That said, it shouldn't have mattered if he saw a muta switch. 5 base Mutas should run over any army Flash could make out of 2 base.

Muta seem obvious but you are exaggerating Kwanro eco.

He was 3 base vs 4 (with one base being harrassed by vults) and 3 base vs 6 unsaturated base, however at this point, flash had a large army of tank and vultures. Flash also had lifted buildings and scans at this point. Im pretty sure someone of flash caliber would know if kwanro was saving up larvae and resources for muta's. and if its less then 10 muta's, flash has 7 factories and he can mass up critical golliaths in 1 minute . if kwanro had switched to muta and stopped his ground army, vultures would just roll all his expansions and flash would easily reverse the situation (and do note, even with a ground army, vultures rolled almost every single zerg expansion in this game)

I was cringing when Kwanro a-moved 10 ultras from his natural rally point to Flash's 9 o clock and only two got there because all the others got killed by mines. That was ridiculously bad and hilarious at the same time. On March 01 2010 21:43 Highways wrote: Jaedong is able to kill massive Terran mech balls with hydra/muta on 3 bases. He makes it look easy by controlling the game flow. Kwanro on the other hand got dropped, lost some drones/ his pool and then was facing a 3 base terran who tech switched with only 4 bases for himself. Kwanro definitely didn't have 6 bases until Flash was starting to mine 6 o clock (his 4th) at which point he began shelling Kwanro's 6 o clock natural expansion from the high ground. I dont doubt that Kwanro could have played better but it's not like you can just say "Jaedong would have xyz here" and expect it to be the same for Kwanro. Jaedong would have ended the game with the lurkers. JD wouldn't have let Flash set up a third, and probably wouldn't even have gotten dropped. Kwanro just showed no control over the flow of the game. His opportunity to muta switch was way smaller than it's being made out to be. Once Flash has 4 bases and upgraded mech mutas don't just rape everything. In order for a muta switch to work it would have had to have been like, right as Flash lifted his barracks imo. He would have had to have started air upgrades, and constantly switch between hydra and muta to chip away at Flash's army, third base and economy. It would have had to have been contant pressure while expanding himself and preventing any sort of 4th base or push. Even then it would have been a long game (though Kwanro would likely win) If he tried switching after that timing window Kwanro would be fighting 2-1 golaiths and infinite spammed turrents, as Flash took his 4th, with 0-0 muta and some ultras that he would have already made at that point. I'll say it again, I'm pretty sure Kwanro wasn't on 5 gas until Flash had started to set up 6 o clock...
