Lets harass WCG until they make a compromise. Maybe Python, Tau, Othello, and a new korean 2 player map (are there any?) I think having a 2 player map would be nice, but even they must concede that completely changing the map pool, not just slightly altering one or 2 maps mid-tourney is completely ridiculous. you know its hilariously funny that they changed these maps. if you look on the site they changed these "due to user feedback". well i know damn well that not one non korean told them to put these idiot maps in. so they basically ignored foreigners and did something JUST FOR THE 30 KOREAN PROS WHO ARE SEEDED INTO WCG KOREA FINALS. I got SO fucking bored of all those macro boring maps where we ALWAYS do the same shit. Bring back lotem, dire strait (Yes i'm zerg and yes i lose against protoss so what ? It doesn't change the fact that this map is just INTERESTING to play) and whatever, hell even bifrost, god i love bifrost, so many cheesy strats that were just pure fun. Fuk macro boring python, fuk gaia and its obstacles and critter everywhere that just annoy the sh!t out of me, Tau cross is OK just macro as well and it doesn't have ramps so less strategics bo, baek is just plain boring because we have to scout all over the maps in order to prevent any greedy bases, and its center is just painfull to play. And no i don't like them just because i lose everytime on them, in fact i've a positive ratio on all those maps, it's just that it's so boring to play nothing more. Hell i'll stop there because i may face so many haters now that i've mentionned all my thoughts. I'll just say : stop whining. ![]() | ||

GOOD JOB WCG THANK YOU. Python/Blue/Tau/Gaia/Peaks was probably the BEST and most balanced map pool that WCG ever ever ever ever could have gotten... and now you do what? Just leave thing all out to the Koreans who practice those maps 15h a day anyway? Thats just not fair. For all of those who have practiced for WCG, during their freetime, playing these maps, going thru qualifiers with these maps, and undoubetly going thru regionals with these same maps, this is a nightmare. WCG honestly needs 2 look into the non-korean interests, because altho korea is 1 big sc country, there are many other countries in this tournament. Try and show some professionalism and don't ruin our WCG by catering to a few koreans. Play the good maps, Python Tau BS Peaks Gaia. The new ones we all know aren't balanced properly. For all you who say that python tau are overplayed, its because there GREAT maps. Every1 enjoys them, they lead to GREAT macro games. If you find macro games boring, its cuz your not watching the right reps! Anyway Thats my 2 cents. Hope we can change this.. ! | ||

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I find that changing the maps at this stage to be outrageous. Many players take this tournament very seriously as it is arguably the most prestigious Starcraft: Broodwar tournament on the calendar, and therefore many gamers spend months practicing the maps. Many national qualifiers have been completed or are currently underway with the old map pool. I believe that the reason given for the map changes on the WCG news post (“Following the gamer and community feedback, WCG committee has updated the rules for better tournament operations as below.”) to be laughable. I will go out on a limb and assume that the only community that has requested this is the Korean community, because the outrage in the non-Korean community is clear to see. If you really do listen to user feedback then you will act as a professional organisation should and change the maps back. Here is how the news was taken on the two biggest Starcraft: Broodwar community sites: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=74161 http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft/news/8609-world-cyber-games-changes-map-pool-again Here are some quotes from these threads: “that must be a joke=? how can they change the mappool so close before wcg qualifications? i only played python, tau cross, gaia, peaks and blue last 2 months.... even didnt play andromeda or Troy because i only used old WCG maps LOOOOOOL so sad and koreans will win now even easier... “ “For all of those who have practiced for WCG, during their freetime, playing these maps, going thru qualifiers with these maps, and undoubetly going thru regionals with these same maps, this is a nightmare. I don't think it's fucked up that much to change them for the grand finals. | ||

I don't think it's fucked up that much to change them for the grand finals. I disagree with your opinion. I think it's very fucked up. edit: I guess if it doesn't effect regionals or national finals it won't really effect me, but it's still unfair to help Koreans who have unlimited practice time anyway vs foreigners who can't play 24/7 and have already been playing the other set of maps. It also means people must practice one set of maps to try and qualify for the grand finals and then they only have that time span from the end of their counrty's finals to the grand final to practice the new maps. | ||
