But the difference is in sport events, there are thousands of people "live" at the venue itself so results will be spoiled and if you are watching delayed telecast, you know that a lot of people knows the result ahead of you.
With Starcraft , only the players and the organizers provided no cock-ups or mishaps. No Live Audience so to speak.
oh and Sixjax vs Root will be interesting.
Terran vs Destiny?
I wonder if Artosis will be a playing coach.

this tournament/league without team liquid will be only half as good

Pretty sure Dignitas will take this.
Then again Demuslim will be in playing form when this rolls around....

With Team`Liquid having the only team with players in Korea - they probably couldn't reach an agreement on servers/match timings/etc. - especially given Huk's reluctance of playing on overseas servers.

man this is great. I remember when starcraft 2 was just released, all we had was the GSL, but now look at this. EG FIGHTING!

This is probably a part of it. EG is hosting the tourny so they can do w/e the fuck they want and set any rules obviously. It is interesting, tho, to see sixjax get in over Empire.

Wow, really cool, very excited to see a SirScoots & Co production again, YAY! Thanks

ya, in my opinion, I would bet my money on this being the problem. Its also would explain why no Korean Teams were invited, too. It's sad, but I guess sometimes it's not possible to accomdate for everyone.

I'm guessing it's 4 NA and 4 EU teams that got invited... I'm disappointed at no coL invite though
It'll be very exciting to watch though

A 2v2 game each match? This is an awesome format. I can tell I'll be watching this all the way through, just from that. That, and the chance to see sixjax on a big stage will be hard to miss. I love you, EG.

Hmmm, MYM looks a little light on players according to TLPD. Only one Terran and one Protoss. Mondragon said he was going to be recruiting some new players. I wonder if we have some incoming announcements of some pick ups for the team.

Awesome!!. But the sad the format they are using because the GSTL one is way more fun to watch.

This is really exciting. Disappointed that Empire isn't invited (or didn't want to?) given that their roster is hilariously stacked.

Will those who play 1v1 be allowed to play 2v2 though or all of them must be different players.

No Liquid is a big surprise. O_o
Hope this tourny sees a lot more attention that the GCPL.

The problem with a winner's league format for an online tournament was talked about on Weapon of Choice. You have to have your entire team available for the duration of the best of x (up until elimination of course). I don't know how willing players would be to devote a large period of time to waiting for their turn to play.
On the other hand, winner's league is much better for the viewers.

But the tournament sounds good! Liquid showed interest, but EG chose not to accommodate us. Ah, perspective! Despite every European team agreeing to the ruleset without any concern, Team Liquid requested we make a rule that forced teams to alternate between servers from game to game for NA/EU and NA/KR matches. Since no European team issued this concern other than Team Liquid, we did not feel it appropriate to impose the rule on everyone which would just further complicate scheduling and broadcasting. Additionally, it should be noted that our ruleset did and does allow teams to play on either BattleNet region if both teams agree upon it.

Eg vs liquid feud incoming. Pretty much knew this would happen Drama drama woot woot

Was hoping Liquid would get involved in this; $10k is a large amount of money to be spread around. Nice to see some of the lesser known teams like Millenium and sixjax getting invited - should be interesting to se ehow they do.
Not surprised to see 2v2 being used in the tournament since that element pretty much won EG the machinima invitational it adds an awesome dynamic.
