Zowie Gear, a sponsor of KT Rolster announces a new addition to their product line in the Zowie Celeritas mechanical keyboard.

http://www.zowiegear.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=137

"As a competitive gaming keyboard, the ZOWIE CELERITAS was developed focusing on performance enhancement and functionality. The CELERITAS features 18K gold-plated brown mechanical switches for increased durability and pressure feeling, nylon key caps for a better comfort feeling at the touch of your fingers, and last but not least, a simplified, yet strong black design.

The primary feature of the ZOWIE CELERITAS is the newly developed ZOWIE RTR™ (Real Time Response) technology which allows the user to define the repeat-response of their presses to be 1x, 2x, 4x or 8x of the normal repeat-response for a keyboard when using the PS/2 connector. RTR™ allows gamers to gain a higher responsiveness from their keys and thereby increase the pace of movement in FPS and Racing games or possibly even increase the APM in RTS. How fast do you like it to be? We give you the possibility so you can define your most comfortable repeat-response."

"A lot of gamers are annoyed by the left windows key when playing games. Young Ho 'Flash' Lee reminded us of this, and suggested that we'd make another Ctrl instead of just disabling it. We were able to make it a function, so you can define it as either windows or ctrl. By defining this feature, RTS-gamers are able to perform multi-pressing and increase their reach with an additional 3-4 keys."

^ That sounds really cool.

This doesn't look like any mechanical keyboard I've seen before, so it looks like its a completely new design. The price tag is 119 euros which comes out to over $160 USD so the price will be quite steep. I personally have never used any Zowie products, does anyone out there have anything from Zowie? I've heard their headsets are good, but thats about all I've heard.

I don't know much about keyboards, so "mechanical" doesn't mean much to me, but I like the double control key. I have a hard time hitting it sometimes, it's really a limiting factor on my speed ingame.

I liked all about it until I saw the price.

Yeah it's mechanical, but it's a lot of money for a keyboard that has basically no features.

You could get Das Keyboard Ultimate for less, and it looks way more badass.

$160 is pretty steep... my 6G is getting a little worn... maybe. If that picture had the Flash eye twitch instead of some finger pointing, I would have already sent them my credit card.

It means that the switch under the key is mechanical. It's not a "digital" contact. Most keyboards use a "dome-switch system" in which you press on the top of the dome and it pushes the bottom onto a plate, completing a circuit.

Old IBM keyboards were all mechanical if you got the chance to use one. They had a distinguishable "clicking" noise.

You can read more about the different types here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_technology

Did I mention how cool das Keyboard is?

To the people complaining about price, the U.S. price of products is usually cheaper than the Euro price. Not sure if this will be true for this keyboard but it is possible.

The control button feature is pretty cool. Using 6+ for hot-keys would be a bit easier.

$160... euff I'd rather just buy a Logitech G15 for half of that.

Ive got a mousepad from zowie which is pretty good. As far as I understand, there are some people in the zowie company that originally came from Steelseries so you can probably count on the quality of the products..

I prefer the tall enter key.

On topic, I don't think Zowie understand that they have to price their product competitively. The majority of people who know about the benefits of mechanical keyboards will most likely also know the major players (Filco, Das Keyboard etc.) and realize that they can buy a better product for less.

I can't see who will buy this, the extra control key does not justify to me paying as much for it as a Filco.

I don't mind the tall vs short enter key as long as the backspace isn't small. The second control instead of Windows is...well to me it's pointless. The price is also way too high. I'd rather just get a Filco. As for the quality, it's probably really good. I have a Zowie Hammer headset, and it's amazing, so I know they do make quality products.
