Still so much behind compared to Halo. I just cant understand it.

Well prizes are anyway sick. I'm sure that some of the Koreans might even show up this season.

Very impressive, maybe this will incentivize more people travelling to events, including more Koreans and Europeans.

Halo prize is split between 4 people i believe.

50K first prize, holy crap! Could someone explain how the National Championships differs from the regular season? I'm assuming its a tournament seeded through points accumulated during the regular season?

Halo has like what, 4 players in a team? You have to consider that, so SC2 ist more per head. (Edit: at least for the NC)

$5,000 for regular events.
$50,000 for MLG Dallas.
Knowing MLG I predict that jungle basin will still be in the map pool for next season.

Interesting.

Halo also has a much more significant amount of players per event which pay a pretty large registration fee per team which helps support its prize pool.
tahts halo, dont worry

Wow, wish it was higher but it's okay, I understand why it can't be. Halo also still as a much larger fan base for MLG, I mean people on Halo and Call of Duty use "MLG" instead of "Gosu" to describe skill, the prize pool for Halo should really be bigger than SC2 imo (at least for MLG)

Don't forget, MLG tournaments are three days long. GSL tournaments are a month long investment.

50k in three days is a hell of a lot of money. This Season is going to be incredible I can't wait.

halo has been in MLG for how long? a ridiculous amount of years. SC2 for 5 months(if that even). Also what others have said about team size. Considering the amount of time I'd say it's well on it's way, maybe even going very fast.

Prize per person for Starcraft 2 is equal to that of Halo for normal events and more for National Championships. That's pretty damn sick! Not to mention that Starcraft 2 gets it's own main stage now! Hopefully they do the event well.

Pretty cool to see MLG put a lot of money on the line for the 2nd season of SC2. If it is popular it will go up the next year. Supporting MLG will only make things better.

I just don't get the hate for Halo it is a different genre than Starcraft and yet people constantly complain how it gets more money or takes less skill (Console FPS vs PC RTS good job at that comparison). I am sorry but Halo is MLG's flagship game still. It is up to us to draw more attention to SC2 and get it to take over that title.

I'm worried about the amount of player slots (272). I don't think the sc2 community can sell that many passes. Starcraft has always been the spectator's esport.

I was extremely happy seeing these amounts. Now I just hope there'll be an event in the NE or schedules arrange nicely for me to be able to make one of the other events that's semi-close.

Hmm, so if the next season of the GSL runs in March, and MLG will be at the start of April, hopefully we will get to see the Liquid crew and Idra again at MLG.

the StarCraft 2 tournament will see 272 players square off.

My tournament system sense guesses 16 seeds plus 16 preliminaries of 16 players each leading to a 32 person final bracket. Anyway, that's a lot of players!

the price pool sounds awesome.
I wish we could get a similar time schedule like the osl / msl. Where players have more time to prepare for their next match. Oh well I know its impossible with the travel distance in an offline tournament in the US .
Fruitseller: I feel like it's a good strategy[6Pool]. I had a lot of strategies, but I thought about it a lot and decided to 6 pool. Other people told me to 6 pool too

Just wow. Everyone needs to give props to MLG for always putting up great events and applaud their organization and ability to get sponsors. Also thanks to the sponsors. I suspect this will attract EVERY PRO GAMER who is able to attain a VISA to the states... even the top top koreans.

Halo has 4 players per team and they also have a dedicated coach that is always with them that tells them spawn times and other things. So if i was a halo player I would almost be upset with how much money sc is getting (clear 4x less in regular season but only half for championship).

Overall im happy to see this kind of prize money for NA tournaments.

there were more people watching SC2 at the last MLG event than Halo, and MLG is pretty much all halo has...

Last years national championship had like 6k(?) for first place and the regular seasons a lot less and still some europeans came. I think now that the sc2 teams are more established they´ll have an easier time sending people then right after forming a team.

MLG is a single weekend.

GSL is almost a month long.
This space for rent.

Although I obviously prefer starcraft over halo, the hate for Halo on I am seeing here is completely unfounded. At high levels halo is the most strategic and competitive shooter out there. The skill gap between medium to high level players might not be that high, but the strategy and teamwork skill gap is almost unlimited. As RTS players you should respect that. Being a good team in Halo might be one of the hardest things to accomplish in gaming.
