I have the feeling in SC:R that when I press for example 1a2a3a4a5a a bit too fast the game doesnt keep up and I only get the 1a command (same when adding units to an existing control group?). Is this something known about bw due to the old engine that you have to click a bit slower or something with the TR or should I be worried something is not working right?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: OH, maybe this is just part of the bw engine that you have to be accurate with releasing the mouse button before making the next keyboard input otherwise it gets blocked? In that case I guess this post can be disregarded.
EDIT2: After some even deeper search I am guessing this is what I am talking about: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/brood-war/520707-mouse-clicks-freezing-blocking-keyboard-inputs . I guess nothing to whine about if it has always been this way in brood war ^^

Yeah but this one is slower (better to keep your mouse over shuttle/reaver all the time), and also if you for example click and slide the mouse away from the pic before releasing the click it won't register it.

omg yes, not sure why they'd enable the filter by default... thank you very much!

It's been a video game that children may play since 1998

Koget, if I press the unload hot key on a moving shuttle and the shuttle is not over droppable terrain, will the shuttle drop the unit as soon as it is over droppable terrain? No right? I would have to press the key again and if it is droppable terrain, the drop ship will always drop the unit instantaneously?
If I use way points when dropping, will the shuttle still follow the way point after I drop select the shuttle?

Can't you just try it by yourself?
If you have really hard problems at dropping press u and then click on the dropship, it will drop as soon as possible while steel moving.

Why peos build hatchery at 27 supply when going 5 hatch hydra

In PvP, when do you start making? zealots? or do you just skip them altogether? ive been making them only once Im out of gas in a production cycle. Thanks!

Hey, could anyone explain me briefly what are crosairs for in pvz? Everyone opens them and im told everywhere I should do it. But I just dont see any use for them. Everytime they get shutdown by scourge hard and i get to do zero damage or scouting. I think theres something major im missing. Could anyone elaborate on the crosairs or mention some games i should watch where they are put to good use? THanks

crosairs are pretty much needed for scouting, if you don't make 1 quickly it is likely that you are gambling unfavorably in most cases pvz. You can make only 1 if you want, you need to know what Z does and how he does it because you need to counter him, he has the initiative and you may lose the game if your counter is not good enough. As priority you might just go for the scouting and skip attacking overlords with your first corsair to make sure you get the info, count drones, units, buildings tech gas and hatcheries ofc expansions even larvas if you can^^ can you skip making a corsair safely? it's hard! if you get to scout with probes or zealot until well into the early game.. but Z doesnt have to let you do that. And then, corsairs are the one efficient counter to mutas, it's rly tough playing against stacked mutas without them.
pvp zealots : I think it depends a lot on the early game, but I have seen smtg for example, if you skip 2nd gas at your natural and go for zeal with speed quickly out of many gates while you have a good amount of goons and probably 1 or 2 reavers, it is a really strong timing. I think there are many possibilities there because you could also make 2nd gas early and go for archons or templars quite fast and delay zeals a bit.. you might get a bunch of zeals without speed to defend against someone making a zeal attack timing.. or you can make many reavers.. you can lose if you make a lot of goons and try to take a third if your opponent has earlier speed zealots..

THanks search bisu vs any zerg player and watch literally any one of his games. you will see what corsairs are like in the hands of the master

1st Corsair is for scout. Other Corsairs are for overlord snipping, getting mapcontrol and for example in Bonyth's timing attacks, just to kill the Z with the first dt's .

can someone explain how shield battery works in bw? it's not automatic right? I have to manually assign the shield charge to each unit? how many times can I use it? does it charge fast?
|
you just right click shield battery with a unit or units it starts with 100 energy 1 energy is worth 2 shield points recharge rate like all other energy and the units being recharged cannot move or attack while being recharged its quite good, maybe underused, situational, cheap, sometimes brings lot of value

so my units have to be right next to the shield battery? i thought it was ranged. also if I recharge a unit and then I move it right after, does the shield charge cancel? any vods of someone using the shield battery in an optimal way?

It is ranged indeed. There are 3 ways to use sb: 1. Pick sb and right-click on a unit, it will recharge it's shield points. 2. Pick a unit and right click with it on sb. 3. Pick sb, push R (for Refresh, iirc) and left click on the ground somewhere in the range of sb. Units (1 or more) will recharge shieds together at the same time. Not sure about the radius, though. The units will have to come closer to where you clicked R, iirc.
If you move it, will the recharge get cancelled. I think, yes, but to be 100% sure you need to test it.

I have a pvp dilemma. A specific scenario that happens often and I lose my lead and die.
In pvp, I always go for fast shuttle into reaver by getting goon range late. So I always keep my goons on top of my ramp and defend. This works really well since it allows me to get the reaver faster than my opponent. I have lower goon count but using the reaver I can equal the odds. However, my dilemma is when I move down the ramps and the opponent has a line of goons waiting for me. I found out in a painful way that attack moving down a ramp makes the goons retarded. Literally retarded. They get lost inside my base and go down one by one.
My question is, how do I break this situation? How do I use my early reaver to break this and how do I micro my goons so they don't go ballistic? Do I just stay on top of my ramp and reaver harass? But I really want to know how to micro the goons and the reaver so I can break the goon line at the bottom of my ramp. I want to punish it and not be holed up in my base. Am I supposed to target the enemy goons manually and kill them one by one?
I even tried attack moving the reaver down the ramp but it just leaves it vulnerable to snipes since I can only fit a reaver on the ramp.
Maps in question are outsider, FS, and circuit breaker. Would love to hear your advice. Thanks folks.
