Here is the link. Basically he said you should have a mouse capable of more then 2k DPI, but optimally you should use 2k. I guess sensibility is up to the user, though I am trying to get used to higher and higher sensitivity by increasing it slowly over time.

Why would lower DPI be any good -___________- It's precise enough and let me do more stuff with less effort

So it is best to have your mice on these optimal settings and then adjust your in game sensitivity instead.

If you think you are getting behind in your game because you lift your hand too often during a game, then try using more DPI, while maintaining the sense rating.

Point is, you don't need a gaming equipment until you get to the pro level and you need to min/max everything about your play.

This is coming from an ex-CAL-I and CEVO-P dod player who played FPS his whole life. http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/763i/CPLMouseFix.zip double click the .reg to add it to the registry THEN restart your computer. You can also uninstall by doing the same method. GL HF.

FPS players play with incredibly low sensitivity so they can be more precise with their aim. In RTS it makes more sense to have as high sensitivity as you are comfortable with .

low dpi shouldn't matter too much unless you have a ridiculous resolution. so it's best to use what is good for u-

Most CS players use a low as hell sensitivity, and since it's the most competitive FPS out there, that's the standard.

I think idra said he uses 500cpi, and a lot of pros use the mid end of dpi of around 1800dpi

Actually, you're doing it wrong and you're helping people pick terrible settings. 1:1 ratio is the best for consistency. Anywhere between 0.5 inches to 2 inches distance vertically on your resolution. Which is generally 400-1000 dpi. Anyone with over 2000 is lost since we haven't evolved to the point of having 3000 pixel monitors on a regular consumer basis. Brood war is a good example, 640x480 only and 400 dpi for every pro gamer (LMO) = 0.83 inches top to bottom of their monitor. No reason for them to upgrade mice and have it uncontrollable or some crappy windows setting. In SC2, the G1 series is very popular in the GSL, which is 800 or 1000 dpi. Even at 1600x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080 it is about 1 inch top to bottom, maybe a little more. Bomber was using 800 on the mico. I wouldn't know about the slayers guys since it is changeable.

What I heard was that mid-tier players used low sens in order to get better accuracy, but to catch up to higher level players they started gradually increasing it in order to gain some reaction time. Maybe CS isn't the best reaction time example to demonstrate this (maybe in Quake Live or UT it is more apparent), but it's definitely the most competitive, so I'll leave it at that.
