would sponsor Quantic right? I don't think so, not with an openly racist person like Destiny. And there are asian team-mates as well aren't there at Quantic. I don't think that's good for TEAM chemistry if Quantic apocalyse feels that Destiny is a hater of asian people... Really what Destiny did was borderline psychopathic. He did not take into consideration his position on his team, his responsibilities to his sponsors and thirdly his responsibility as a professional SC2 Player.

I honestly could not give a single fuck whether anyone is offended by anyone else's comments, on either side of the (any) situation, but if you bring the sponsors into it you are the one responsible for genuinely damaging Esports. Sponsors are what make Esports possible, and if you do anything to drive them away in any shape or form you are not just hurting the player or the team, but Esports as a whole. And don't say: "Oh but if he didn't act this way, we wouldn't respond this way", if you don't like the behaviour of a player or team, simply don't support them. Do whatever else you want, I don't really care, but leave Esports out of it. Don't you think this sort of thing is better off being policed by the community? It's important for pressure to be put on these teams to remove players that hurt the community through their own actions. The sponsors will hear about it one way or another if nothing is done. It's our job to make sure that doesn't happen if possible.

The 12 to 14 year olds and people with that level of maturity that watch his stream lap it up. Comparing Destiny and Orb directly is not relevant, one as a caster, is chosen to represent the community and has to show a degree of professionalism. If any caster used one of these racist terms it would have large detrimental effect on their careers. Destiny, although part of a team, essentially works for himself and seems unlikely to change his ways anytime soon. Do we really want someone that uses such language and talks about burning people for kicks representing this community? Time to start calling out the hypocrites in this thread who, back when the orb controversy was going, felt that he should be damned but now are seeking to make excuses for Destiny. I'll even do you the favor of not quoting your other posts bashing orb. It's silly to suggest that a distinction should be made between players and casters, considering that Destiny is less known for his play than for his prominence in the community. You can't apply different standards to those you like and those you don't.
