Ladder Clan League is going to use a tiered system in which teams will be instructed to provide a line up of different caliber players. This line up will have 5 different skill levels with assigned players to each skill level. The team will then select which of their players from each skill level they would like to have compete in their respective matches.

Each set of the best of 7 will be a best of 3 with the possibility of interchanging players between games. In the end, it will not only depend on your top players performing at maximum, but also for them to push their little noobies to the best they possibly can be. A full team effort of all ranks will be required to take the win.
All Sorting of the skill levels will be done by the league in between clan wars. It is likely that a few errors occur in season 1 in terms of placement and for this very reason, season 1 will be kept relatively short. No referees will be present, so it is recommended that experience leaders take charge of the teams and take screen shots of any issues.
Format
Teams divided into groups of 4 in order to play a Round Robin from which 2 teams will emerge of each group, these teams will then face each other in a single elimination bracket. The clan war format will be Best of 7 matches x Best of 3 games with interchanging players between games allowed.

I think it would be better to make clan partnerships between the GU clans and the D rank clans and have them play together. I'm sorry, but I doubt new ''teams'' with such high skill disparity will form just for this.

Which is why I'd be looking for some high skill clans to come in and pick up some players from here to make themselves one or two teams for this.
EDIT: I think that as a D rank player this league would present an awesome opportunity and I encourage you to propose this in D rank threads as well as C and other tourney threads/PM active players if posting is unsavory.

1) No limit defined yet - Obviously a ton of players on one team has no purpose. 2) None yet defined, will be determined based on relative ranks of other sign ups - if there are 10 A- and 5 B-, then a B would get sorted down, opposite, B would get sorted up. 3) Possible, not guaranteed until we have a good head count from other teams. 4) Infinite! (I would guess we wouldn't get more than 16... Which is high at that. 5) lets say 3 for Round Robin, between 2 - 3 for playoffs... 5 or 6 weeks. 6) Likely will be guided by an elo system after the original sorting, however, players who are misplaced may be moved at any time 7) I don't expect huge participation in the first season to be honest, it'll largely be based out of this thread with replays reported to the e-mail 8) None as of yet, it will depend on the overall experience of clan leaders, if there are no 0 day experience leaders, I would expect to attempt a run without one (since it would essentially be this if a ref were there anyway given quantity of simultaneous games). 9) The start date may be moved back as required.

I actually REALLY think this is a great idea, mainly because of it's potential to get all players practicing together. It gives those in the yellow and blue ranks people of higher ranks that are now motivated to help them get better.
Structured well this could really help do wonders, especially for that neglected gap of higher yellow/lower blue.
Fuck now I feel like improving again so that I don't get lumped into group 3... why you need to inspire these feelings!
But honestly this is a great idea as it solves all of the issues of DRTL (players not wanting to rank up and hit C's) and allows lesser players to be in an environment where they can benefit from being around better players (which should amount to better training).

Someone is clearly lying. How can someone be a higher rank on iccup (or even the same rank) but be light years behind in fish rank. The difference between 1300 and 1400 on fish is huge.
I didnt play more then 30-40 games at fish per season, but still I think im not able to make higher rank then 1300 ( my max is 1302 to be exact). What more, im good at pvz where there is a higher % of Z players on icc (I think)

At first glance, you need tier 4 and 5 players... But I need a full count (of all teams) before I can say for sure.

Mazur probably plays (played) more on ICCup and got a higher ranking, dsaqwe focusses probably less on ICCup but trains more on Fish. Or dsaqwe played a lot more on Fish after ICCup had less B +++ ranked players. Nobody "needs" to lie in this scenario, if both just reported high ranks from the past 2-3 years.

I think it'll be postponed at least by a week or so... I think the league is good for low level players. every Team has players from rank A B C D And they play eachother: A vs A - B vs B - C vs C - D vs D So for a better chance of winning the clanwar, the A and B players have to train their C and D players to make them stronger. Even is A is not winning, if he can make his D good enough, it will compensate. Or other explanation: the A player cant be ignorant and let the D player do what he wants, cause at this way the team cant really win clanwars.

