From many of your WC > SC statements, it seems you're a fan of games that play the game for you. ie.. units micro-ing themselves for you, basically easy-mode games.

I didn't read the whole post because it was way too long. But the parts that I did read, he seems to be saying SC is a better game than WC because of the fact that in SC, most of the actions are not automatic like in WC.

After playing this game for so long, I for one seem to have taken this for granted. It is so true how perfect this game really is. Thanks for this write up, it was a lot of fun to read.

It seemed to me that he kept going back and forth. But whatever D:

can't say that i agree with all of those statements but i sure as hell can say that a whole bunch of them are SO true... on another note, i haven't really been following WCG and i was just wondering if red alert ever made it as one of the games in WCG...??
Red Alert was at least better than those Age of empire games. If Red alert had one good thing going for it vs Starcraft, I'd have to say Tanya>Kerrigan.
hahaha thanks for sharing! as crappy a multi player experience the cnc games are, few games come close to it in creating a single player experience. i loved the immersive cinematics, they really made me feel like i was a general, part of a game universe. (then again, i was about 8 or so, so i'd believe anything)
Heh, agreed. heros are too powerful in war3, why make units?
NE dude: "The thousand archers of the elven empire descend upon you, our arrows will blot out the sun." UD dude: *coil* *nova* *impale* NE dude: "gg"
To be fair, I think war3 has a lot of potential to be entertaining. There are still many aspects of the game that people haven't explored yet. It doesn't really matter anymore though. Blizzard pretty much sealed the deal on war3's fate as an e-sport when they announced SC2. Poor war3 - dark ritualed by its own Lich, so to speak.
Just got linked to this post from GameReplays.org. I think you forgot one.
In WarCraft, the community arguing how great the game is are playing Dota. In Starcraft, the community arguing how great the game is are analyzing replays and discussing live television matches of the best StarCraft players. In Red Alert, the community arguing how great the game is have all disappeared and are attempting to ruin the next RTS with their inexperienced opinions.
Aaah a long nice read. Nodded alot of times to how true it was. I guess a bunch of them can be argued but still. And since I've played all of the games I got a tuch of nostalgia too. Was a loong time since I last tuched a game in the C&C series. Lots of fun and memories with all of them. Most fun and friends from starcraft.

For starters, it has ridiculously imbalanced units.
A prism tank can destroy a building in 3-4 shots from a screen away, what the fuck.
Yeah but some games you don't play for balance. It's fun just blowing things up! Kind of like those silly UMS that you know would suck if they were played competitively.
I just remember plain RA at my friend's house. Mass MIGs was amazing. I also had a thing for tesla coils.

Quoted for fucking truth.
I admit, Starcraft is, holistically, a completely different league than RA (1, 2, and 3). But goddamit, sometimes you just have to embrace the awesomeness that is RA. Like people melting into green humanoids. And dogs and cows melting into green humanoids. And massive explosions that made the whole game lag <3
