Interesting how Flash went 6-0 in TvP and 3-4 in TvZ this ASL (not including wildcard matches), ez-mode rolling both Mini and Shuttle while looking vulnerable against Jaedong and Effort. Way too small of a sample size to jump to hasty conclusions (would be better to look at sponmatch stats), but it's nonetheless really cool to see that at least on the big stage, zergs were able to exploit Flash's early-mid game vulnerabilites in TvZ with smart, ballsy play, which I think silences the idea that Flash's TvZ is broken and unbeatable due to 1-1-1 or some other tesagi shenanigans (at least when it matters most: in the finals of the currently most prestigious BW tournament). We should be grateful to both Effort and Flash for such an awesome finals. Even gods bleed.

I understand that theyre the only ones available but Rapid/Noregret if you're reading this, step your game up and put some effort into learning brood war. The fans have been telling you this ever since the release of remastered and its still mute or korean casters every time you're on air. User was warned for this post.

And for next season, I will be rooting for Flash to join and win one more time before going off to the army...

You already, I would lay into that man like he was my own son who bullied someone in school. “How you let effort play you like fucking fiddle!!!” “50 push-ups every game u lose!!!” I could straighten him out back to ultimate weapon mode in 1 hour. If I was coaching flash I would have said to start game 1 with the 2rax academy build and do it until it fails. Autobahn is a perfectly fine tvz map but not if you just give the fucking game away on a silver plate. He didn’t even scout to check if there is a ling all in and just gets swamped by 30 lings. And lost to Jaedong doing the same thing. He needs to go into the military ASAP to get his discipline back.

Shine's bag of tricks couldn't withstand Flash, nor could Hero's straightforward, solid ZvT, but man did Effort deliver beyond expectations. I doubt many predicted this finals would be this good. It's also worth nothing that this is the first ASL finals that wasn't a 3-1 or 3-0. Game 3 was a beautiful play from Effort into a pivot (hydra + plague) that he didn't push hard enough imo. I think plague with upgraded hydras could melt mnm? I don't know? Can anyone go into detail on that? Game 4 was just a beautiful strat. I've been thinking about a 2 base hive thing you could do and this seems to be something like it. Hive tech just completely destroys that greediness, or, you know, speedlings lol Game 5 was just... intense from the very first vulture. It's insane how much the crowd reaction adds to the experience. Lovely series. I liked game 1 & 2 because, even though they were short and basically decided by mismanagement, they showed flexibility, possibility, decision making and how difficult it is to accurately assess certain situations.

I know that some people get annoyed by Flash fans but honestly I think the best part about rooting for Flash is that either he wins in a dominating fashion which I always find aweinspiring or he loses to an incredibly skilled player like Effort who seemingly pulls off the impossible and creates great games like these. That was damn good Starcraft.

Just Flash commentaries alone were golden the last time we had a translation. Can someone actually translate this? Also, anyone know where to find reviews of games such as this series here on TL, YT or otherwise? I want to know what build orders both players used throughout the series, it's hard to tell what kind of 1-1-1 flash used in these games (is it strictly speaking the standard 1-1-1 he does or some variant?)

He thought 5 rax was starting to get figured out even though it was still winning a lot at the time so innovated the new-style 1-1-1 to push the meta ahead. He also said he could win any game with 5rax, but the mechanical intensity of it was hard on his wrists and would be painful to do for an entire best of series. I told my wife before game five, if Flash goes 5rax he will win. Guess what, after a failed 1/1/1 he went into 5rax lolol. Too little too late though. Flash lost himself the championship by predictable play that effort prepared for.

I felt like rapid was ignoring or not listening to noregret a lot. I just feel like he needs to chill a little bit, maybe he feels like he needs to step up when he's got another inexperienced bw caster but it just comes across as rude when he's ignoring, talking over or undermining his co-caster. It doesn't feel like he respects his co-caster or sees him as a partner he can rely on to talk when he pauses and gather his thoughts and I feel like rapid has improved a lot and can be really informative and analytical when he does do that. I imagine it's super hard to talk and analyze a game at the same time with all the pressure to be entertaining, analytical and witty. But often when he's casting with inexperienced casters he falls into patterns of just talking non-stop and after a bit the only thing he talks about is predicting what will happen in the next half second which isn't entertaining or interesting.
