You don't know how good Korean BW pros are. To be fair, you guys are underestimating Stephano too. He has quite solid mechanics and over 200 EPM. All SC2 strategy relies on knowing what the units do, so Flash's only way of winning would be with his mechanics. Is this guy serious? Flash would beat most current pro gamers with just marines. The only way someone like Stephano could beat Flash was if the game was made so easy that Flash's skill had no use. SC2 is easy, but not that easy. Just no. There are three types of people in this thread: Flash fanboys - Flash will destroy every pro in SC2 cause he's the sickest eva and i want his babies omg flash so pro i cant wait till he crushes everyone total bonjwa with marines :D :D:D:D BW Players - Meh, Flash might not be the best now, but our game is far superior to yours and he will be Bonjwa eventually, your opinion is invalid, because we play Brood War. (See: Snob) SC2 Players - Flash will still be brilliant at SC2 right now, but will be right up there when he practices a lot. It's going to be fun. There is only one party that has it right there... you can't possibly know that^^ he might actually be way too godly for everyone, who knows. but a "I'm right" attidude, no matter how exaggerated the other party's argument is, won't make your point. I wanna see Stephano in code S first. But as I've said. Flash plays because its his destiny, Stephano plays because he's good, but more importantly because he makes loads of money. Flash will practice for 14 hours a day until he is confident in his play. Stephano will play 4-6 hours a day, as long as he wants to. Whether or not Flash is godly right away or will get to the top thorugh practice and dedication actually doesn't matter to me. What matter is, that no matter which way, he will definitely end up being better than Stephano. the only way any pro will keep up to the BW pros is by practicing as hard as they do, stephano will either try that and get a wrist injury and jsut leave the scene or wont practice as hard and get rolled
with stephanos mentality theres no way he can be the best of the best with such a half assed attitude

I really think it's as simple as no one knows exactly how (if at all) dominant Flash will be. Arguing about something that has yet to happen seems silly to me.

if you're talking about boxer and july, they were way out of their prime when they switched. and I still see nestea, mc and mvp as an example how good "abouve average" BW is in SC2.
still, after such a long time we have SC2 now, where someone comes from doesn't really matter anymore. WC3, Shooter, WoW... as long as someone has the talent and puts a lot of effort into it, they will most likely succeed.

You don't know how good Korean BW pros are. This has to be the most ignorant thing to say. It will take Flash atleast half a year of fulltime practice to catch up to Stephano and that is being very generous. This game is completely different.
no.. it would take stephano that long to catch up to pros if he was in flash's shoes.
Flash on the other hand practices for 10-16hours a day, which is about 3-4times what stephano does. He should catch up in 2 months max

I highly doubt any BW pros are going to dominate if they're splitting up their time between SC2 and BW like they will be in the mixed Proleague. Seriously, that's completely retarded, I thought they were gonna have some of their players play SC2 and some play BW, not have the same players try to play both at a high level.
If/when they switch over to full-time SC2 it's lights out for foreigners, though.

I think it's going to be hilarious when Flash finally debuts in sc2, plays great but definitely mortal, and people will say "see he's not god in sc2." Maybe even lose as series!
Then he comes back a month or two later and completely dominates. His work ethic, skill, and intelligence really is that high.

that's quite a bad metaphor. he doesn't need to develop speed, multitask, macroing ability or strategic thinking.
you could maybe compare it to an 11-a-side football player switching to 5-a-side football. and I bet you messi would still own the shit out of 5-a-side

Agreed. As soon as I saw that unit my jaw dropped. Map-makers are supposed to make the maps, but now, any protoss player with sentries gets to make the map. Likewise with the warp-in. Don't like the size of the map? Don't worry, you won't have to traverse it. You can skip it!
I love sc2, it just makes me embarrassed when I know the progamers are coming and things like this are what we have to show.

On April 27 2012 01:58 Nihilnovi wrote: Meh, I really don't think SC2 allows for such big skill gaps like in BW where mechanics are less forgiving and increase the gap based on pure mechanical skill, at which Flash is a monster.
But I really don't think that we will see any "one" player dominate for an extended period of time in SC2, ever, due to how much "easier" it is to play at say 80%(totally made up number, but you get my point) of perfection in this game compared to BW, which imo has both advantages and disadvantages.
People forget that BW bonjwas have already switched and they have been good, but not great, imo =)
Those bonjwas are far past their peak. Anyway, something else that people overlook is that the bonjwas gained their huge advantage by inventing something brand new and executing it better than others. SC2 players had BW as a reference point for how to quickly become good at the game, so things like micro and macro were already well understood. Players are unlikely to figure out some cool trick that wasn't already invented in BW. Builds are also easier to dissect and defeat than before thanks to replays, and since SC2 tournament games are played more frequently, a build's lifespan (during which players don't understand how to deal with it) is shorter since it gets more exposure.
So....a player who could have been dominant for a full year or so will only dominate for some months.

I love how the OP is clear to point out that he "enjoys" SC2, as is there was some doubt that he could. Like there was some way that he would not enjoy it or that he was so in love with BW that he would be unable to enjoy SC2. Or that he was being forced to play it for some reason and he secretly loathed the game and silently sobbed himself to sleep each night.
I have no idea how good the BW players are going to be when they hit the SC2 scene. I assume very, very good.

Believe it or not, it's possible to be a fan of both bw and sc2. Flash is known for his impeccable work ethic and sheer intelligence.
How will he do in his first televised game of sc2? I don't know. I think ForGG's early games would be a decent indicator - Flash's debut will be strong but there will be definite holes in his play.
The difference between Flash and ForGG is that, 2 months after they debut, Flash's work ethic and natural skill and intelligence will allow him to improve faster than almost any other human alive. So my point is that his transformation in that time will be jaw-dropping.
I don't know why you feel the need to insult me on that.
