I actually really loved this video. Cool to see another game's perspectives on its industry. Wow, really wow. I loved seeing this.

Halo is a bad competitive game and they should feel bad.

Quake/unreal tournament or gtfo with your silly shooter.
If you think you're good, you suck. If you think you suck, you're getting better.

eh the video gets boring after first 6ish minutes

That right here is the problem, if everyone is like this they are only seeing the first 5 minutes of the video where yes, they do rip on Starcraft, the other 45 minutes they are praising the players and the community and saying how they want Halo to be more like it

i want every sc2 pro show up to events in 'style'

want all you progamers in suits and such.

Watched the beginning of the video. This is pretty funny.

Edit: I dont really think they have to apologize for anything. I think the op made it seem like a big deal when it was all lulz

neither halo nor Cod should be considered an esport sadly, and the only reason Cod is is because Sony sponsors it i think (they play it on ps3, not 360 if i remember right)

Opinions like this just annoy me, because it seems like you're saying that because they're not SC then they can't be an e-sport. You might not have this opinion, but I've seen many other comments in this thread about people not thinking that FPS's in general should be esports. This is just annoying because these types of games THRIVED for a very long time, everywhere from COD1 to Counterstrike 1.6, having prizepools larger than most today. They were staples of the CPL for a number of years and might still be alive today if not for the fucked up owner of the CPL not paying winning teams their prize money. When people say this, I don't think that they actually understand all of the little intricacies involved at actually taking your game to the next level.

These games (not sure about halo, and more recent versions of cod) involve just as much of the mind game as starcraft. It requires IMMENSE teamwork and communication.

I just don't really like these constant opinions of these kinds of games not being e-sports as they really could have been to this day if for more fortunate circumstances.

Watched like the first 10 minutes....they're not even talkin bad about sc2. They repetitively admit that sc2 takes a ton more work and practice to be any good at, freely admitting that the skill level of sc2 is just on a much much higher level than halo. It seems they're more trying to fire up the halo fans because they're Jelly of all the fantastically awesome and earth shatteringly loud fans that accompany sc2 to every MLG this year.
BW. There will always be a special place in my heart for the game I spent 10 years to be mediocre at.

actually just got 16minutes in. They're barely bashing SC2 at all. They actually go on to compliment the fans and such. Any 'bashing' is them just having fun with us.

maybe i should have been more specific, FPS are fine as an esport, just not on consoles. CS, quake, unreal tourny are all great games

Halo players looking down on SC2 players is like hockey players looking down on football players. They are different, and you are just upset that there's something else generating hype.

Haha, I know they are just messing around, but they are actually dissing SC2 for being a game you actually have to dedicate yourself to fully to master, pointing that out as something BAD, while they go on about how they can do other stuff as well while being competitive in HALO? Even though it's messing around and an attempt to diss, I don't see how that attempt worked in their favour. The legitimacy of an e-sport game in my eyes, just like with sports, is how many hours you have to put in to compete with the best. You don't see any up & coming soccer or american football player just practice a little here and there, they put in the hours, they work hard, because they have to, the skill cap and competition is that high. So.. if you can sustain being a progamer in HALO while putting in less hours compared to SC2, what does that tell you about the game?

All in all I think that games should work together to keep esports viable. We can't sustain the gaming scene with just one game like SC2, I believe we should cooperate with other games in organizing events, etc. Although we share venues in tournaments such as mlg, that seems to be the most interaction we have with other games. I think that it would be much more beneficial if we considered everyone as part of the "gaming community" instead of just eh "sc2 community" or "halo community".

It wasn't supposed to be serious, they were trying to hype up their own community.

My first impressions when I opened this thread were much like everyone else, that these guys were just bashing starcraft. Listening to the video later on I found that these guys arent big assholes or anything, and that it was all in good fun. I dont think that the OP shows this well enough, and I think it'll only bring in more angry people who dont bother to get themeslves informed about the whole situation.

If the worst people can say about the SC2 community is that pros have no style and are big nerds.. then I think we're doing pretty well

Nexy is a nice person and wasn't being entirely serious (I believe he even admitted that he was just creating some dialogue and playing devil's advocate). He cares a lot for the various gaming communities (Halo, especially) and has done a lot for them over the years.

And it's interesting that some of you are grouping together Halo players by the opinions of three just as they grouped all of the pros into a certain image.
