him + speed they have a similar skillset Did you watch Speed vs Hero on Roaring Currents? He has the same JyJ finesse playing the two Starport Leta play. Funny enough True also plays a bit like Hero, both are very early-game conscious. I rewatched ASL 15 JyJ vs Hero 7th game recently. Rekindling does wonders for the memory, it seemed to pale since I watched the live broadcast. Does the meta change, or players fade I wonder. Speed did so much better vs Hero than JyJ that game. Games were much closer then, although not saying JyJ wasn't decisive in that game. That game was won from the get go. Motive and teolbo also had such brilliant moments. The insane genius of these players are their persistence. I am yet to see a single game they lost track of the opponent. They have a charming try hard attitude. They try things Boxer would attempt, Speed less erroneously so although he too has strong matchup weaknesses.

I can and do respect plenty of cheeses and cheesy players, but when you just throw it out literally every game, in every match up, you're just producing shitty games 90%+ of the time. Whether you win or lose, I hate it all the same and I will always root against that type of player. With that said, the last game was really entertaining lol.
I am also happy for BeSt to make it out but I feel heartbreak for poor Queen with how he lost. There's always next year Champ.
There's actually a fantastic shot for someone to win ASL that's never done it before this year. Also, there's a real good shot for a Protoss to actually win. I'm digging this season so far. Soma wins. I can concur. Based on based level and form, he seems the most likely at this point.
But he has to get out of Ro16 first. We saw already how a Bo1 can decide the fate of the group with Soulkey's.

Those two series would awesome. Best would be favorite imo...
Not sure. a confident Barracks can shake Best. And if Best is shaken, we all know what's going to happen. Although Best looks quite strong mentally right now. I hope they meet ^^

These were great games for me to watch two Ps advance with fun PvZs

Legend of the fall is real

Man Zerg had a ton for just losing muta packs for no damage repeatedly.
Think tastosis miscast the composition of bests army. The gas does so much.
Feel mixed on best overall. I guess I expect snow mini micro from these SKT1Toss.
I kinda wish we saw more harassment and storm drops brought into mid late game play.

Fuck yes Bisu advances first and Best Powers through while playing from behind.

Best Queen 3rd match was so close. Best's desperate attack with hydras surrounding his last few dragoons and then zealot reinforcements arriving just in time to save them. Then Queen's 2 lurkers hatching and fending off the zealots+dragoons, only for Best's 2 templars arriving with storm. Queen was almost crying.

Such awesome games from this group. I feel like best vs bts final game was one of the biggest comebacks in ASL history.

Best's biggest flaw as a player is he gives 100% in matches he's got no real chance of winning, dragging them out to 20 minutes by spending all his inspiration and losing anyways - and then he's exhausted so he runs out of steam in later games.
If Barracks can take a decisive early game lead, and patiently play with his food in game 1 to wear Best out, he can win the series. If the games are all close and equally exhausting on both sides, I don't think there's a single terran I favor over Best right now.

That last game between Best and Queen was some of the most clutch eehan timing plays I've seen in a while. If Best pushed literally one second later he would have lost and we wouldn't have had that amazing revenge finals match against BTS--and then probably would have CheeseTS in the Ro8 after some lame ZvZzzz's.

I really enjoyed this group.

Many things had to fall in place for him though. It was more of a coincidence than a timing for me:
Queen had a group of lings or something at Best's 3rd. His group of Muta was harassing Best's natural. Queen just took his 4th base and had some units there to defend it. Another group of Hydra was also at his 3rd. All 4 groups were not in position when Best came knocking at the front door. Best only had to fight portion after portion of Queen's army at a time.

i mean... it wasnt a surprise attack now, was it?

I bet Bisudagger has a 3D printed mini Bisu statue, designed in freeCAD. He uses it as:
A) lucky talisman. B) air refreshener. C) key holder weight.
Anyway Bisu smacked Zero like a real bitch Queen. It's so satisfying to watch after all those Bisu's flops.

Nonsense! BTS is the most exciting player in years to come! He prepared his builds according to his skill level! If he had faced low-ass protoss like Tyson, Paralize or Motive (somewhat his own rank), he could have played standard as he had more confidence. The only problem i saw was his lair zerg commitment in the final game, which led to his downfall.

Nah. Exciting is someone like Speed who showed his skill. It's alright if you mix it in here and there, but BTS just performed cheese after cheese in almost every game, including against Barracks in Ro24. His game relies on some 'gotcha' moments because his opponents lack information, which is due to the design of the game, not because of his brilliance. Would you find a Protoss who keeps doing DT rush, proxy 99 or 1 base all in exciting?

It is really a stretch to hear from someone who has a cognitive bias against protoss ground army advantage vs zerg that BTS is doing it wrong. It happened Shuttle vs Queen and now Best vs Queen. You couldn't compute both times. Let's face it, everything you say about pvz is wrong and both sides of the aisle will lose if they ever listen to you. PvZ is won by clumping together your units and breaking your enemy's unit formations. On August 21 2025 02:49 Magic Powers wrote: Just wait until someone tells mtcn that protoss can do cannon rush in PvZ and it's actually a very popular strat these days. To me it's like saying you win a fight by killing their units and keeping your units alive. Holy shit. Big if true.

You keep making points, Zero loses by having bunch of units all over the map in different bases while his opponents attack. Well, duh. One would assume you would put two together.