Really, the big thing here is there's too big of a gap (in my opinion) to cover with 2 tiers, however, there aren't enough players at this level to do so. You can split D ranks into 5 different skill zones and you'll still have enough to fill all teams, these players, not the case. It's nothing against Zaraki, but in all honesty, he's got a terrible win rate against the top players which would e in tier 1. LocDog is arguable because he plays protoss and protoss can win any game with DTs, but he hasn't been the most active, so I'm going to check how he does there first. If they destroy too much, I'll bump them up... It's not hard to mix things up at any given time.

Second point, I don't understand, the gap is not meant to be closed, it's A/B vs A/B, B-/C+ vs B-/C+, C/C- vs C/C-, D vs D.
Maybe it would be usefull to have a summary at the startpost of all players who want to play, listet with their rank, if free or which team they already in, sortet by tier...would make it easier for clans to come together and look for additions to their line...
this is going to be funny but need to be started and cleared up somehow. call me dumb or whatever u want but i disagree with our tier groups (i should be tier3) and still dont know how many players need to recruit, and as draw said pez and non are kinda inactive, i just put them in the list to make me an idea of what tier they are, but i only get more confused, not to mention fless that he has never showed for a cw since he is in sas.. so.. xd ghost that would be so nice :D

Pretty sick team... personal rating from 1-10 tier 1: 9. the only thing missing is sziky. tier 2: 8. Solid with all 3 races. tier 3: 5. good, consistent players but it IS a B-/C+ tier and I only see 1 B- there afaik tier 4: 7. Pretty solid players C/C- (both are very committed to what they do afaik). Tier 5: 8. Active/good players and can take down any player from their tier.

All teams with 1 player at a tier are custom teams.

There were more C+ ranks than D+ ranks, only reason for the division shifting many C ranks into C-/D+ territory. (though, D+ players can beat either of these, not to bash them, but give yourself a bit more credit... Even though you were basically second to the cut off ) Sorry, the cut has to be done somewhere.

I do disagree with the redistribution in the sense that some teams have but 1 player at a tier, making their choice too predictable, no? Also makes that player have a lot f pressure, no off weeks...

yeah that many T1 in game's team doesn't make sense, they wont ever play . For sas team we may work on transferring players but I think that overall some adjustments should be made ggzerg and white are not even b- so they should definitely not be in tier 2, you say that "he claims to be that level" but then plumbum says the same claim and you keep him in tier 1 regardless, so be consistent please. (eg. Telecom claims B-/+ but he loses in YSL or ASL w.e to fold pretty easy and fold is in tier3...)

I agree...but so the players can play more often...if you have all tier 1 at your team, you still need to win tier 2-5 games too...otherwise you loose every match with 1-4...

Eywa I don't know why your letting game manipulate you. Personally I don't care that much that my team won't ever win as I just want an excuse to play a bit, but there's no reason to let game step on your well designed league. Same goes for game, there is no reason to sabotage what could be a nice tourney.

I actually don't believe I should be in Tier 3 because I was C+ about 3 years ago and barely C+ at that. I haven't played consistently for about 3 years and I haven't even reached C- yet.

We should stick to individual league maps as they are less experimental and more balanced.
No reverse ramp maps for T3-5, they were designed to balance Protoss at the top levels and promote early game aggression, however given the win-rate of Protoss and amount of aggression in the lower ranks we should remove them.
Remove the ability for T5 to choose any map from 2007. The lower the level, the less maps are played, really the map pool should grow as you go up tiers, not the other way around.

There is a .dll you can put on your desktop and double-click. It's very easy, search the [G] Korean Gateways thread.

every time you start the iccup launcher it adds the iccup server to your registry on default.

