Since this whole topic degenerated into the usual balance flamefest where every topic ends up if unmoderated it's time for it to clean up. Locking this down for a while. Any posts made after my post [page 233] not addressing the changes in this patch directly and containting flames or general balance whine will get banned for at least a week. ~Nyovne

The ramp change seems ok, immortal buff would be ok if they nerfed colossus at the same time. The rest is either wrong or not enough/badly calculated...I'm scared of what will HotS bring .

i wonder if they experimented with the infernal pre-igniter giving like +30% vs. biological and plasma shields instead of +5 vs.light. would be a better idea imo. now hellions appear to be lame.
i also wonder why people keep calling seeker missile hunter seeker missile, it was renamed like a year ago.

Added three privacy settings to the Options menu under the Battle.net section.
Only allow friends to send me invites.
Only allow friends to send me chat messages.
Set status to Busy when playing a game. (They make it easy for MLG)


FINALLY! awesome changes, don't affect me of course but for the pros it's fantastic.

These are only a problem, when protoss cant do damage to t/z early on. But now, with a good transporter, I hope brotoss figure out a good way of harassing.

2 immortals + prism comes to mind, instead of voidrays, to deny fast 3rds from zerg.

In my opinion 2 immos + prism have many advantages over voids:

- robo is an overall better tech, with better transition (colossus/detection)

- 2 immortals have insane DPS vs buildings. They can focus down a hatchery in 15 shots or 22 game seconds, and that is ridiculously fast. Or a spawning pool/roach warren in 14,5 or ~12,5 game sec. I'm def. gonna try that out. Imagine typical zerg 3rds on taldarim. Depending on the position of zerg units, he could very well lose an expo in 16 real time seconds. Thats pretty awesome if you ask me. And the risko of this harass being easily denied has gonna considerably down, thanks to the much stronger WP.

- since WP are now much more robust, one could even drop a colosus into a mineral line and do good damage.

- and even warpins for harass are now stronger


In general, good harass is the best counter to the opponent's strong late game. Thats what terrans have been doing to protoss since beta. And thats what we will be able to do from now on.

Blueflame hellions will 3shot workers until +1 weapon upgrade, at which point they'll two-shot all workers but SCVs.

They'll still be 3shotting marines, unless the marines got +2 armor, in which case they'll require 4 shots. BUT, and this is pretty important, marines with medivacs will be a lot more useful against BFHs now, and this might actually balance biomech and mech to the point where both are pretty damn viable.

TvTs are going to get more interesting, BFH harasses in worker lines is going to get a little less effective, but not much else other than that.

Yes they are. 2.25 vs 2.95 movement speed. Ergo, Immortals will always be behind your stalkers, when the fighting begins. The extra range will help the immortals shoot, and not just glitch around behind the stalker line, thus increasing the overall DPS of the protoss army.


agreed. That was my main problem when I engaged, the DPS of my army would be shot, as my immortals wouldn't even have the chance to fight before my gateway army dies. Sure, I could engage in some quick micro to make sure my immortals actually fire in the front, but I'm not too handy with that, and then my most damaging units get focused and killed. I like the buff, very nice.

Lol and people flamed me when i proposed BFH to need armory.

This is far worse, man. Terran imho just needed early game timing nerfs, they already are pretty troubled lategame

Well, at least when this hit we should see a lot less TvT

yea finally!
But doesn't seem strange that they're just now doing it after going to the latest MLG. It's almost like they just saw mlg for the first time, when this shit was happening before. Overall most of the changes are nice I wished they made the ultra smaller though. :/

Good infestor nerf + immortal buff (otherwise positioning immortals is tricky - they either do nothing or get sniped fast). Lol at the pre-igniter nerf though, blizzard probably realized every T is using BFH.

How do they determine if a unit is "down the ramp" ?

Does the -1 range only applies to units that are ON the ramps ? So siege tanks near the ramps won't be affected ?

from a protoss point of view i love those changes. especially the shield buff for warp prisms will have a huge impact i believe

I like all the changes, they make sense. The +60 health to the warp prism is a little over the top, but I guess against terran it's ok (but it's not ok against zerg when usually it's the queen's job to kill the wp)
