As the system changes, players who participates in Proleague will increase in their rankings. Oppose to this, players who have participated but few times, and who have not participated at all are bound to fall.
There were severe changes in the rankings due to the new system in Jan. 2006. Byun Hyun Te, aka. Iris, rose up 14 ranks, Park JiHo, aka. Pusan, 10 ranks, Park Jun Suk, aka. Reach, 6 ranks. However, Lee JeHoon(ForU), Lee ByungMin(GoodFriends), Park TeMin(GoRush) were pushed down 10 to 18 ranks.

The new rankings seem a bit more accurate to me, I think.

IMO proleague individual matches can't compare to starleague matches. With Starleague, you lose, you're out. With Proleague, you lose... well u have partners to win it. Also there are times you have no idea who your opponent is. Nor their race!

WoW ! Reach ftw ! I love this new system ^^ Also the differece in points is smaller now , so hopefully there would B more changes from month 2 month.
btw 2x2 games R also counted right? And Y R there only 20 positions ???

4 months is way too short. A starleague lasts around 4 months. It's not indicative enough of player skill levels. Any players can beat each other on any day depending on various luck factors. A measurement over an extended period of time will more appropriately measure level of performance. Perhaps 12 months is too long, but at least 6 months is a must.

The new rating system is unfair in a way that if a player doesn't get chosen to participate in Proleague, his ratings fall. Well, being chosen to participate in proleague is dependant on each team's manager.
Nal_rA for example, mostly doesn't get chosen to play for KTF until the 5th deciding game. Therefore unless any KTF team games go to the 5th deciding game, it'll be recorded as Nal_rA didn't participate, therefore negatively affecting his rankings. This applies to many other players.
Then there are players such as Anytime, who participates a lot in Proleague. But his performance in Proleague is not good. However since he participates a lot, he gets a huge boost in points.
Nal_rA's performance in proleague is miles ahead of Anytime, but since rA mostly only plays in 5th games, he missed out on many series. In the end, both attained about the same number of points for their proleague performance, which is totally unfair.
I'm just using this specific case as an example. There are so many other players that this will apply to. I think this new rating system has a lot of rooms for improvement.

I like the new one better:D

yes, reach # 2 with the new system, hero toss fighting
|
how the hell did reach get number 2 in rankings, that i dont understand. this new system is kinda dumb.
|
Consistency? -___-;; I dunno... There are a lot more points and the gaps are smaller tho.. which I like I guess.. MORE EXCITING WOO GO CRAK
|
With proleague results factored in, would a win over say... Oov be worth the same number of points over a win over Rainbow?

I guess the logic behind it is that the 5th match players are the team aces, and thus its expected they do exceptionally well in the single leagues as well.
July has got it easy, being team ace as well as a 2v2 player, as well as an incredible single-league zerg

ok... i know u guys arse saying the previous kespa rankings were not indicative of player skills (or perhaps didnt reflect the most current standings)... but like pete sampras, monika seles (however u spell her name), using tennis as an example, kept their world no.1 rankings for AGES after they stopped playing. I mean... if someone shows skill, it doesn't matter if they retire, their name should still be on the board to remember their greatness. Besides, most of these "rookie hot shots" will play a bunch of games, win some tournaments, their luck will run out (or the same strategies they use over and over again will get old) and then it'll be up to people like yellow, chojja, boxer etc. to re-invent starcraft play so MORE (new) rookies can copy them and come in and own..... is it just me who feels this way or what? I really really don't like these newcomers to the ranks like anytime etc. I'd much rather have Ra, Reach, JulyZerg, GoRush (especially), Boxer, Yellow (especially) up there. They have battled FOR YEARS to not just keep starcraft alive but to keep inventing new gameplay.
