Due to the Battle.net chat bug and 40-man limit in chat channels, we highly recommend that people join our Discord server. This is free and can be used straight from your web browser (NO installation required!). Joining the server will allow you to find your opponents easily and ask admins for help. Click here to join the Discord server. You can ping admins by typing @admin in the chat.
Rules
Location - EU server, channel TLOpen
Turn rate - TR12 is the default. Players can agree to use any turn rate.
Player eligibility - No Korean or Chinese IP addresses. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis at the tournament admins' discretion.
Players may change race between games. Random is allowed.
DQ time is 15 minutes. Please be careful of the B-net chat bug!
Players must use the same ID on Battle.net, Challonge, and Discord if possible. Otherwise it becomes difficult to find your opponent and can lead to incorrect WOs.
The winner of each match must upload the replay to Challonge.
If there is a disconnect, replay the game unless one player disputes (due to having a large advantage). Then, a TL admin must watch the replay and make a decision to regame or give the win. TL admins have the final decision in ALL situations.
Please note the following changes from TL Open #1:
- Check-in opens 30 minutes before the tournament starts and is required - We now have a Discord server to help avoid the B-net chat bug. Please read the new section above.
Rules updates:
- Players must use the same ID on Battle.net, Challonge, and Discord if possible. Otherwise it becomes difficult to find your opponent and can lead to incorrect WOs. - The winner of each match must upload the replay to Challonge.
Map pool is the same this week since we already have quite a few other changes, but we are open to rotating out one of the maps for the next tournament. Various people have suggested taking out Gladiator.
@sayle, can you please remove "No, Scan is NOT allowed to play."? First TL Open #1 announcement was a bit funny, I get the joke and understand, but let's not use it constantly

If you went for parity with ASL4, I'd suggest not to give in. Gladiator is not a bad map.
Check-in opens in 30 minutes! Players please make sure you check-in on Challonge!
Also, please join our Discord server by clicking here! It can be used straight from your web browser, no installation needed. We will be using this to avoid the B-net chat bug.
Remember to use the same name on Challonge, B-net, and Discord so that your opponents can find you!
I have to say, the Blizzard developers really outdo themselves time and again when patching BW. Newest feature: Getting desynched while obsing a live game.
yeah mana was near the top before changing. One thing that has seemed clear so far is that the players who went pro in sc2 largely seem to have both maintained/increased their speed while developing habits that are easily transferable to brood war. Basically, sc2 was played more seriously by more nonkoreans than what was ever the case for BW in the past, and that seriousness in approach does seem to transfer quite nicely. Pretty much none of the top bw players pre-sc2 continued playing bw full time (tbh, sziky is the only one who really qualifies). Strategically the game has evolved since 2009, and players who left bw for sc2 need some time to relearn proper timings, but mechanically, I've noticed that the ones who changed to sc2 seem just as crisp, if not even more so, shortly after starting to play again.
