It's Kerrigan but for whatever reason they're using a slightly altered version of Nova's portrait. Different perspective and obviously recolored. They did the same for the multiplayer portraits. Dunno if they just got lazy or whatever because she clearly looks different from the cinematic.
Well hopefully we'll get an updated portrait for whatever Kerrigan is in Hots, bad bad Blizzard for making a major character look like a minor character.

Nova, fake Kerrigan, actual Kerrigan:
This is my worst pet peeve from SC2 - the fact that Nova and Kerrigan portrait look almost like one. Blizzard could have fired that lazy ass artist from doing copy paste and ruining one of the most desirable reward portraits from Single Player mode.

Wow man. That's just terrible. I don't care whether it was two artists, they could have done a better job. Hell, like the post I just quoted, they could have screen capped the cinematic and given us a woman with at least the right nose shape. Lazy.

It's at the very end of the mission. Take a look at ; the relevant dialogue starts at 2:56 and goes about 10 seconds.

Thats kerrigan, looking sweet ass in her spiffed out uniform, and being overrun and exhausted to death emotionally betrayed kerrigan.
Woah I didn't notice ghost Kerii talking to Raynor in the last seconds of All-In. Thanks for showing it to me O.o Guess I was a little busy trying to survive on Brutal.
Edit: And I agree. I was so disappointed when my Kerri avatar turned out to be a carbon copy of Nova just with reskinned hair ;/. Felt like such a rip off for playing brutal just to get that portrait T.T

WTF? I TOTALLY did NOT get this dialogue when I did the mission. Would it have been something to do with the difficulty maybe? (I did all missions on hard not brutal)
I wonder if thats Nova - because, if I remember correctly, she that girl has blond hair, but kerrigan has red hair?

After you have completed her mission, she stays on Raynors ship (and thus is probably on his side). Just read the text about ghosts in the armory long enough. Surely someone else must have seen this?

you did watch that cinematic right? shes about 6 light years away
The one that you call "fake kerrigan" is actually the one that I like better, and it somehow matches better with my memories from SC1. The "real kerrigan", from the cinematic, has a too weird face, too rounded, even fat, not sexy at all, not at all like it should be. That, or they messed up something about showing the cinematic on a wide-screen resolution

Did you click on the sniper rifle in the armoury long enough? She's definitely on the ship with Raynor. But it sucks major ass that you can't have her in the Cantina and talk to her after and before every mission like you could with Tosh.

Afaik you only get it if you "kill" Kerrigan during her last attack. You can still beat the mission while she knocks at your front door, but then then you won't get that transmission.

Yeah I think that's what happened to me. My defences were compromised anyway, and I was just stalling so they wouldn't get to the artifact in time. I wasn't in any postion to kill her or even think about it.
I want to know why the Sarah Kerrigan in the betrayal cut scene looks vastly different (facial structure) than the Kerrigan in the final cut scene when she is human again.

I highly doubt that was the reason for me, as I was completely owning face for the entire mission. Those mind control towers gave me an army of like 40 mutas, 12 guardians, and several ultras and hydras. like I did say though, I wasn't playing on brutal.
It specifically says when you're choosing between Tosh's mission and Nova's mission that Nova would not be staying with you, but that she would teach you how to train Ghosts. She's not on the ship -_-

Ya, not really, but if you look at the ghost equipment in the armory long enough she uncloaks sitting ontop of the weapon crates for a few seconds and then recloaks again. I doubt it means she's actually with him. It's more of an easter egg. Video for anyone who chose Tosh or can't be bothered to look for themselves: + Show Spoiler +
I remember a month or so ago getting placed against someone with the kerrigan portrait, and thinking it was the 1000 terran wins reward and crapping my pants...Then after winning the game I looked and realized the 1k reward was nova...They do look annoyingly similar, especially if you aren't expecting it. I went through all the campaign missions on brutal after that so I could do the same thing to other people.

So Kerrigan was planned to be a minor character in SC2? And yes I do know what you're talking about, though I think they said it was more along the lines of Kerrigan was thrown into the game rather late than she was planned to be a minor character. Before they even started making SC2 Kerrigan obviously wasn't meant to be a minor character, they should have had art planned for her looks early on, which I suppose means it's likely Nova being a look alike came second.
Weird ... I totally did not get that dialogue. Maybe it's because the game thought I was going to fail lol. I only had 1 or 2 tanks (no buildings or anything else) left when I hit 100%. Or maybe it was because Kerrigan was still active when I hit 100% ... maybe the dialogue is triggered by bringing her down the last time.

