first shift tab = mini map colors for allies and enemies (yellow and red, respectively), but in game all the colors are normal.
second shift tab = all mini map colors from the first shift tab, also player color to teal, enemy color to red, allies to yellow (in game)
third shift tab = return to normal

you can keep the shift+tab thing in ofc! I dont use it personally, would like to be able to pick color^^
black and orange unlockable based on wins somewhere? -_- such as 1000 and 2000 ranked wins with any race or smtg^^ or maybe you can only use it with that race if you have 1000 wins with that race or smtg idk lol, even in non ranked play you can use it ;D lol I think it would be neat

how does it work on a 3v3 screen though, you can only pick the colors not already picked? that should work, I think thats how it is in warcraft 3 isn't it? well in warcraft 3 you cannot pick color on matchmaking iirc, but in custom games yes
on 1v1 matchmaking, you'd need to be able to pick a secondary, or randomize if both have same color @_@ just can pick a secondary, easy
a little harder with 2v2 matchmaking, unless for example a pregame lobby was shown, or just randomize if cant work the primary+secondary of all players or whatever @_@

Probably the only RTS I know where colors are present but you can't pick a color.

Not a big deal, but would be nice to have it. I'm surprised this question never came up at blizzard when planning on what features to add to remastered.

Even if it was brought up, it must be really low on their totem pole of priorities

well they did say they would be listening to what the players want in remastered after they are done with the launch features

Yeah, they did. Even though this probably is a simple feature to add, they just have more necessary things to add/fix. Server issues, establishing global turn rate, and ladder point bugs have to be among the things that take precedence.

Since they said that they will reset the ladder and add a new map pool when they are finished with the major bugs (essentially making a new season), I think seeing this come to fruition will be a good indicator of when we can expect them to possibly make these QOL changes.