I don't know how many days a week/ how many games per cast you want to cast, but everyone is going to want to see themselves play (especially people who otherwise would never get casted). I would recommend every tier 1 game, and 1 game from all the other Bo3s.
Why would anyone want to see only one game from a bo3? Talk about anticlimactic when the caster casts the first game and then tells you that the other player made an epic comeback and won in the games we won't be watching. Better to choose 2 series (or however many you think you can manage) at random, and do all tiers in that series. Everyone won't be casted every week, but everyone will be casted some week. I don't like reading half books or watching half movies either
I don't think that is terribly important for me personally. But you could still have suspense by always casting one of the games that the winner of the series wins, so you know if your guy ends up winning this game, they win the series.

The Bo3 can involve up to six different players (3 from both teams). So the comebacks will be done by different players.

One CW can be up to 19 games (assuming ace is Bo1) so even one CW is going to be a really long 4-5+ hr cast. So, done in it's entirety one per day is pretty much the max possible. I may be able to get to 2, or even all 3 fairly often; but of course it's no guarantee.
I'm totally fine with the overall concept though.
Obviously, if there is someone else that's wants to cast then it should be pretty doable to cast entire CW's, and all of them, every week.

It's better because it has more activity, more active players, a built-in smurf filter (obviously not perfect, but who has even that?), the same LAN latency, and a higher average skill level. By gold standard I was inferring that the best opportunities for high level play at a public level exists there. I also meant .reg in my powt, that is my mistake. WLauncher should work if updated. ICCup being known to everyone is a questionable fact, but the fact that even this knowledge does not stipulate greater activity and therefore greater use of this knowledge is undeniable; fish is simply way more active and competitive. I still don't get why we have to play on Fish. As far as I see it, nothing of what you mentioned affects us who actually play. I only see 1. people dropping out because they don't want to go through the trouble of adding Fish etc, 2. people having to create new accounts for Fish and fixing Fish, launchers etc that they're not used to, 3. and people playing their games on ICCUP instead because things didn't work properly.
You can say that Fish is gold standard all you want, it won't change the fact that most non-Koreans play on ICCUP. Being pragmatic, all that's relevant here is if it causes trouble or not. Fish in this case, caused trouble last time we played.

So if i play on fish, i might understand the reason? what? why...better latency or... you know say why it is better...just say it is, which doesnt help/answer much :/
And i cant find a .dll in the thread.. all i found was a regfile and mini, which i will try and look if this works better I was using wlauncher to play on fish, but ingame my opponent got dropped and game stopped... i was also downloading mini but it took me over 3h for 5mb to download, so i couldnt try it at this point.
I dont have anything against fish, just that iccup is known to everybody... the situation was like: ok DRIT all games will be played on fish, do it.
It's better because it has more activity, more active players, a built-in smurf filter (obviously not perfect, but who has even that?), the same LAN latency, and a higher average skill level. By gold standard I was inferring that the best opportunities for high level play at a public level exists there. I also meant .reg in my powt, that is my mistake. WLauncher should work if updated. ICCup being known to everyone is a questionable fact, but the fact that even this knowledge does not stipulate greater activity and therefore greater use of this knowledge is undeniable; fish is simply way more active and competitive. I'm sure a lot more high-level Koreans play on fish than ICC, probably mid-tier players as well - meaning a majority of players play on it..
I still don't get why we have to play on Fish. As far as I see it, nothing of what you mentioned affects us who actually play. I only see 1. people dropping out because they don't want to go through the trouble of adding Fish etc, 2. people having to create new accounts for Fish and fixing Fish, launchers etc that they're not used to, 3. and people playing their games on ICCUP instead because things didn't work properly.
You can say that Fish is gold standard all you want, it won't change the fact that most non-Koreans play on ICCUP. Being pragmatic, all that's relevant here is if it causes trouble or not. Fish in this case, caused trouble last time we played.
2weeks ago when I hit C- I had to wait ages to find opponents on C-. By now there are tons of foreigners who play mainly on fish, and all leagues of Eywa have been played there since ages, aswell. Adding fish is just so simply, double click a .reg file and you're done. If you didn't have chaos launcher by now, go and get it. Creating a new account takes 30seconds.. and idk what you mean by fixing fish, chaos launcher was the launcher used long ago when ppl still played on europe. Ppl playing on iccup because things didn't work properly is their fault, it's anything but hard to play on fish. Get chaoslauncher with LatencyChanger, get the .reg and double click it, join fish and create an account. Takes a total of a couple of minutes. All the qq'ing here takes up more time than setting up fish.

