OK, I just played a game where I was 3 and the opponent was on 12 LT, but this applies to anywhere with close positions. How the HELL do you stop a bunker rush where he proxies the raxes? I scouted him and I 12 pooled to try to counter, then 11 expo, but that didn't work becuase he had rines so fast on me. Any ideas or comments on what to do in this situation?

I have rep if anyone is interested.

how far was the proxy? if you scouted him that fast you probably lost a lot of pool time as well, which is important. I think 11 pool gas --> 6 speedlings nonscout is not only the perfect counter but can also rape 1 rax builds even with 2 scvs blocking.

also if don't know the basics you have to micro your drones.

Ok..Um. When you scout proxy raxes, you lay the pool down ASAP. And expoing vs proxy rax? Are you mentally challenged? The whole point of proxies + bunker rush is to KILL your expo. So just lay the pool down asap, get drones down to kill the SCV and any rines you can. GL

I didn't scout the proxy, so I don't know how far it was. I scouted the lack of barracks in his base, so I assumed it was proxy, and I found out that it was when rines arrived so early. I thought the point of playing ZvT is early expo, and being able to withstand the rush, so I expoed anyway. Won't try that again. Thanks

It's actually quite common to fast expand vs bunker rush. If you go pool first, you shouldn't stop making lings after your initial 3 pairs. Your creep will come later, so you'll need more lings to defend. You can also go hatchery first if you're confident in your drone micro.

Also, the build is 12pool/12hatch, not 12pool/11hatch. Doing 12pool/12hatch will allow you to get slightly more money and you'll still have 3 larvae when the pool finishes.

Yes...People like JulyZerg and Chojja and such can do this. Typical Battle.Net players....no. If you scout the proxy, or see the lack of raxes in the base, then you should pool ASAP. It's 10x safer, and it can help you win the game, if not win you the game from the lack of protection in the opponents base.

generally you shouldn't really try to fast expo on 12v3 and instead assume some sort of bunkrush/early rine aggression because of the ridiculously short distances (he doesn't even need to proxy to give you a hard time)

looks like your main mistake was slacking on your ling numbers, you should keep a very close eye on how much rines he has and when he is moving out

If its BBS and he brings some scv you really can only attempt to play it smart and hope he plays it stupid at those spots imo. if you pool first and somehow he lets you get up your expand hatch then he will be in bad spot.

Also as a particular thing for 12v3 temple, you might wanna experiment with 9hatch/9pool before overlord. I dunno it takes away any pressure of them doing early marine stuff to you and if you are at 3 you can sorta option it by scouting directly with your lord and by the time you are ready to hatch you should have his choke uncovered so if he sent an SCV out or built a rax really low you will see them. If you dont see them then the chance of them being at 12 is much lower.

12 pool + all drones but 3-4 to kill incoming rines/scvs building the bunker should do the trick with proper micro I think

That's why you practice it until you're good at it. It's not something like timing and experience that you develop over time, it's a skill that you can improve on. Read Day[9]'s giganic post on how to stop bunker rushes.

He did say he 12pooled and that should be enough to fend of the proxies barely in time. Actually, I think I was just annoyed that you ask someone if they're mentally retarded when they had the right idea.

Is it possible to really defend well against a BBS on 12v3?

I'm not joining in the arguments or being snide, since I don't play ZvT, but I was under the impression that that would take damned good micro from Z and/or really bad micro from the T.

You could always 9hatch if you find yourself in those positions right?

as I said, yes. And even if you pool first I dont think its guarantees a win vs BBS. Its the sort of thing that although is fairly all-in for the T, they just stand such a good % of probability to win vs almost any normal opening.

If you end up at 12 or 3 you should 9 pool. 12 vs 3 is imba position because distance is so close. Terran has so much options. Scout at 9 drone too.

Building outside your base so traveling distance is closer and its harder to scout. Like a proxy barrack is instead of making a rax in your main you make it in the middle of the map so its closer to opponent's base. And people proxy to hide something.

also 9 hatch 9 pool 9 overlord is underrated build. 12v3 bbs is possible to defend. Bbs is actually slower than 8 rax.Watch Savior vs. Yooi for example of defending proxy bbs not 12v3 on lt but still.

Now that I think about it, 12pool/12hatch may still have difficulty defending vs proxy bbs. 9pool is sure to defend it though, but the only problem is, your ovie won't reach the other spot (12 or 3) in time to decide if you should 9pool.

A lot of the time at 12 vs T I just do 9 pool, 10/9 overlord to 3 hatch with reverse overlord scout and last drone out scouts 3. If he is at 3 most likely he will scout to 6 and screw himself over by going around the map.
