I've seen some of the thread talking about mouse, and I noticed some of the people are playing with fast mouse speed(high DPI or high mouse sensitivity) due to their FPS games or other types of games.
I would recommend people not to have crazy mouse speed for StarCraft: Brood War because you will lose a lot of precise micro.
DPI might not be the problem because you can always lower the sensitivity on Mouse setting so don't worry about buying a new mouse.
Here's what I use.
You will need to re-start your computer to apply this registry.
Scan-Mouse
My mouse is at 1000 DPI.
I started using this method because some of PC Cafe(in Korea) has weird mouse sensitivity to play so I carry around my own mouse registry file(in my email account).
If you would like to share your mouse speed, here's what you do.
Open "regedit.exe"
Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse
Right click the folder "Mouse" and then click "Export."

Actually, I do the same thing for fps games, I think it's way better to have a lower sensitivity than a higher one.

My mouse has a (non-desired) difference in sensitivity between brood war (more sensitive) and my desktop, it's really annoying. But I calculated a 750 DPI for my mouse on my desktop. I also use the 4/10 sensitivity setting.

anyone that plays FPS with a high sens is doing it wrong. you still want low sens for FPS, even lower than you have for starcraft.

It's usually in reverse, fps for very low dpi and any other for higher dpi. You need more precise in fps because you need accuracy. Some pro even use like 400 dpi and this is why they lift their mouse so frequently.
In rts, higher dpi is tolerable because you won't need that much precision and your pointer will jump from one point to another so having too low dpi is bad.
Messing with 6/11 mouse sensitivity is (usually) frowned upon in gaming, because it's gonna cost you the 1:1 between your mouse and the pointer movement. Same as clicking precise pointer move in the setting (or whatever it is called just under the sensitivity setting)
.... At least that's the theory. In the end, just use whatever you find comfortable and works.
I use 3600 dpi for moba and everyday use, 1800 for fps/rts because I'm too lazy to move my mouse around.

What does that registry do, something else besides lowering speed from 6/11 to 4/11?
I use 400 DPI Microsoft Basic Optical 1.0a with 6/11 windows mouse speed.
If mouse's DPI is 800/1000 I apply 4/11 which means you will get 400 or 500.
And if mouse got software (f.e. Razer Synapse) where you can adjust dpi I check 400 (put 6/11).
IMPORTANT: Make sure Enchance pointer precision (Mouse acceleration) is unchecked or your speed will be changing everytime so your movements are fucked.

Don't you got famous KTEC progamer mouse for BW where you can switch and lower dpi to 400? I wish I had that one (and of course LMO). Thinking about switching to Logitech G100s, IIRC it got software where you can lower DPI and also it's shape (unfortunately not size) is closer to LMO.