yea, I kind of figured he would just cast what he has. He isn't casting everything anyway, and only casting reps that get submitted makes it easy to decide what gets casted.
I came back after ankle left and he said he had to go and would be back in 1-2 hours so I left and I had stuff to do. I'm open to play our games whenever he wants. He can message me via teamliquid PM. I'm busy Thursday during the day and mon-fri from 5pm to 10:30pm cause of work but otherwise I'm free.

I was waiting in part on reps and also to see how many more responses to my poll, for casting options but no one really seems to be voting in it. The basic issue is even one CW is borderline too big to cast in one sitting (up to 19 games) as I am not Sayle.

If its not too late add pls sas.DiD to sas team in Tier5, he was like C- C few seasons ago but he doesnt really play 1v1 anymore, only 2v2 sometimes, so he said hes like D+ now 1v1... Thanks

Yeah. Random is a race, and it benefits from the opponent not knowing what race you are, making it harder for them to open correctly. Eywa also doesn't ban random.
To me Random is a bitch and shouldnt be allowed in competitive tournaments.your opponent is in a really big disadvantage. i also told him that he can play random if he want,but he must tell me his race,he declined.

I don't want to speak in terms of conflict of interest, as the more this league progresses, the closer my team is to just winning the money, but both teams we've played so far (despite only 2 players being there this week) have been pretty damn manner, something I'm not used to. It's been very fun so far.
As far as league issues, I'm gonna go with minimal. The largest issues are the lack of leadership per team. I don't understand how people can sign up for a league, then once dispersed into teams expect the organizer to individually PM like 100 people when it's their responsibility as a player of the league to check the thread. In other words, if you drive with a blindfold on, you can't blame the guy who is inevitably going to hit you. I fail to believe that with how the teams are laid out that there is the inability to compete relatively well, teams just need leadership.
Suggestion: Every team should have a designated leader, if you request one, one will appear. Generally, the higher level the player, the more responsible leader they'll be. It also helps that they have more of an understanding of the game, and can better lay out practice fundamentals and proper lineups.
Next, every player download Skype and check it twice daily like an e-mail. With that, make a Skype group per team with every player in it. Wallah, mission accomplished.
tl;dr Stop crying if you're on a team having trouble, it's no ones fault except your own. If you don't try, you'll never succeed.

And a great post on how to smoothen out the league! Hopefully all teams will act the way described above, this can really turn out to be a great league for all the players if the teams get some decent organisation going.

i will not agree with you. Skill level of playin has nothing to be a good CL. Many best polish CL was noobs in sc:bw but they was verry good clan leaders. Btw this league is quiet good mannered. I was clan leader for many years and nothing can be compared to Netwars Clan Leaque - was really hardcore for many years
for eg. dsaqwe isnt good CL but Skzlime is pretty good. Bith same level of skills in sc;bw

Sorry to Team 1 for not showing up, I kept checking this topic but eventually gave up cause it seemed like the league was never gonna start, but apparently it suddenly did. I'll be there for future matches. Do we have like a channel or anything?

Also I am very busy these days. I can make time for games but I can't practice that much. If anyone on the team wants games they should message me through skype group though.
Eywa, get someone to help you run this. You're allowed to do other things with your life, but it seems that a referee would have helped before, you're difficult to reach when things come up, and results aren't being presented/demanded for in a timely manner (I also like compulsively updated liquipedia pages). A tiered clanleague is an awesome idea and I'd hate to see it flop.

