When i go to where all my maps are actually saved in to in my maps folder they are all there. however when i go on starcraft and try to host a game my map folder is empty and i am unable to host for that reason? please help!

maybe u have 2 drives with 2 sc folderS?
maybe all your map files got renamed and lost their extensions? o_O

My maps are in: C:\Program Files\Starcraft\maps\download
When im in starcraft the directory its looking for maps in is Broodwar:

it could be your os. try running sc as an admin.

Er, try just \maps\, \maps\download is only for maps that get automatically added by ingame downloading.

Are you trying to view replays in Single Player?

If so, you can only watch replays saved in Starcraft\maps\replays folder.
Only in Multiplayer you can navigate to any folder inside Starcraft\maps folder such as Starcraft\maps\download.

So when you go to Single Player, choose Play Custom, there is no Up One Level folder?

The iccup launcher filters maps, and you can only open the iccup map pack folder in game if launcher is on. - someone from chat.

i torrented sc and its been like that since i downloaded it.

yeah i guess ill try that. i was trying to look for a soloution before jumping to reinstalling but i guess reinstalling is better than not hosting. thanks guys

Did you maybe watch some replay in a folder which you manually deleted afterwards while being on bnet?

Then you couldn't be able to choose any map anymore and there wouldn't be a Up One Level option. The solution is either to recreate that folder (it can be empty), as then an Up One Level option would appear, or just relog to bnet as this problem only lasts for one session.

If it's empty, try putting some maps in and see if they show up? You can download all ICCup maps and some good ums'.
