Since this whole topic degenerated into the usual balance flamefest where every topic ends up if unmoderated it's time for it to clean up. Locking this down for a while. Any posts made after my post [page 233] not addressing the changes in this patch directly and containting flames or general balance whine will get banned for at least a week. ~Nyovne

I love how they increase the time on building barracks by 5 seconds, but keep close spawns. Love that they are addressing the real issues on the ladder.

As for GSL, 2 raxx punishes greed? protoss can make a pylon to force zerg to pool first, but terran do it it's OP? Make 2 raxxing more of an investment for terran so it isnt such a low risk high reward opening vs hatch first. I play terran and feel like if the map isnt cross positions it can be pretty abusive.

Warp Prism is built from robo, which means while you're building warp prisms, you can't make colossi, or immortals, which are important units that make up the protoss deathball.

It's a very fair tradeoff, IMO.

This gives more choice of strategies for protoss, which the protoss seriously lack as of now.



Medivacs are built from starport, which means whyle you're building medivacs, you can't make vikings, and if it's reactored, anything else. HSM buff will remain unused as long as it's that fucking expensive for something that isn't guaranteed to hit anything for 125 energy.

I was just trying to understand the patch since i forgot about about vikings and it was not making sense why they would change it for just 1 more shot on muraders and voids. I actually got it wrong, festors 6 shot voids now xp

Overlords are free, can drop, and are very fast.

Warp prism comes out of the robo which wants to make colossus not warp prisms. It's very inconvenient to get a warp prism if you're going colossus play.

Blue Flame nerf is too much. It will relegate Hellions to Reaper status. =( They will go from 2 shotting workers and unshielded Marines to overkilling with 3 shots. They should increase the cost or build time of either the unit or the upgrade instead...or lower the bonus from 10 to 7 so it can still two shot workers.

I wonder why they decided to mess with the Rax build time. It's going to screw up a lot of timings for very little benefit. You don't see much proxy Rax vs Z anymore. And P complain more about 1-1-1 than 3 Rax.

Seeker Missile change will be interesting. Exact same as speed as Stalkers. So the only units that can out run it is Ling/Baneling/Roach/Hydra/Ultra on creep, Mutas, Phoenix, Reapers, and Hellions. It might be more useful now than PDD vs Collosi and Viking balls...but who knows. I think Raven will still be too much of a gas sink when Tank/Ghost is so needed in every matchup.

The other changes look pretty good. Immortal range is long overdue. Ultra build time long overdue. I kinda wish they upped the damage/AOE of them instead though.

Warp Prism shields is okay I guess. I kinda wish they gave it armor instead though. It will now be able to survive going straight over a missile turrent with the speed upgrade. Not sure how I feel about that.

Mothership change will be interesting, depending upon how much "spawn lag" it still does...thats a big increase in acceleration.

Fungal change is silly, such a tiny dps decrease. It'll still two shot marines and stalkers. I guess it will no longer one shot zerglings but really a 5 hp zergling isn't worth much.

Terran can build a bunker/engi the same as P build a pylon. It used to be pretty common. Blocking!= pressure.

Just an Observation about the 2 different armor upgrades:

It is actually not an advantage. If I research armor upgrade, if affects only a part of the attacks my protoss unit receives, so I get "less return" from my investment in comparison with a terran armor upgrade for example.

I wish they would release a post explaining these changes. I don't mind any of them except the Barracks time change. Wtf is it with Blizz and making everything Terran does slower? If it's not a bunker it's the barracks, or making the barracks come 30s later b/c of the Supply Depot.

Christ, by Legacy of the Void it will probably be like 40 second SD time, 80 second rax and 60 second bunker.

Maybe immortals will do something with thier +1 range, it's not rangethat's the problem, it's no DPS at 8 min, vs terran's massive DPS and that tanks invalidate senties, sentries which are protoss's crutch to having a slower DPS ramp with all AoE being tier 3.



Warp prism is only decent change.


I think you mean barracks nerf not bunker. Big difference as another bunker nerf would be bad.

I do agree with Blizz`s approach to have no scary units, but sc2 is noob friendly so you can sort of expect those kinds of changes.

The "benefits from 2 different armor upgrades" is a double sided coin, and in is a lot of cases a weakness not a strength, it costs 350/350 to get +1 for it's entire health pool as opposed to 150/150 for just air carapace or air armor.

People people.... This ramp change does NOT mean that people on the above ground have longer range. Seriously, it is unbelievable how many people are so braindead that they think the word RAMP = CLIFF and the word VISION = RANGE.

Reading comprehension...

You know when you approach a ramp, you can see half way up it? This change means you will be able to see maybe a quarter way up it now, until you reach the point where you can see the top of the cliff. This means you will be unable to warp or blink units past force fields. This means that you can park units half way on a ramp while having them act as if they are on top of it. This doesn't mean you can't scout up ramps with workers... this doesn't mean that units on cliffs can out-range the units below them...

Really the only significant changes I see this affecting are Queens being able to block Helions on a ramp without them shooting back, and blink/warp/forcefield shenanigans in PvP.
Keep in mind though, these are big deals.

PvP is changing drastically with this patch. I am happy.

Terran actually has upgrades for each tier (mech, air, and bio). Protoss upgrades can affect whole ranges of units. The more you know!

woooohoooo protoss gets a buff!! I was losing so much on ladder, I don't mind the blink, although it will change pvp drastically. I knew the infestor/hellion nerf was coming

The seeker missle buff was needed, the barracks nerf i don't get. I guess Blizzard wants to stop all early proxy rax once and for all, but it wasn't really a huge problem to begin with.

pretty good patch, Blueflame Hellions with 3 attack upgrades will be still able to kill probes/drones with 2 shots even when they have armor 3 ; with +1 they will kill +0 probes (drones will regenerate) ; with +2 they kill +2 probes and +1 drones. That's a lot of added upgrade dynamic. Wouldn't mind cost of it changed to 100/100 though.

Somehow doubt the barracks change will go through,

not the same, toss can outright kill zerg if z hatches first, gateway into forge when scouted into zerg auto losing

I think that they should have added range to the seeker missile instead of the speed bonus (or both) if they wanted to see it used more. I think that the biggest problem with seeker missile is that whenever you use it, you practically sacrifice your raven as well, because it has an extremely short range.
