I am not positive, but I believe the null tile in Luna was a way of protecting the map, since it crashed Staredit.

Good read, though I wish you could've gone over all pro maps in detail

Some of those old maps do have really nice concepts, but the poor execution hurts them so much. Most of them could be remade now though to "perfect" them, but since so few people'd play them it wouldn't really be worth the time.

Also, about your map Gotterdammerung, I considered remaking it as a possible TSL2 map; myself and Plexa both really like it. While that's still not entirely out of the question, I dunno if it'll happen lol.

By the way, I nominate this for a Final Edit.

You're wrong at begening on many things, and mixing alot periods and players and facts.

Gundam as a pro gamer, came far later than the first maps you talk about. He was from elky's time, while snowbound and ashrigo were maps that werent used that much anymore when i was pro gamer myself, wich was roughly more than a year before elky and gundam.

Also game wasn't "so new". BW was out since a long while and reaver drop is about the oldest thing you can dig up in starcraft strategy / bo wise.

Reaver drop goes as far back as vanilla pgl.

Article is great --

Just some facts wrong.

TLPD begs to differ about Gundam

http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/leagues/116_Progamer_Korea_Open

Also, wasn't everyone freaking out about how Zileas (I think) used Reavers so "effectively" in his Reaver drops? Though I suppose it wasn't being invented, but more popularized?

Awesome read. I really enjoyed it.

The only thing I'm a little upset that you seem to have left out is the evolution concerning the amount of minerals in your main base. I believe Luna was one of the first maps to have 9 mineral patches in your main instead of 8. On several later maps the main would contain 10 mineral patches, and even at times 2 gas geysers. It seems that people have admitted that this was becoming overkill, and today 9 mineral patches is largely considered the perfect standard

Once again, excellent read. Am I the only person who's pumped about Destination?

This was really cool! You could pretty much see the way the play style has evolved though the maps. Thanks!

Ah, this is true. It used to be 8 min/geyser standard, but it's since changed. Also amount of resources at expansions have changed as well. Good point.

I'll get around to adding this.

Absolutely epic .

I'm a lot newer to the scene than most of the rest of us here, so I've always wondered about the evolution of the maps. I'm always excited when new PL and MSL/OSL maps come out (or when they bring back old ones like Requiem ).
