I loved to play the WC3 Dota, I played it for about 5 years, so naturally I was excited when Icefrog made the announcement that he will create a stand-alone Dota2 . I didn't care about the format, or how much it will cost.. I wanted to have it..
But then I saw the gameplay videos and I was shocked . The graphics look like a '99 rpg.. that was the first thing that came into my mind. This is dota 2

What I wanted to ask you is if you like the game the way it is, because I see everyone is hyped about it and doesn't mention this aspect. Because if you aren't .. well Valve should fix it so it doesn't look like it's on lowest graphics details at all times
Hope you take this in a constructive way; I may very well be in the minority and everyone else loves it the way it is, but for me , this is a serious impediment in playing the game, although I would love too.
Hmmm if you compare it side by side to WC3, I think it is pretty clear that Dota 2 graphics are far and away better. The artstyle doesn't really lend it self to sharp, bright graphics that jump out at your face, but I feel like the graphics take a careful middle road between easy visibility and flashiness. I don't see how you think Dota 2 looks like a game from 10+ years ago.

These models look awsome, however all I've seen is VODs is a lot lower quality models.. might be due to the fact that they are played in lower graphics details, but that would be weird
I just got in the beta and from what I have seen, they do well. The spells aren't wild looking or anything, but sometimes that can be a good thing if you want to make sure you can see your character. I think the environments look nice though not techinically outstanding but the art direction is what makes me like them.

I'm not so sure judging a game's graphics by low quality youtube videos are going to give you an accurate representation of what they are actually like in the game. :p

Agree, I was actually looking for feedback from people who are playing it, and really hoping I am wrong:D
If you can't see that there is a massive difference between the two pics you posted, you need to get ur eyes tested. For a start, there is barely a sharp edge in the Dota2 pic and there are lines and boxes and pixelated corners abound in the second one. Not to mention the resolution difference
Yeah no, you're pretty wrong. The game actually looks really crisp and clear and you can't get that from a grainy compressed Youtube video or low quality stream.