For example, I play zvt zvp pvz, if some random dude tells me he wont pick his cus he is random (despite being able to do it)

could someone with authority edit the OP to contain starting maps and the map pool? right now you can only find them if you filter through the comments. knowing repeat tiers before the start of the cw would also be nice. i guess i could understand releasing it right at the start, but still not knowing which tier is supposed to play twice after the cw has pretty much finished is really lame, even for a league whose organiser/sponsor nonchalantly admitted to not caring about at all.
newly formed teams, please try to pull your act together, this league is already pretty hard to navigate. it's the third week, you should have some kind of cohesion by this point. i finally managed to organise all unplayed pp games, and now i have another 4 to spend time on. one game per cw is not a big deal, but constantly having more unplayable tiers than possible ones is a real pain. thank you for taking the time to read this.
Our team is now officially organized. However, since GGzerg apparently left the league, and White has never reared his (ugly) head, we desperately need some tier 4 players.

I think 2 hours and 47 minutes (most of which you were afk) is ample enough time for us to wait. I have no interested in bothering my players mid-week to accommodate your players schedule. I suggest you take the same actions.

Having a high apm just means that you can play fast, but it doesn't translate towards actual skills. That's where the game knowledge and sense comes in, which I don't have. If you look at that replay, I don't think I even responded to his build correctly at all...
Yeah, apm is often does not translate to skill (ex. savior, fantasy, sky, shinee all have relatively low apm but imba mechanics). This topic has been discussed to death I hope it wouldn't continue.

Here we go again with the APM = skill stuff. You'd think people would have caught on by now that it doesn't necessarily correlate to skill.
Is it a cause for suspicion? Sure. But crying for an entire team to be banned because a player has high apm/eapm seems a little...excessive.
Obviously, the responses of others pretty much vouch for him and he also streams his play quite a bit so you can always go to his twitch and watch some of his FPView yourself to get a more informed idea of his skill.

He hasn't replied or updated this league, but it's been carrying on fine by itself without the occasional q.qing. From what I've seen so far it's just "DARRRR BE NO UPDATES CAPITON". He listed the CWs by week so far, meaning they should be played. I might mention that slight alteration could be considered an update.
I'm not defending Eywa-'s lack of attention to this league besides conceptualizing, sponsoring, and mildly updating it. What I am doing is pointing out that when something comes down to community unity or self-reliance, it looks like that time of month if you know what I mean. The way I see it is: keep playing, have fun, and stop whining. This is a community event and should not be forum bashed because the community doesn't want to communicate to play in a community event designed for the community.

Every player in this league has a responsibility, not only to play ordered games, also to communicate with others, motivate teammembers and as there is no dictatorship, talk with your clanmembers or other users here, if you have ideas or willing to do more.

I think everyone is taking this league a bit to seriously. It seems teams care way too much about winning and getting points at all costs. There is no need for taking walkovers unless in an extreme situation. This league is about playing games and having fun. Perhaps, player line-ups should also be released in advance thus players who can't make it at the allocated time on Saturday can PM each other and set up another date to play.
I'm going to start to compile results. I only know my team's results so far, so I need people from other teams to help me fill in the rest. I skimmed through the thread to try to find posted results, but it's entierly possible (and downright likely) that I missed at least one.

done. What happened with you guys vs NW2 week 2?
we we won tier 2 and tier 3. NW won tier 5. we pp tier 1 and 4 for them, waited for them next day and they never showed, then we pp again for 1 week and they didn't show up. originally we planned to wait longer for them but since game's team decided to take a wo vs my team in 15 minute i decided that i'm being too nice to these polish guys so i decided to take a wo for tier 1 and 4 also. so we basically won 4-1.
my post above was about week 3, not week 2 (just playweek 2 for us); and hacklebeast, you didn't update it. Also we weren't supposed to play week 1 at all because team NW2 was added after deadline (we had freeslot in week 1). Now both NW teams resigned so we got freewin/wo anyway.
