How to do Marine micro?

I saw in a replay that the Terran micro's his marines against zerglings by slowing moving away by taking a step away and then firing. The Terran repeats doing that so the Marine keeps moving away a little and firing each time. How do you micro your Marines like that? Do you keep right clicking a spot and pressing the Stop or Hold key (which one?) or is it done a different way? What is the proper timing on it, so that the Marines only fire once and moves again? Do you wait until you see the Marine fire first before you move or do you keep pressing the move and Stop or Hold key?

It's literally right click, press h or s, then right click once more. For once, it is as simple as it seems.
Edit: With stim, you can alternate it pretty quickly and not waste shots. Timing is basically as quickly as you can.

right click away and hit "s" on your keyboard every fire cycle.

Another way is to right click away then a click towards and go back and forth a lot, but that doesn't work as well with marines since the fire rate is higher, better with slow firing stuff like hellions or unstimmed marauders.

Like you said, I do the right click/press hold method. It takes some practice. Keep doing it until you get the timing down. If you want, here's a replay of mine with me demonstrating it.

You could also right click away and then a-move.

I'm curious if anyone has any tips on how to time it perfectly, aside from "practice it more".

From what I know, you have to right click away, to move, then hit A key for attack and click on the ground away from you.

So essentially its, right click, A+left click, right click, A+left click, etc.
When clicking left or right mouse buttons, make sure you are clicking the ground behind you or where ever.

Thanks for the help, replay, and map. So pressing Stop or Hold when microing basically is the same thing right? It will give the same timing?

I don't really believe there are any shortcuts. You just need to do it enough to know the fire rate by muscle memory.

a176 posted a link to a thread with a downloadable Marine Micro map. I'm using Windows Vista and I can't find the Starcraft 2 map directory to put the map file in. I can only find the replay directory, but not the map directory. I tried using the search, but the only thread I found was http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=142122 and people didn't know the answer to the question either. How do I get Starcraft 2 to play downloadable custom maps? I tried searching Bnet published maps for the map, but couldn't find it.

Go in SC2 to "Create a game" and search for qxc. He made a nice stutter step map.

I tried that Pulz, but SC2 Create game search said 'No Results found for "qxc" '.