She was planned to be a minor throw away character originally in sc1. She was originally supposed to just die when she got left behind.
Yeah, a friend of mine was saying : I find it funny that Mohandar, Urun, etc... who are in a single mission all get their own custom portraits... but Kerrigan, who's arguably the most important character in SC in general, doesn't.

I won't be surprised! They are both Ghosts, and I don't think any random human could be one, so it is possible that they are part of a family with Ghost powers. What difference that makes for the SC2 lore, I don't know, because Nova seemed more than willing to defect to Raynor's side even without a blood relation to Kerrigan.

Yes you need to kill Kerrigan in order to get the ending dialogue. Also my point was that Kerrigan was going to be a major character before they even began planning SC2 she shouldn't look like a minor character expect for some of the crazy theories already mentioned.
Kerrigan and Nova both have stories explaining what happened to their families so I don't see them being blood related though Blizzard could easily make some ridiculous way for them to still be related but it would probably need to involve some conspiracy. They're both extremely powerful psychics so they definitely have that in common and if they are somehow related it might mean Nova also has the potential to control the Zerg as even before being infested Kerrigan showed signs it was possible during the Confederate experiments. I seriously hope they're not related and doubt it, but the storytelling of WoL makes me afraid of what might be in store.

Yeah, a fucking easter egg means she's definitely on the ship. What's next... Tauren and Murloc marines are for real? I can already imagine the plot - Terran, Protoss, Zerg, Murlocs and Tauren unite to defeat the Dark Voice!

You do realize that there are still 2 whole campaigns left, right? I'm sure the protoss heroes still have a part to play in the future against the hybrid.. I think the campaign will just get better in the next installments.. Kind of like the LotR movies.. The terran missions were just a long tutorial..
The real travesty here is that Nova is the 1000 solo win icon for Terran. Every other race has something bad ass and Terran gets a prematurely graying girl who has appeared in one of the campaign missions...

So the intricate story of SC1 was just a fluke? That explains the SC2 story and storytelling...
One reason why the portrait of Kerrigan and the CG version of Kerrigan is so different is in what I said.
The portrait is 2D, the CG version is 3D. Now, that being said, they are SEVERELY different even considering that. But the picture that Raynor has of Kerrigan is quite different as well. So who knows.
To anyone who is saying Kerrigan is a late addition: What the fuck? Kerrigan is HUGELY important in every single campaign. I don't know what you guys are talking about. Blizzard is damn good, but I don't think they are so good to add a "late addition" into the campaign so flawlessly and with such great importance in the story.

In an interview on Sclegacy, Chris Metzen admits that Kerrigan's role in the original SC1 campaign was only added during the later stages of development. But, yeah they still did a good job with it. You can note that Kerrigan is quite absent in the Protoss campaign of vanilla SC. She really was supposed to be a minor character at first.

honestly when i get to 1000 terran games won.. im not even going to use nova's stupid portrait.. both zerg and toss have badass portraits lol.
and this is why i don't use my kerrigan portrait, she is bland and dull. same goes for just about every terran portrait... they need some kind of expression.

the 2d portrait is a 3d rendered shot... im just saying, no one sat there and drew a perfectly looking 3d model in 2d with a graphics tab. they would have touched it up after the shot was taking...
so in saying that.. why couldn't they grab the 3d model from the cinematic and use that for their shot..

Zerg-Infested Ghost --> Queen of Blades with high-heels? WTF?:D
She had a long face and dreads. It was metal as hell. It really fit with the gritty dystopian universe that we saw in SC/BW. Now, where did this wispy-haired, gentle looking human Kerrigan come from. Yeah wasnt too crazy about the new kerrigan look. It looks generic and different to the point it feels like a different person. That or maybe Raynor's dream recollection sucks! jk
I think Nova looked more feminine in the artwork they released for SC:ghost too. Overall the 3d models looked great, but maybe the artists werent that good with female faces, more specialized in aliens, wrinkled faces and biceps(fucking raynor has been working out) lol

between dreads, the skin tone and the above average sized lips it made you think kerrigan was part black. What happened to that. I liked how between that and bold raynor they went with a non-cliche leads. Instead now we have pretty boy raynor and typical kerrigan look.

Jim Raynor looked like a terminal cancer patient back in SC1, and yet people seem to be okay with his extreme makeover. If anything, I find Kerrigan's transformation a lot less jarring than Jim's.
