If you fast exp regularly without academy you will need to get gas alot sooner in your expansions than otherwise. A good thing to remember is that on many maps these days (for example luna), you need 4 scvs on gas on some positions. All gases turned down are 4 scvs mandatory.
I probably get gas in expansion about the time when my third or fourth barrack is done, depending on how fast factory im going... If you want a faster factory I would do a faster gas in exp.

I dont often see koreans getting that late gas in expansions when fast expanding. Barracks and marines dont cost you that much and you will need the gas later if you grade and want massvessels (I assume you are talking about SKterran). If SKterran is the case you can get your gas a little later than usual but you will need to do it pretty early anyway if you want to make vessels and keep upgrading!

Naruto, just like Way says here. The best way for me to explain why I wouldnt go armory is probably coz I dont wanna rely 100% on my first push. The main idea when 1 fact shop 5 without is to get around 14-16 vultures and 7-8 tanks very soon. Sometimes when you move out like this you will have around 110 supply and your opponent sometimes only have about 100 (unless you play testie who is a maniac). Some tosses wont even have zealot upgrade and only goon + shuttle, And you will pwn his ass easy ;o
I do know players like TerranTeacher did a build like you said with 1-1 early but he kept massing vultures so much and honestly they are not that good unless you have more than 6 tanks later on. Thats why I just want a really good mineraleco early, so that I can take another expansion while moving out early and at the same time putting a lot of pressure on P!

ye I guess you're right... But when I wrote I wanted to give some "guidelines", which I try to follow.
Often the cases are so different it cant be said exactly what to do. What I meant was before he gets those nyduschannels up, coz then you will have a hard time vs a good player. It took me A LOT of games before killing zerg who used nydus well -_-

On a map 3 player map there are like 2 ways of scouting. Either you make a 12/12 build and wait til your 13th scv arrives, then you scout with 2 at the same time (tau cross very good to do this imo!).
Or you scout with your 10th scv, perhaps 11th.

On a 4 player map I often stick to 10/11 scv scout. Mostly coz I dont really need to know if he is protoss or terran, since openings are pretty similiar. You got pretty good chances that he will scout you early as well, being any race. But if he is z it can hurt you. Sometimes (depending on how fast I find out he is z), I cancel my gas and build another rax, or makes a 1 rax fast aca expansion then adding another 2 raxes. If you by any chance see he is zerg when your factory has started to built I would remove all scvs from gas asap. Then make like 3-4 marines (zerg will most likely make drones instead of lings coz he knows you will tech as TvR!).
When factory is done, make 1 vulture and move out with rines build CC, then perhaps another vulture or start building more raxxes (put scvs back on gas + build aca).

I stole that strat of androide, he used it on reason in wcg for example. He lost that game due to some bad scouting but his build order was pretty good imo!

edit: oh, I havent played vs a random on an island map for a long time, unless its estrella or gorky and the build orders arent that different between the 3 races... its easy to adjust :p
