That said, i haven't been frequenting the forums much.. Been just idly waiting for Brood War to come around the corner, reading any Bisu-related news, and that's about it. I do not know much about all this fiasco, but i hope that my Brood War Proleague comes back safely in one piece.

My only objection would be decrease in quality of play for BW matches bc the players practice for SC2, but it'll eventually even out, with some players playing BW exclusively and others SC2.

It's less hate and more "I don't care." Much like Street Fighter or Quake or Sudden Attack. :/ If KeSPA mixed Broodwar and Sudden Attack, I wouldn't watch Sudden Attack. I have no interest in it. Same for SC2.

Oh come on. Stop being so naive. This game requires a ridiculous amount of practice constantly from everyone at all times. The S class players are S class because they spend 10+ hours a day on this game, every day. Look at the players in ACE. It's not like they do poorly because they're bad; it's because it's the army and they don't have time to practice as much everyone else. Read Jangbi's winner's interview: he gave such fantastic games in this last OSL because he and his entire team worked non-stop all day and sometimes all night preparing for this ONE event. Like that could have happened if they had to worry about an entirely different game as well.
Diverting your players to another game will just make them suck at both, and forming a division among the teams will cut the players in half. Either way, it'll just reduce our viewing pleasure. The only way it wouldn't is if nobody is switching; the teams are merely recruiting new players for their SC2 divisions. If that's what's happening, then great. Good for SC2.

Let me put it this way: How would you feel about it if all major SC2 teamleagues would include LoL/DOTA 2/CoH in it? Keep in mind that we lose BW games in the ONLY major league that's still around, the BW competition is devalued due to the format and the players have less incentive to practice BW if their scene is destabilized like this. It might turn out fine, but I bet plenty of people would be pissed if the GSTL final was 25% LOL. (And I play LoL fairly often, mind you.)
At least, if the rumors are true. God I hope they aren't.

Is it that hard to understand ? According to http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=280168, some teams play the game not because they like it, but because someone (KeSPA ? sponsor ?) may decide that everyone switches, and they don't want the gap to be to big if that happens.
Team A said they begun practicing SC2 3 weeks ago: "It's a situation where we can't not prepare for SC2 so we are continuously practicing."
"In our team's case we haven't started practicing SC2 yet. If the proleague opens and we need to play SC2, the gap between the teams who had already begun practicing will inevitably become larger".

there's a difference between "in proleague" and actually being part of the same schedule, like 2 rounds bw 1 round sc2.
If bw is completely the same, but they add sc2 to the schedule in some form (which with 2 fewer bw teams, and if they made sc:bw be 4 days a week, you could have an sc2 proleague in there somewhere), that doesn't really change bw. BW doesn't have to change at all, except to like a 4 day broadcast week and sc2 could be on 1.5 days.
so don't go around saying people aren't real fans of bw; bw players don't necessarily have to switch over at all. that's an assumption you're making.
I suspect if anyone really switched it would be the lower tier players you probably never heard of and are not likely to go very far in BW at the current time. It would allow the top tier to keep competing and being profitable in BW, while the guys that are more or less practice partners have a renewed chance to make a name and some money.

I love both games for different reasons. BW, I love it because it's difficult. I never got past D, that's how difficult to me. I love SC2 because it simplifies brood war. It makes use of things that no doubt WOULD have been in BW if they had the technology. No more retarded siege tank AI. No more 12 unit groups. No more wasted actions.
Maybe the BW people will never see SC2 as a replacement for something they loved, but maybe they won't have to. CS 1.6 is still alive and kicking.
