Hey guys,
Recently got a new computer outfitted with windows 7. I installed SCBW and updated. It seems the game is experiencing horrible latency lag (1.5-2 second delay for every action).
I tried searching the forums couldn't really find anything in direct relation to latency lag caused by windows 7.
Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

Most people who play BW with W7 usually have crashing issues, not lag issues. Are you sure it's not a problem with your connection? Update drivers maybe?
|
I've tried updating drivers yes, but it hasn't seemed to crash once. I just get a 2 second delay and its annoying as hell
|
Yeah, i can't say that's Windows 7. Try looking if you are automatically downloading updates from either the OS or an antivirus.
Other than that, you should be fine.

It seems that as the game progresses the lag gets worse and worse... Anyone?

Question: I'm experience the crashing issues sporadically. What's the way to fix the crashes?
|
Just found that it works fine on iccup, but cant play on USEast with my friends - the lag is unbearable.

One of the easiest solutions to fixing most BW problems with W7 is running it in "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" Compatibility Mode and setting the privilege level to permanently run as administrator. See link below.

Also, if you are having the visual problems with colors not working, you can fix this by checking "Run in 256 colors" and "Run in 640x480 screen resolution" in conjunction with the above mentioned fixes.

Hey guys, here's what I've found works for fixes on my Windows7 laptop:
Crashes - If they occur leaving games or when your game would be saving files to your hard drive (replays, save files) then you need to run the game as admin. This is the only time I've noticed crashes outside of the unavoidable hardware issues that come and go.
Visual issues - The change to compatibility mode did not do anything for me, but I noticed that when I alt tab from the game, close down anything extra running on my task bar and select an icon on the top-left of my desktop before alt-tabbing back to Starcraft my visual problems are gone or at the very least bearable. I have a friend that tried this and had zero luck but it has worked for me so it might be worth a shot.
Your latency is most likely caused by poor port forwarding. Ensure ports 6112-6119 both TCP/UDP are open to your computer. Since iCCup works for you I assume this is your problem as the connection between the blizzard servers and you are probably having issues. I never thought that was an issue until recently when I found out that even with ports forwarded I couldn't host games on USWest. I changed to USEast (without any hardware/software configuration changes) and haven't had a problem since. Also, like you, iCCup works fine for me.

I tried all suggestions including port fordwarding and still can't get this problem to go away. Not really sure what to do now.

I keep Windows XP just because I experience slight delays when clicking in BW on Windows 7...
|
Get ChaosLauncher and run it in Window-mode. It's kind of clunky, but it will fix any graphical issues. Also disabling all cores in the BIOS except for one apparently fixes the crashing issue.

i did what the above poster said and it worked perfectly. If you have problems with this i recommend you search about TL, theres this thread where someone made a execution command thing that supposedly taskkilled your explorer and made the game colors perfect, then when you are finished you can just quit the game and press enter and voila, your back at your desktop. EDIT: oh nvm, found it. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=101869

Nothing in this thread has fixed the latency issue. sigh.

If it works fine on iccup, what's the problem? Tell your friends to make an account

I normally notice lags and such but i also got a new mouse and stuff when I switched over to win 7 so i may not have noticed it.
Silence you dont have cpu throttling enabled under windows 7?
|
I had lag issues when I port forwarded 6112-6119 with TCP AND UDP. It worked perfectly after I changed it to just TCP, so give that a shot.

I dont have any issues with Win7 and BW i must be lucky :D

I have a few issues as well, before I had vista no color problems no hosting problem / having more than 1 person in game. No problems at all, then I got windows 7 and I got color problem, before I wasn't able to have more than 1 person in game with me but I fixed that but still I have hosting problems. Sucks not being able to host =\

I have windows 7 x64. I had a weird colour issue (alt tab didn't work) as well as a problem connecting to battlenet. after a crapload of searching, I tried going to task manager > the processes tab > disabling explorer.exe > going file > new task (run) and running the exe from the directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft\StarCraft.exe). Fixed both problems, hooray! maybe this will help you too.
