Anyway, tough luck for Leta but about what everyone expected. It's rough when your first control group of marines finishes as Soma's defiler mound does... lol

After he kept his cool vs angry face JD on stage who already survived Flash (and Bisu). And I always thought Light has the best TvZ since KeSPA days. Although Piano seemed to better at it around 3 years ago.

I suppose it won't happen, but seeding the bracket stage (think Tennis) could avoid some of these issues.

It’s my understanding he’s not really a Kespa product, as basically most of the business end of the ASL is. IIRC he wasn’t entirely lacking contact and had a stint as a practice partner so isn’t entirely an amateur with no exposure competing at this level, but still impressive nonetheless How’d he get so good? And what does he do particularly well? IIRC he’s very good at mineral boosting and optimisations of builds from that. Or alternatively, why aren’t there more Somas? A pretty daunting task in the finals for the lad either way. Light is on something of a tear and his numbers reflect that lately. Or you’ve got Flash who is well, Flash. Light’s probably the more dangerous opponent if it were to happen today. But Flash’s latent level is huge, and if you give him a period to hardcore grind for one match, well that might be harder still

I mean Tulbo and Leta got as far as they did by beating players they weren’t expected to beat, which wouldn’t really be resolved by seeding because the higher seed is expected to win. If you wanna keep out players scraping through who aren’t quite of playoff tier standard, for my money get rid of the Bo1 element. It massively favours underdogs Personally I find it quite exciting and am OK with it, but it absolutely favours worse players. You just have to get the luck of the build green once, or play a fantastic game once, rather than potentially 3+ times SC2 has never really done the Bo1 thing and has formats that stretch from more forgiving, to almost guaranteeing the best make it through (such as round robins). Which can make the early stages pretty boring and predictable, but it tends to take a huge performance from an underdog to get into a spot where they’re way outmatched, usually the strong players reliably make it through

Sad to see that 2 port wraith play can be hard countered so hard in the hands of someone like Soma. I still somewhat hope it stays a viable build that one can use as a secret weapon from time to time.
