I mean WTF they are just talking completely trash imo. By the way, he said that you have to invest so much time to play on a competetive level...which is a sign of how good a game is, as long as it doesn't involve just having to invest time, coz of stupid leveling or sth like this as we can find it in WoW.
You (and a lot of people) are thinking in black and white.
FPS/FGC fall into the gray area, whereas ARTS/RTS are just black.
Criticizing nerds for being more nerdy isn't so bad, the gray area is good.

I realise that the halo community feel like we ran them over with MLG. However, our game being more competitive, hence players putting more time into it isn't bad for it as an e-sport.
How we dress? What?
I dont understand why this is such a problem, also they having more class? Imo the halo community and FPS communities in general have a lot less class (aside from q3) because they're audience is in general less mature than the starcraft community. And yonger communities are more immature.
@15 mins
They say the Halo community needs to be more nerdy. They need to do stuff. They cite barcrafts, and sc2 community involvement etc etc.
It's all light hearted, just to prove a point to the Halo community.
i think the main problem is right at the beginning, people don't tend to watch the entire 1 hour video if they can see their point right away in the first 10 minutes, and what's in the first 10 minutes of the video? stupid jokes that sounds like coming from a 8 years old child. Man, seriously, they really need to learn how to be "funny" and constructing their points properly.
Why people throwing such a bitch-fit about this? Most of the pokes made at the starcraft community were made jokingly and out of frustration that there community is dying. The broodwar community on team liquid has made much worst comments about the starcraft 2 community than the comments made in this video and more serious at that. Seriously guys grow some thicker skin.
P.S. The commentary about the starcraft community were definitely not made by people who have:
@Hnnngg I'm not sure about your opinion.. I guess your right and I look at this very critical, but that kind of also decides, if there is an ESports-community or a Starcraft- and a Halo- and a LoL-....Community. So what are we talking about? Some casters mentioned we as SCII community shouldnt talk bad about other e-sports/games. But they can? That's still just stupid in my opinion, we need to decide whether there is a "All-together-Esports-Community" or not.

well thats probably never gonna happen. look at the "communities" of other games. lol and halo and all the rest, theres no community. sometimes theres a forum and a reddit page and an event, but thats not community. teamliquid for all of its pros and cons fosters real community. the BW importance of good manners has helped show the sc2 community a real way to play together, help each other and build a better scene through that.
charity events, helping out people stranded in hotels, flying mkp to mlg. all these things show that sc watchers give a shit. ive never heard of anything like this being done by anyone else. id love to stand corrected because then i would be hopeful that other games can join sc2 at the top of the table, showing that esports in general is a big deal, but from what ive seen sc2 is kinda out on its own atm.

They aren't talking about the game. They love the game.
Starcraft fans either 1.) Isolationist koreaboos who hate other games, 2.) Average (majority) joes who just flat-out don't care about other games and think that SC2 can stand alone, 3.) Super mega minority of eSports (not just SC2) fans who want everything to grow.
Starcraft fans also complain about other communities, especially FGC. But that's fine, knocking on each other isn't going to hurt the games/eSport. But saying Halo is for casuals and teenagers really shows how far the TL cesspool goes.

My name is Hammertime and I produce shows for Gandhi and The Halo Council. I just wanted to say that for myself and many of the staff I work with on these shows, we all either play, watch or love StarCraft in some sense or another!
Thanks!
Thanks for visiting. And thank you for not escalating this any further. This was never worthy of a thread, it is hard to fathom that anyone would get upset about this. The fact that someone sees this video, or perhaps more likely just reads about it, then goes on to be shocked about some comment about a community having better dress sense, only to respond with comments about a game being inferior, hoping it would die and worse is just sad.
Anyone with a level head will just take note of this, perhaps shake their heads then move on.

I mean Halo is dying. There's no way of getting around that. The SC2 community is booming. The LoL community is pretty big afaik. They are just trying to bring people back that used to support Halo. Rally the troops essentially.

Actually I think it DOES hurt eSports. We want to continue growing and ppl who see this, which are not really into eSports will quickly have a bad/worse opinion about it.

I don't know if you know, but the people who watch this are into eSports.
They kind of created MLG, you know probably the best tournament outside of GSL.

This needs to be added to the OP then, so people will have a better opinion.

This is what the entire thing started with. They are just trying to get the Halo community fired up. They are only praising SC2.
That trash talking video was just unprofessional and random. This video is what it's actually about.
This is just three failed halo pro gamers who miss the good old days when mlg was only about halo. Don't take them serious, they are all obviously drunk, and don't do the mistake to think that these guys represent everyone in the halo community. Plus halo community has a lot more immature kids in it (mainly because the game itself is pretty brainfree, given that it is a shooter) so don't take them to too serious.
Oh and at the people saying halo is a shitty shooter: Now I have played my fair share of cs (both), quake and halo. The issue with halo is that each new part is about 10x times worse than the previous one. The original halo is easily on level with cs 1.6, now quake is obviously far above halo, but you can say that about every shooter when you compare it to quake. Halo 2 got safed by a shit lot of glitches which added to the skill gap of the game, and given that source is a joke I'd even put it above that. Now Halo 3 and Halo Reach are just terrible shit games, both probably on par with cod 4-idon'tknowwheretheyarenow.
When these idiots actually say on camera that they need to shit on SC2's community just to get a shred of relevance for a day or two, I think not much more needs to be said.
Ofc I know that most of the ppl, watching this are into eSports, but I just think of ppl sharing this somewhere or sth and other guys watching it. Yea it's very far-thinking but that's how it is. If you care or not is your decision and being one of the funder of such a tournament is really really great, but it doesn't allow anybody to talk shit. But yea, I probably see this in a very serious light. (Sry for bad english btw, if there are many mistakes :D)

People watching this could only have a bad opinion about SC2 players (not the game, they said multiple times the game is good).
Which is not blasphemy, people can and should be critical of the SC2 community and players.
I think nowadays the community is a huge factor, especially when the games are getting more and more competetive. Because in such those games, the community IS the game. And Starcraft 2 and Halo are such those games.
