thanks a lot evil. I've noticed that as terran, I am far more picky about what map I play. Like you said, a map where I can easily defend my third is the best. That's why I like Tau Cross. No ramp but it's so near my 2nd. When I play Toss, I don't really care what map.

yeah, flash is really good at taking his third. Sometimes he will take his entire army to take it and only leave a token force behind. He goes up, secures it and then leaves a few tanks behind and goes home.

@TaardadAiel
I really don't like taking my 3rd with just 2 fac. especially on FS when there is a good chance goons are waiting on that ramp. I'm still a bit too scared to just play 2 fac. my opponents really like to bull dog and run in with speedlots. Thanks for the tips about the SVs. You are right, Defense Matrix can turn the tide immensely and I need to practice clearing obs more. sniping obs is so so satisfying.

1. So when you guys defend against recalls, do you keep like 2 SVs behind to cover the sides of the map? that's a lot of resources for a recall that may or may not come.

You only need vessels at places where you cannot defend with turrets and a minefield. On FS that would only be the third base location because it is very hard to lay enough mines in the mineral line. And they are useful to defend additional bases where no other defenses are ready yet.

3rd world is fine in pvt. slight advantage to p but it's not bad

sparkle, 3rd world are both p>>z because zerg can't contest protoss air on island and semi-island maps

transistor is p>>t because it's very difficult to push across the map. the nat positioning and long ground distance makes reavers/carriers really strong

thank you!

Question from newb, I wondered why people told me PvT Reavers are only good for harassing Terran economy, but Snow was using Reavers to battle Flash's army game after game?

Are Reavers any inferior to say Psi Storm in early game PvT?

The people who told you that reavers are only good for harrassing were probably not the best players. Reavers are also excellent at stopping any kind of timing pushes. Only in lategame do they lose their usefulness in comparison to high templars.

Is iccup or SC:R ladder the best place to find opponents of equal ability? Just now getting into learning 1v1

The SC:R ladder is functional for players between like 1300 and 2000, or at least last I checked. If you are just starting out you might be worse than that and get smacked around a little at first. ;p You have to expect quite some uneven games tbh, there's a very wide skill range compared to amount of active players in brood war outside korea.

I totally expect to do a lot of losing. Not a problem for me. But lack of skill aside, is iccup still the go to for most of the ladder community?

I'm newish to the game. I need some tips for dealing with storm drops in ZvP. My whole worker line is destroyed before I know it. Its very frustrating!

Anyone have a replay or vod of a pro doing the 973 build order in ZvP? I understand how to open, but I'm wondering when to throw down 4th hatch or when to transition to lair, etc. I'm not really interested in the "Zerg busts Protoss" variant, but more in the "Protoss has to build too many cannons" variant.

Hit shift f2 to a location, if you hit f2 again it will tab you to that location super quickly. Positional hotkeys. f2, f3 and f4 are all used for this. Save one at your natural mineral line, one in your main. If something comes into drop and you spot it, grab all your workers and use your camera keys to mineral walk them to another base, hopefully escaping the damage.

on top of what Dazed said you can also leave some scourge on patrol mode on the likely drop area so you may catch the shuttle. and if there are corsairs you ll get the "your forces are under attack" warning. It might help you until your minimap awareness is better.

Yeah camera location is the most critical. Next best thing would be to sit a ling in places where shuttles usually fly by so you have more time to react.

I want to take my game to the next level. I want to know how to use scvs to kill or block lings/zeals from reaching my marines. If I use attack move, they do absolutely nothing and just sit there. It seems like I have to right click on each ling and zealot for the scvs to do their thing.

What you guys do when you are getting ling/zeal rushed and you don't have enough rines yet. You got one and there's 6 lings. Or you got one and there is 1 zealot. What I do is have my marine attack and stick like 5 scvs on the enemy. But this does not always work since the lings just filter past and kill my marine. So what's the best way? I need advice on this. I got the late game down and now I'm working backwards to fix my early early game =)

How has pvt philosophy changed over the course of 2000 to 2018? Are there any older styles/builds/insights to be gleaned from 'out dated' pvt of the past?
