Soulkey left it on Sea to do the switch or what was it about? Thanks for clarify. ;-)
Anyways..

Soulkey + Rush
HerO + JD
Snow + Mini
Stork + Light

But huge factor will definitely be the selected maps for bo1 part..
never too old for starcraft :)

Does anyone know how the switch works? Soulkey picks who to switch for who? Or what? Kinda weird for him to take JyJ, who is very good tvz. I get the JD switch(because zvz is tricky) and i get the terran choice(easier to prepare) just dont get why he went for JyJ, also not sure what are the exact rules?

He cant switch first picks. He also want a T. So the options are JyJ,Royal and Light.

SK,Rush
herO,Bisu
SnOw,Mini
Stork,Light

Aw man my boy Barracks is so cooked....

A: SK/Rush
B: herO/Bisu, but I could see JD making it out instead of Bisu.
C: Rain/SnOw (assuming Rain's PvP is back on point... if this were any other group I feel like he'd be out)
D: Sharp/Light (Stork was lookin good but ngl it's hard to trust)

So apprarently Soulkey had been teasing/announcing that he would pick Sea first. In response, Sea threatened Soulkey to make a group of death that would include Jaedong. Soulkey picked up Sea first anyways. In the next round, when it was Sea's turn to pick the third member of the group, Soulkey offered to give him "his power" to make the last change in the group as long as Jaedong didn't join their group and stated that he didn't care if anyone else joined. Sea liked the offer and they made a pinky swear (lol), apparently in part because he liked the idea of having that "much" power. Sea picked Rush, however, Rush picked Jaedong anyways. Soulkey had the power to move Jaedong away if he wanted anyways, but also seems like Sea was actually grateful to Soulkey so he honored his part of the deal and swapped JD away.

Why is Soulkey afraid of Jaedong? Jaedong's vZ is his worst matchup according to ASL stats

At least in the old Kespa era, JD's zvz win rate was close to 70% if my memory serves correctly, and was leading the 2nd by a wide margin.

zvz by nature is highly dependent on opening, so SK would want to avoid any zvz (JD or not) if he could.

Interesting JD was picked so late. His form must be pretty good atm.

Group C is brutal, but about as good as Rain could've hoped for.

Same with D, looks really tough for Stork but also he'll be decently happy he only needs to prepare for PvT.

Predictions:

A: SK and Rush
B: Hero and Bisu
C: Snow and Mini
D: Light and Sharp

Some really sick groups, gotta say.. bummer that 3 great protosses are in group C.. I hope that 2 of them will be able to get out at least. Bisu and Jaedong in the same group, too.. is this 2009? :D Good stuff.

Should be a very interesting Ro16!

Well actually, its not. I have been watching his stream for long time, and while his form at the beginning of August was interesting and promising, the last 3 weeks were a total decline. Even his matches during the group competition were far from good. This decider match vs Shine was actually played badly by Shine rather than well by JD. Shine did not take advantage of the fact that he had a spore in both bases and instead of destroying JD's economy, he allowed him to set up a third base..

Anyway I really cheer for JD, but I think he is causing fear because of his unpredictable nature and experience mixed with hype, rather than his current shape .

Here are his stats from 29 July till now, in ProLeauge:

vs p W:8 L: 9
vs z W: 6 L: 7
vs t W:7 L: 9

Many new comers are emerging lately, but bw is such a difficult game, that you have some players that will qualify for ASL (SSL) every single time, yet, have absolutely zero chance to win it. Jaedong is one of them. Very strong, still stronger than the new comers, but cannot win an ASL, even a finals is extremely unlikely. Just like BeSt, Shine and many others.

From what i can see the problem with JD is simply... lack of practice. Just look at his youtube channel - most of the vids is him playing tenis and football and talking to girls - and notice how often he streams on afreeca playing competetively. I believe Snow is practicing like two times more in terms of quantity. If he puts the hours he might have a decent chance at least to reach ro8 every time. Something like what hero is doing.

Anyone know why they pushed back the start of RO16 by a week?

I booked a trip to South Korea in part because I wanted to attend SSL once in my life and had assumed that Groups A and B were going to be on September 18th and 19th as it said on Liquipedia. Now it turns out they're on the 23rd and 24th, when I'll be gone. Oh well, win some lose some.

It's still a build order win like half of the time. In the finals the advantaged build won every single game.

I think it's not specifically about JD, but rather about avoiding ZvZ. JD was the only non-seeded Zerg remaining.
