I was wondering today, What qualities do you need to become a pro gamer, I have thought of some but do some other people have something to add to the list? -Determination -The ability to continue when it's not going that well -Intelligence Greetz, Bart | ||

Yeah, for college students, I don't know how you can have a good gpa and pursue a technical degree and dedicate 8-12 hours a day to starcraft. I don't think the pros really have that different of qualities than other people. Actually, in some cases, I feel that progamers have the wrong qualities, particularly in their decision making and logical reasoning. That goes for anything though, not just gaming. Also, consistency is huge. That's really why I respect Idra a lot. He does the same thing a lot, but he does it because he's practiced it so much in so many situations and doesn't have to rely on much risk when it counts. | ||

Being near the top level of any activity is proportional to the amount of effort you're willing to put into said activity. Getting to the absolute tip top requires a little talent and depending on the activity ingenuity. The fact of the matter is the great majority of people (I wouldn't be surprised if that number is >98%) don't even have enough willpower to do things they enjoy doing, let alone force themselves to do something they won't enjoy. The significance of effort cannot be understated - if you're average or below average at something it's because you're not trying hard enough. Period. | ||

Yeah, I absolutely agree with you, but what are the qualities that take you even further than the rest of the hard training players? | ||

Creativity I think creativity is the biggest factor to becoming popular, which leads you to getting sponsored. No offense to TLO but he's not the best currently. He IS one of the most popular due to his very creative builds and everyone, myself included, loves watching his games. So I would say creativity and daring to try them out of critical matches is the most entertaining and thus the most important trait of a pro gamer long term | ||
