WOuld love to stay up for this, but I'd be too drunk watching UFC Jones vs. Evans to see this. Too bad this is the most packed groups in the Dual Tournaments.
I'm really happy to see HiyA playing again. I don't know how well he'll do, but even if he loses -- loses embarrassingly, it'll still be preferable to the STX Masters final being his last televised game... what a miserable night that was.
So yeah, no matter the outcome, it's still good. Of course, I'm hoping he wins 2-0 ezpz and crushes through this OSL and KT's like "fuck man, our Terran line sucks, we need HiyA" or some other team picks him up... but this is definitely a start.
please better games that yesterday, please better games than yesterday, please better games that yesterday, please better games than yesterday, please better games that yesterday, please better games than yesterday
also, I'm sturggling here to pick 2 of horang, hiya and zero. theres already too many zergs, but it's zero

I don't think losing embarrassingly here would be better than what happened in the last STX Masters Cup (I wish it was on this year ). I mean, yeah the team got swept clean, but Hiya's game against Sun was probably the best out of all the games played that night. I think he put up a better fight compared to Jaedong and Killer, it's really the fashion in which the team lost that made the night miserable imo, not Hiya's play.
DT tries to do something but dies on the nat with no damage CORSAIRS RETREAT RIGHT INTO FOUR SCOURGES TWO OUT OF THREE DOWN MUTALISK ATTACK, FIERCE BATTLE ON THE MAIN AIUR IS BEING OVERRUN

at least HiyA's up next :D
He just continued a long tradition carried on by hero, type-b, Shine, and Pure, and continued after him by nDieSoo. The only recent OSL with all top tier players in the semis was the Flash, Free, Stork, and Jaedong Ro4.
If anyone noticed upgrades, Horang2 crunched out +2 ranged attack by the time Modesty had +3 attack range. Modesty's ground armor was superrrrr late, considering it was like +1 ground armor, +2 ranged by the time Horang2 had +2 armor, +3 attack. Storms just made it easier for him to roll the zerg army. Also doesn't help Modesty invested into +1 carapace for the mutas. lol....

I don't agree. Obviously he's not gonna be as good as if he were on a team, and most people would expect him to lost to ZerO. But I don't think he's THAT much worse off. At least not enough for them to shut the possibility of him winning down hard. I can't believe he actually said "this game is over" before HiyA GG'd. That's very bad manner, and he still had a chance to win. They would never say such a thing about a player with a team.
I'd still pick HiyA over some players in this ODT.

Wait, the Korean commentators actually say stuff like "this game is over" quite often in largely lopsided games...they mainly just spent the time making comments about how one REALLY needs a team for good prax...

Yeah, they do it all the time. Remember when Stats got his probes blown up by Leta's mine? The commentary for the rest of the game was about how Stats was basically fucked.
What's up with these old strategies? Stork using 2 gate, and Horang2 using dragoon-reaver (even the commentators said that this build is very old)... I might be over-analyzing a bit, but are these players paying tribute to the history of Brood War???

That's usually late in the game, where it's like 4 base to 1 base, kinda like a fantasy GG timing, but not when HiyA still had a chance to win.. crazier things have happened in other games.

Well Horangee scouted hydra den, so going robo actually makes sense. Then his terrible control doesn't.

His build was fine, he spotted the hydra den, so he went reaver instead of sairs. Could have gone hts instead I guess, but theres nothing wrong with a reaver counter. He just sent his reaver + shuttle away before his 2nd reaver was out (and carelessly lost them, though that didnt matter at that point).

Dragoon-reaver is a great idea when you see your opponent trying to kill you with 4 hatcheries of hydras. Stork is quite an old player, and besides he's always been known to mix in gateways, either more often, or with the same frequency as other players (but since he has more games, we see him opening with gates more often).

This doesn't reflect Hiya or that game at all.
So why did he allow all his supply depots to be taken out by two dragoons when he actually had units back in his base (but not using them defend with)?
There were more than two dragoons, and he didn't have infinite detection. Most of his units were, in fact, in the push, which is where he must have estimated most of his chances of winning were.
Seriously two dragoons? Could their DPS possibly bring down 130 supply of depots in that interval?

Why would anyone pick him? Honestly his play was not that good. Lots of huge mistakes.
After 9 months? Of course he's rusty, but he's still got that talent/skill. A little polishing and...things might be a bit more exciting.
It's not the matter of skill, it's that he costs money. Of course every team would want Hiya instead of their 3rd Terran, but most teams don't have the finances for that.
Hiya's timings and overall play wasn't pinpoint and crisp, but it was good overall (cept vs Zero). I'm glad he at least won a game. Maybe we can see more from the Hollywood Fish King in the future!
What's the current official explanation for why Hiya is teamless? He wants some amount of salary that no team would give him? Because, money aside, his skill is certainly above other players on the current active rosters.
Man, if Hiya was actually a true progamer, he probably would've made it out of this group. He looked like an amateur playing today. Kind of sad because he had a very good shot against both Horang2 and Zero.

tbh I doubt any team is looking for BW talent at this point. If they know its only a matter of 3-4 months before its pure sc2 they're not going to focus on scouting BW talent.
hiya played well until that multitasking fail at the end :\. He never even made a starport that game :O. The mains in gladiator are really small though, but still there's no excuse for that.

Aww Hiya. Still a decent showing though considering what a disaster his first game against Zero was. Beating modesty and putting up a respectable effort against Horang2 despite coming out of retirement isn't too bad.
Saw Zero win twice and I thought to myself "surely people will be happy for him and reccomend his games, especially considering his recent losing streak and the fact that he was overall the best player last season" but no, people are crying their eyes out because Hiya lost. Sometimes I just don't get you guys.
Apart from Horang2's awesome army engagement in the first game, no players are playing at a reasonable high level. I can bet that if all of our A/B foreigners make appearance in the OSL, they would not have made some of the fundamental mistakes.

Are you serious? This was probably hiya's last progamer appearance for good barring some miraculous team pickup and you're wondering why people are caring more about that?

The player preference has nothing to do with it. Hiya vs Zero game was TERRIBLE (on Hiya's side).
Ahhh well, at least hiya won a game, and he looked decent halfway decent vs. Horang, so maybe one of the richer teams will take a flyer on him.........

Shouldn't be blaming either of them. It's ridiculous to expect one of them to throw away their OSL chances just to help Hiya. Yeah it sucks he didn't get through, but blame the teams for not picking him, not the other players

There will still be an amateur scene for quite awhile longer, so this will be one of the last major tournaments, but there will be at least some bw to watch for awhile yet. And who knows, maybe the sc2 scene will bomb badly enough that bw will make a comeback in some form..... I can hope.....
