My hotkeys actually change depending on the matchup and playstyle I use. Typically this is my setup.

BioSetup
1 - Army
2 - Special Units or Harass Units
3 - Barracks w/ Techlab
4 - Barracks with Reactor
5 - Command Center
6 - Factory
7 - Starport

Mech Setup:
1 - Army
2- Tanks
3- Vikings
4 - Factory w/Techlab
5 - Command Center
6 - Factory with Reactor
7 - Starport

I've actually been strongly trying to change my hotkeys so I use 1production key for tabbing, which would let me have more hotkeys for various army/unit groups. But I'm stubborn in my way and its quite difficult to change.

1 - M&M&M
2 - Primary mech unit (generally either Banshees or Thors)
3-4 - Other army/splits
5 - Barracks
6 - CCs
8 - Factories
9 - Starports

I used to put my Barracks on 7, hence 8 and 9 for the Factories and Starports. I tried putting them on 7 and 8 but just couldn't get used to it.

I should probably put upgrade structures on 7.

1 - All production buildings including command center (I can just shift ctrl click to remove the CCs to rally. I just tab to use the different buildings. It also makes it easier to do "the tap" for me since I can just 1, army, 1, army and see every single thing that's building.)
2 - Tanks
3 - MMM
4 - Ghosts / banshees / flying units / army splits
5 - Scout / banshees / flying units / army splits
6 - Engineering Bay / Armory

I don't use the other keys since as I use grid and just keep my hand on the left side of the keyboard.

this is what i found to be good at multi tasking can quickly check on your buildings with 1-2-3-W mean while can quickly switch to your army with out moving your hand all over the keyboard

i got my setup like this:

1 CC
2 Rax

5 Mainarmy
6 Harass/Caster
7 Harass/Caster
8 Techlab/Ghost academy
9 Ebay
10 Armory


i started playing 1-3 army 4-7 buildings but i didnt like it cause when u got your army on 5 u can easily press "A" for kiting/hit&run. though 1 -> s for scv is prettynice too.

8-0 is upgrades cause u dont need to press those keys a lot. and i recommend to you to have an techlab on 8 so you dont have to get back to your base to check your important upgrades. you just save some time that you can spend on other things.

last thing: i change the upgradebuttons for ebay and armory to grid so you can easily double upgrade/ you dont have to learna nd find those keys on your keyboard.

I think you should have your Barracks, Factories, and Starports all on different hot keys so you don't have to tab through the buildings and it would make rally points easier to control.

Oh man, this is a harsh reminder of my terrible setup that i have been engrained to using since BW as a kid

1-MMM
2-Tank
3-Caster
4-Drops/special stuff
5-CC at main
6-CC at natural
7-CC at thirrd
8-Port
9-Fact
0-Barracks

I need to work on switching this very bad. Im still in masters league but I feel I could be a lot higher if I was able to switch to a more comfortable setup.

My hotkeys aren't any thing special
only really use 1-5 with all production buildings on 4 and cc's on 5.
But I remapped lift off/ land of buildings to "~" button, and backspace(to scroll through CCs) to a side mouse button, those two changes help me more than anything.

0 auxiliary structure (like a ghost academy or tech labs for an early rush)

I've been using this since BW and it works quite nicely for me... especially since its far more awkward to go 1a2a3a than it is to go 5a6a7a, at least to me. I also use this general hotkey setup for zerg and protoss as well (unit producing structures/queens as 1-3, harvester producing structure as 4, units as 5-7, ups as 8-9), and I'm really used to it. It will for sure take getting used to if anyone decides to switch to it after being 1a2a3a for so long.

it isn't that bad. i use a nearly identical setup because of years of bw and it has served me fine in sc2 so far.
