BW Zerg Creep - any benefits?

Hi,
I've been playing Zerg in Brood war for some time now, but I watch SC2 matches as well, and of course in SC2 creep is very important for zerg in that.
But it crossed my mind though- does creep help the zerg in BW? Like increasing speed of movement, regeneration, etc., apart from providing building ground.
I have tried searching for this topic but nothing came up, so I decided to ask here.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

No, nothing but building ground in BW.

Besides building ground and ground on which the opponent cannot build, no.

No, because brood war is awesome and your units don't suck off creep :D

I'm not sure if this is in bw or vanilla or a figment of my imagination but for some reason I think zerg units regenerate health a little bit faster on creep. No very useful, in fact I've never taken the time to check if this is true or not but a little voice in the back of my head says its so

Very minimal, If you have creep everywhere, then terran can't build missile turrets to aid their mech push. But there is no situation where spreading creep is cost effective (unless you are doing proxy stuff.)

I just tested it, and this is not the case. Units regen health at the same speed whether they are on or off creep.

There really isn't any use for creep besides placing buildings. I guess you could proxy hatcheries to deny the building space for other races, but that seems like a bad idea. In any case, there isn't really any way to effectively spread creep, so the point is kinda moot.

How accurately did you test this? Cause I'm pretty sure what Jokes wrote is true.

It's 100% not true. It was only true for WC3.

You are thinking of Undead in WC3. They regen faster when on their creep.

I used the map editor and placed a starting point and hatchery for a human player. I then put one zergling on creep, and another off creep. I set both zerglings to 1% health and started the map. After a minute or two, the zerglings had regenerated the same amount of health.

It's neccicary for building crap, just as it is in sc2. Of course its so hard to get the creep neccicary for a proxy nydius that it ends up being way effective in BW mainley for the suprise factor.
Why would I play sctoo when I can play BW?

ZvT you could put a 2nd hatch in your main to spread as much creep as possible, then make the opponent guess where to scan to see your tech buildings :o

but that's about it

i to was thinking this.....in wc3, creep increases undeads regen...then in sc2 creep increases alot more shit....so maybe sc:bw just had no benefits at all then as new games released they gave it something to benefit from other than placing buildings O.o

The WC3 creep is actually blight :/

And no creep doesn't do anything else other than allowing buildings in bw.

Something people are kinda forgetting is you can place sunkens and nydus canals on enemy creep. Not really a bonus, but fun to do.

That actually happened in a pretty recent pro game once. The nydus canals, I mean. I've also seen offensive sunken attacks in recent pro games.
