This change makes total logic, all there is to it, is how they balance the nerf&buff respectively.

Wow, only half a year late with this update. Congrats blizz.

Why don't they just lower cooldown on warpgates and increase warp in the same amount. Won't hurt other matchups, while solving pvp.

Easy solution. Blizz = idiots.

I guess next thing they figure out: "We found out hellions can really set back a player, if they hit the worker line". "We found out marauders can kill a building in 2 secs - this is truely news to us. We care, and listen to the community".

I don't really understand this change in a Blizzard perspective. During the BETA, they come to a conclusion to nerf the zealot build time because early rushes were too strong against zerg. Why have they now changed back?!

This should be tested in the PTR first, which I actually think they will do but I hope this won't cause 2-Gate chronoboosted zealots to be a "whine-topic" again.

In the end I think this is a good idea since the whole idea behind WG is weird and PvP might be a liiiiiitle more dynamic than it is right now, but I don't want another collosus vs collosus battle T.T

It's difficult to comment on the balance when it is just a possible idea with no presented numbers. I am just pleased they have accepted it is an issue as watching PvP is tedious

warp gate being usable at nexus instead of pylons > removing warp rate or putting it on twilight council. both in terms of the number of available builds to p and overall balance.

pvp being 100% blink stalker delayed 4gate on both sides would be just as bad as what we have now, arguably worse since going 1 base starport would be retarded, 1base colossus would get destroyed and if you try and leave your base with immortals blink stalkers harrass/base trade. dt would also surge as the main build would be hard countered by it but we get the worst of both worlds now as both techs would be completely unscoutable untill its too late. id argue this version of pvp would not just be as bad but worse than we have now.

plus it doesnt adress the main thing that expos arent viable, i would go ANY BUILD if i had to in order to expo in pvp but nothing works but 1 base agression, sometimes you can expo but you cant plan for an expo build because your 10 minutes into the game before your first safe chance. its horrible this is the only mirror where you cant reliably macro win against your opponent no matter how high your skill level.

the delay involved with putting warp on twilight is ok but actually doing it is a completely terrible idea. pvp would be no better at all, games would just last 1-2 more minutes.

Looking forward to a few months of completely hilarious imbalance, as fiddling with Warpgates and Colossi is almost guaranteed to completely break Protoss in the absence of a total overhaul.

That said, it's all for the best.

I think by nerfing Warpgate research time by just a tiny bit will make fast robo (2-3 gate + robo, as day9 did in his daily) viable.

Are you serious? Since when has the match been "almost as a joke as PvZ"? That is so absurd. Grass is always greener on the other side, whatever KaS is doing with Protoss, and however good he may be, he wont be switching, it is the same when Zergs were "switching to Terran". I can't even fathom how anyone can consider the match up this bad when you have players like Bomber,MKP MVP and MMA just crushing Protoss so convincingly, even players just as good like San/MC.

Bomber vs White-ra had some if the most one sided games I've ever seen.

Not to mention the cognitive dissonance when you say "no balance whine" but call the match "as much as a joke as PvZ" the sentence before.

There's a way to revert warp gates back into gateways, and I've always wanted that button put to good use. So, basically, I for one love this change. Imoho it should be taken further, to the point where normal gateways are producing faster than the warp gates. That way the protoss would need to stick to normal gateways when macroing to the fullest and convert them to warp gates when going on the offensive or warping in at distant locations.

I'm confused about this apparent regression as well.

However, maybe it might be different because maps are generally bigger now, thus making it harder to 2gate proxy like we used to on Steppes of War?

I think it's a bit premature, especially because we're not actually seeing everyone go 4gate in PvP at the moment. Actually, I'm seeing a lot of 3gate blink and fast robo play.

I think they're bent on getting PvP off one-base play though, since the mantra for a while was "First Protoss to expand loses, since they'll have banked 400 minerals in non-units". If they can find a way to allow for multi-base PvP, then perhaps (they figure) we may incorporate more variety in our PvP? Like air? Or maybe just more colossi, so this whole thing is irrelevant anyway...

I think it's best to just keep letting PvP evolve at the moment, since there aren't any balance issues. Let the metagame do its thing.

This. To be honest, i don't know why they didn't have this from the beginning.

It makes complete sense to have a defender's advantage of sorts, by being able to produce more units faster out of your gateways, than say, the attacker out of his warpgates. Since warpgate is such a powerful mechanic, it just seemed to negate defense SO MUCH, by bringing all your production right to where you are.

I'm incredibly pleased with this news

Bomber is the only one crushing protoss according to TLPD, MKP and MVP are both around a 52% win rate which is their worst matchups.

Weeee, I'm so glad I never expended any effort into trying to figure out how to beat the 4 Gate in PvP. That whole body of hard-earned knowledge is now going to be almost useless. Why try to figure something out when you know it'll get nerfed in 3 months?

You could have something like Pylon field cancelling or something else that doesn't force people to have to re-figure out the matchups.

Yea, now blizzard said enough. They do not want Toss to be favored in PvP as well so they are nerfing WG so toss is not longer favored in PvP
