I usually play LAN with a group of friends. I'm a noob myself (couldn't get past D+ on ICCup last season) and my friends are even "noober". However, I'm tired of them ALWAYS picking BGH.

The maps that came with BW originally are either too big or imbalanced. Are there any 128x128 maps out there suitable for 6-8 players melee, FFA, etc?

There are some 6 player versions of LT you can try. They are pretty good IMO. Also, The Hunters (get the Game-i version I guess) is very good for 6+ players. Winter Conquest isn't terrible (it's a Broodwar Ladder map, so it already comes with SC:BW). Also, another Blizzard map that's okay for 6+ players is called "Homeworld" iirc.

Aside from that I have no recommendations atm, but in the worst case scenario you could always make your own map.

Home world is 192x192. The wall surounding the main is a nice spot for tanks. You could make a 6+ version of any map but it would take up more room then 128x128

The Huntress (cant recall if its 6 or 8), (8)The Hunters, (6)Purple Rain(?), (8)Theatre of War, (8)Wheel Of War, (6)Chain Lightning, (6)Hidden Shrine, (8)Octopuss, (6)Winter Conquest, (8)Meatgrinder (art map of the week 96x96),(4)Mausoleum.

All are blizzard maps except the first 3 (use hunters fixed version)

Lost Hunters is pretty interesting as well

map layout is the same as hunters, but it has elevated mains like LT

Something like LosingID8 mentions is pretty much what I'm looking for. Space for 8 players but not as plain as Hunters.

Will take a look at the maps recommended by CharlieMurphy. I remember playing some of them. There are also some interesting ones at

6 Player lost temple is good but I think you should play on hunter gamei, not just hunter because gamei has gas for all expos.

I had the same problem last yeat and made a small map pack with 21 maps in it (4 6-player, 1 7-player and the rest is 8-player). You can download it here if you want (2.3 MB).
It contains some of the maps listed here (Huntress, Hunters, Octopuss, Theatre of War...) but not the most recent ones.

Most blizz maps are good for ffa, since they don't allow dumb turtlers which work vs newb ffaers. Because they tend to all in other players except the turtlers. -_-

Crashsites is a crazy map. Dark continents is good too.

I heard DMZ is the equivlent to legendary gamers like MuMyunG and Child, if this is so, these maps are too hard and great to be played on.
