Yes, but I think many of us BW guys get really touchy about the subject. Either it stems from fear of players leaving for SC2 or of sc2 fans constantly saying player X should switch over and what have you. I don't really see it as justified but it is what it is.

Even if they do play SC2, I really do not anticipate much skill difference at all. In fact if Blizzard invite any of current good SC2 pros as opponent, I will expect an roflstomp. SC1 and SC2 are fundamentally different RTS and I never understood why people think pro's skill will have perfect conversion rate; especially when one of their greatest weapons - mechanics - have less significance. Yes, there are tactical experience (which I guess is more important because from MLG I gander single engagement can be the game-decider) but those come over time.

Also I knew BW trolls were going to flame SC2 and take away our already rather debatable "moral superiority", heh.

Certainly. It would be interesting indeed to see what truly top notch mechanics can do with a game like SC2. Of course, if they haven't played enough SC2 to have some familiarity and skill at the game it might be uninteresting. Basically, if they have played some and have a good idea how the game is played this would be pretty awesome, if not, not so much.

Its a new age and current esports needs them to transfer over.

Not convinced here. SC2 doesn't really need this, and it would be a pretty brutal blow to BW if several of the absolute top switched over.

Pretty disappointed in alot of you BW guys though. The amount of BW > sc2 eliteism/snobbery in this thread is depressing. Normally I think BW group does a pretty solid job of quality posting, but when it comes to the mention of sc2, that seems to fall be the wayside.

I don't think there's a collective BW hive mind that tells BW elitists to go do things, but a lot of the responses were basically because people were speculating for no reason. I also don't think the elitism is overwhelming in the slightest.

There's nothing wrong with people saying they don't want to see Bisu/Jaedong/etc playing SC2. In fact, there's good reason to not want to watch it.

True elitism/snobbery would be if everyone in this thread said "Yeah, BW players gonna go roflstomp all of you SC2 noobies because BW is real game and you guys play fake".

I don't think anyone has made that comment yet, so it's pretty good, considering that the reaction could've been much worse.

How have people been flaming SC2? There are just people who don't want SC2 showmatches, and instead want BW.

There also might not be perfect conversion, but there's a reason why the Koreans, even though they were second rate mediocre players in competitive BW, are at the top of the game. And it's not just because their practice routines are a lot better than foreign routines.

Based on YellOw and especially ForGG, BW players aren't very good at SC2 at first, but after practicing a while, can get scary. You have to learn the game first, but ForGG is blowing a lot of people out of the water even in his first week in SC2 (I'll PM you a VOD of ForGG's micro outclassing a low-tier SC2 player later, if you're interested. I'm getting dangerously close to derailing as it is).

Having even a Flash or Jaedong play SC2 wouldn't be any good until they got comfortable with it, which they will not do because they'd be completely insane to switch right now and talking about that is silly.

Anyway, like I said. Probably a BW showmatch. Maybe a HotS showmatch for novelty. What's important isn't what they do, it's that Blizz is extending an olive branch to BW, and that's awesome.

Well if the TL community was organizing Blizzcon, then of course they'd be playing BW.

I can see an argument for hyping sc2 by having bw pros play it, I dont know how I personally feel about it though.

If it IS sc2, then I'm not sure if it would be 1v1 or some fun team game or something. It would be ridiculous/embarrassing/so so so awkward to have a BW legend play an sc2 pro and get stomped.

What's up with all the SC2 hate in this section. We're all fans of the same company, the same genre, so what if some of you got hooked 10 years ago?

IF these guys end up playing Starcraft 2, do you honestly think they were forced into it? Hopefully they'll be able to watch the GSL finals live, enjoy the foreign fans and all the commotion around sc2, and most of all - enjoy a free vacation at Blizzcon.

Now realistically though, BW is still important to merely a small group of people, will they have BW showmatches on stage at Blizzcon? Wouldn't the average visitor be like "eeeeh, I thought you guys released a sequel last year, what's up with these 1998 graphics?"
It only seems logical to have them do something SC2-related, but does it have to be competitive?
What if these four BW pros were the four first persons outside Blizzard to be allowed to try out the new Heart of the swarm multiplayer? Or play the Hots campaign, whatever.

It is known that ForGG actually plays sc2 since season 1, he started heavy training and jkoined a team few weeks ago. But he has been training for more time than few weeks and been playing the game since release.

Mechanics might not, but multi-tasking has huge significance. There is a skill ceiling on macro in SC2, but not micro while multi-tasking. Bisu's ability in that regard, for example, is unparalleled. Some guys like Best might not be as successful in SC2 purely due to playstyle, but guys like Bisu would excel, even without the requisite strategic insight, purely from the fact that he's essentially an "MMA on crack."

Bah, got sucked into this debate again. Oh well. -_-

That's kinda cool. Except for the whole I'm out of state thing -_-b.

It does feel kind of weird that Jangbi and Fantasy are going, while Flash and Stork are not. Well, I can understand Flash declining to go, but... Stork!

If your point is that Taek-Bang-Lee-Ssang couldn't win a GSL as soon as they picked up the game, then it's pretty noncontroversial. Even Michael Jordan didn't get to MLB on his first shot.

Obviously any top SC2 pro would beat them in SC2 right now. Once top BW pros actually switch over and play it properly, then things will change.

Yeah, I know. That's my point. Good BW players do really well in SC2, after practicing for a while. (ForGG). BW pros with less practice get rolled (YellOw). Good decision making can cover for bad mechanics a lot more in SC2, so BW pros who switch have to really know the game before their superior mechanics start to pay off (and ForGG does have superior mechanics. Killing 16 marines with 2 red-flame hellions is pretty sick, and better than what most SC2 pros can do)

Not that any of it matters, because they're playing either BW, and/or HotS against each other for fun.
