so do you think Daze's is better? or is there still a skill gap between a foreigners STRONG TvZ and a progamers WEAK TvZ? That question gets better if you ask about Mondragon's ZvP instead. -wow-
gets raped by nalra / reach's pvz though =. = ggnore

Hmm... I actually had an argument with idra a couple of days ago about this. On a map like blitz it can be hard to rush, but a well executed rush / a good containment is probably the best thing to do.
However if you play a guy like nal_ra or some toss with amazing timing and micro, there might be a better way to just try and trick him into thinking you are rushing, and instead making a really fast expansion yourself (like at the same time you are building shop or just when its done, before building tank that is).
Positions and maps are so important when it comes to playing a 14 nexus strat. I usually decide on my guts when to rush and when to not too...

On February 11 2007 12:55 WiSaGaN wrote: Daze, could you say something about countering arbiters or defilers?
Is there some kind of principles which differ from those standard play?
The key thing against defilers is to just not stay near your base. Try keeping your army and units in the middle or as close to z as possible so that he will be 1. Stressed 2. He will be forced to use swarm in middle and near his own base and that makes it a lot easier for a terran player since then you can just back off and then he will have to do it again. Its not often you see a zerg "swarm-pushing" through an entire map if terran is awake :D
Versus Arbiters I often do 1 or 2 vessels, I often have at least 3 gases at that time and it can really help you (primarly EMP, even though the detector is very good as well).
Versus both Arbiters and Defilers, the tank position can be very important, if you use alot of tanks vs swarm (which is getting more and more usual), you will have to put them out almost like a push, so that he will have to make at least 4 swarms to cover a large area. Its the same basic against Arbiters, try not to put your tanks in one big mass, vs arbiter its a lot easier once you can push (especielly on maps where turrets can be built). Be careful of recall in your main however, build lots of turrets there and put down mines, its veeeery worth it!
Other than what I just said, its mostly standard play...

aND.Beta, Iris is a Starleaguer. Not just a one time face in Starleague, but consistently there.
When TL.Net calls his tvz weak, it means he is prone to lose it and may be 50/50 vs a Starleague quality zerg.
His TvZ is outstanding in actuality and if it's his weakest matchup, he'd still win at a much higher ratio than 55% vs any foreign player in the world, who has ever existed.

nice strats, but it seems like my scouting scv is the biggest concern for me then again im a newb

my thoughts exactly... i cringe when i hear people saying " wow his tvz sux" or for zergman " wow his zvt sux"

DaZe what are your sentiments on early arbiter abuse? As in the protosses who do some light dt cheese just so they can have the archives up early enough to pump 1 expo arbiters no later than when they have just barely a large enough army to defend themselves from an early steamroll.
I see a lot of this cheese tactic on BrainClan and I haven't had much luck vs it

If he builds really fast arbiters, like after just 1 expo, you should be just fine with just waiting just a bit longer and moving out slowly with good tankposition. Even though he will have arbiter, he wont have been able to produce as much units as if he had stuck with the usual double expansion-strat...

so do you think Daze's is better? or is there still a skill gap between a foreigners STRONG TvZ and a progamers WEAK TvZ? I think it would come down to speed alot. DaZe has pretty low apm for a T user and probably korean zergs would abuse that alot, doing lots of stuff at the same time.
Besides one TvZ I saw DaZe play he only had 6 rax and cued like 5 units in each, I dunno he plays good though but some parts of his play are a bit random.
Then again this is more the european way the T:s play. Korean terrans tend to not queue units as much and make more raxes.
DaZe is damn good though, one of the best foreign Terrans there is, and the pride of Sweden in bw terms =)

excellent guide, just a couple questions: 1. What do you do vs. gas steal TvZ and TvP? 2. How early/late do you get upgrades TvP? Do you lay down armories before/after you start to build for your min only? 3. What do you do against a zerg with drop? How much do you keep in your base to defend, and how long can you wait to move out (assuming his original drop doesn't pretty much kill you outright)?

What should you Do if you see the Protoss making Zeals and going for the rush?

DONT have your units in range of his! Just set up the same containment a few paces back and it should work the same way! Repair this early is mandatory! He cant use his tanks + sight of floating rax to pick off your tanks one by one! Defend your units wel! DONT STACK THEM THEN ALL DIE ON 1 SIEGESHOT!
Loving the enthusiasm, Daze. ^^

click on your scv, shift click all over the mini-map close to the opponent's base. This is called waypoints. you can have a maximum of 8? waypoints so that way you can go back to your base w/o constantly telling him to go everywhere.

Depending on your micro I think. If you think your micro is bad make at most 5-7 marines(scv recommended). If your factory is finished make a vulture asap. Usually after his hopeful failed rush, I usually make another factory while making a shop and constant vultures and upgrading mines for the soon to be coming goons.

Ahh ic.Well my micro isnt that bad but most of the time im caught off guard should i go for two barracks if i see it? or is that a waste of mins?
