I use my salmosa at 800dpi, 51% sens; the cursor travels the screen in half the length of a standard mousepad. Anything higher and its hard to click moving lings or click on the minimap of a large map.

I have 1800 dpi with my abyssus, with about 60% of the max sensitivity settings. You should move your hand at least 5 cm when crossing the screen from side to side and also have your entire forearm resting on the table otherwise you might get carpal tunnel if playing too much .. hope that helps

5600 DPI here. 3/11 windows, sc2 sense turned off.
Is higher DPI and lower windows sense better ?
Or should I increase windows sense to 6 and lower DPI for better performance

Apparently windows sensitivity should be 6/11 for 1:1 accuracy, as far as I know!

I like using 5k DPI because I can cross the screen in an inch and it means I can get in a position where the mouse cord doesn't impair my accuracy. But that's just me, what DPI do you guys play Starcraft 2 at and why?

P.S: Hope this I labelled this thread correctly
EDIT: No labels in this forum?

5k DPI and you cross your screen in an inch?! Wow. I'm guessing you have really high resolution. I play at 2000 DPI, 55% sentitivity, no acceleration, and I cross my screen in about 1cm. It should be noted, though, that I restrict my resolution in sc to make the screen square on my widescreen laptop.

It's been shown that 16: 9 vs 4:3, 16: 9 shows more of the action.

Why would you make it square?

Saying just your DPI means jack, there are too many factors that go into the true sensitivity of a mouse. Windows settings, in game settings, driver settings, ect. If you don't use accel, you should judge sensitivity by how far it takes you to move your mouse from one side of the screen to the other. If you are using accel there is no solid way that I know of to compare sensitivity accurately.

Saying that, there is no perfect mouse setting, it's all personal preference.

800-1000 dpi. I started out with 2000 was using a G3 in the beta. That finally broke. Friend bought me an Abyssus so I was using 3500 for awhile then realized that was totally unnecessary and dropped it to 1800. Moved, forgot my mouse and bought a G1 which is supposed to be 800-1000dpi. Works fine.

Where did you buy that mouse from? :o I've been wanting one but don't feel l like going to ebay.

Well i can say when i got my first gaming mouse about a year or two ago, i had no idea what to set my DPI. I started at 1k which was faster than im used to. Eventually it felt slow. I would raise it in 200 increments every time i felt the cursor was lagging behind.

Part of this i feel is the bottom of my mouse wore down from factory tho. I now have it at 3k DPI and haven't felt a need to increase it, and don't feel like its very fast either. I am just used to it i guess, and have no accuracy problems relating to DPI. No mouse acceleration. I have the in-game sensitivity off (Sc2).

It is funny when the average person uses my computer and moves the mouse, just to totally miss what they were going for tho lol. It took some time to build up to 3k and feel i could probably increase it more if i really wanted to, but i am super comfortable with 3,000 DPI.

Oh and resolution is 1920x1080

DPI != sensitivity....

It simply is the number of dots per inch. Higher DPI mice tend to be more accurate. You can set your sensitivity to what ever you want without changing your DPI, thus higher DPI tends to be better.

1800 dpi with a razer abyssus

my curser moves swiftly and accurately with a wiggle of the finger

this allows me to play any amount of sc2 games in a day without getting any fatigue in any part of my arm

i think you must have some settings messed up, i have 1500 dpi and it moves across my screen in about an inch lol. i bet your sc2 in game mouse speed is like 10% or something :S put windows mouse speed on 6/11 and sc2 mouse speed on 53% before you set the dpi :D

Actually I would like to find some info on keyboard positioning .. The hand I hold the mouse with never gets tired.. I could play all day long, but my left hand (keyboard hand ) starts hurting around the elbow region after a couple of hours, altough I keep my forearm on the table and have a decent keyboard ( Razer Arctosa ) .. Anyone else experiencing this ?

theres a bunch of factors besides dpi that affect mouse sensitivity so just saying "i use x dpi" means nothing. theres mouse acceleration, both the toggleable and hidden one, windows sensitivity, sc2 sensitivity, reduce mouse lag checkbox, and finally dpi which imo makes the least difference
