I've hosted a discord trivia bot. Right now there are roughly only 60 questions so submissions are needed for all categories: - StarLeagues & Tournaments - Map Trivia - Game Mechanics - StarCraft Lore - Build Orders & Strategy
Bot form + link are here
command is !gg play with 10 questions per game.
Shout out to oxtQ for sparking the idea. cheers

Great, I will. I have a few ideas.

Oh man, trivia channels were HOT back in the day, but they had different modes and such - general trivia, SC trivia, sports, etc. Hope this expands
For easy BW questions, add mineral and gas cost questions for units, particularly underused ones. What is the gas cost of five Queens? What is the mineral cost of a Scout? How many minerals is an Infested Terran? Etc.
Further stuff could be upgraded costs - how much for the Dark Archon energy upgrade? Etc. That is several dozen new questions right there.
How about asking for obscure BW knowledge, in the spirit of trivia? "A progamer named himself after this obscure map with tiny ramps." (815) "Light lost to Tempest who used this piece of the Protoss arsenal to hold off a BBS" (shield battery vs. Cannon vs. DT vs. Storm) etc.

This is awesome man. Good job DB!
Possible to create true and false questions? What about providing manual answers to the bot if you don't want the correct answer to be visible (as it is in multiple or true/false format)? Would the bot be able to recognize the correct answer if it's typed out? That would make the game a bit more tricky and fun in my opinion, and be similar to the show jeopardy where the first person to (buzz in and) guess the right answer wins. Could also consider in the future making it so points are deducted for wrong answers (whether they are in multiple choice, true/false or manual answer format). Unless that's already done. That would make it risky to answer, especially if more than one person is playing trivia in a discord.
I think it would also be super interesting and informative for some questions to be more intricate by describing an in-game scenario (e.g., opponent has done a certain build) and asking for the correct response (e.g., what is the correct counter move). That sort of thing. I bet a lot of sample questions and answers could be found in the CPL discord where players routinely discuss and ask about various builds and strategies and what the (in)correct or (un)desirable counter responses to them are.

The only qualm I have about this last bit is that it has been consistently proven that counters are not as hard as we think they are. Jedong going 12h holding a 6 pool or 9 pool IIRC? You run the risk of dispensing false information. To noobs who don't know any better.
TLDR Against "X Counters Y" questions.

But I'm sure there are some or plenty of scenarios one could come up which have a single correct answer. People in CPL discord and in players' streams ask questions all the time about what the proper response should be to many situations and the answers provided by different coaches and players are the same in some cases.
I think the goal would be to either avoid scenarios that are much more nuanced and involve different answers, OR configure the bot so that it accepts more than one answer. Of course I'm not sure if that's even possible to do since the bot is probably better at registering one word answers and the answers to such scenarios would probably require more than one word.

Have been enjoying it, really fun. I think there should be a setting to increase the time limit. From 15 secs to maybe up to a minute?
I've submitted 7 questions too.

There's an answer explanation field that could provide caveats.

There are different modes I haven't experimented muchwith, type !gg help to see hangman and advanced modes, one of which you type out I believe, worth a shot.
Possible to create true and false questions? True false is possible you just have to put N/A as 3rd and 4th answers, the bot enforces 4 answers as it stands right now.
Could also consider in the future making it so points are deducted for wrong answers (whether they are in multiple choice, true/false or manual answer format). Unless that's already done. That would make it risky to answer, especially if more than one person is playing trivia in a discord. There is a bonus multiplier for correct answers depending on how many got it wrong.

That's what the build order & strategy category is there for and yes is would be good for CPL. You can limit the category like so: "!!gg play Build Orders & Strategy"

It's not customizable as it stands other than a global setting. I've bumped it to 20s.

Great work, always nice to have some quiz with others! I think that in the future it would be nice if discord servers could have some way to have and manage their own separate categories when inviting bot. For example BSL and STPL could have only questions about those tournaments respectively.
