I was wondering if someone translated how this year's playoffs work since when I looked at the calendar (July one) it seems to be a Bo3matches.

Are the matches going to be played in Bo5s? And judging by how close all the matches are players wont have much preparation time in between. =/

I think back at the start of 09-10 season the listed changes said that instead of the old "super-ace" format, there was just going to be a third match. So I think it's a Bo3 of Bo7s. The finals are a single Bo7 though for hype/suspense purposes. I think it had something to do with not nearly as many people showing up the first night as the second.

Wow this means no more super ace deciding everything, but also that any team with #3-6 will be prolly way too exhausted to challenge #2 or #1

That's a real shame, I really missed the super ace part, which was epic considering every match in the playoffs with the exception of the finals reached the super ace, which was epic.

Wasnt super ACE that atrocious, even if you were losing both of the other games you could still win that because of it ?

No, but a team could lose one match 0-4 and then come back and win the next match 4-3, and if they won the Super-Ace match then they would still move on despite being 5-7 aggregate.

That can still happen in the new format.

Let's say you win 4-3, lose 4-0, and then win 4-3. You lost 10-8 on aggregate but you win the match.

I guess the same thing can happen in tennis though, and it's nowhere near as bad as the super ace format.

superace was pretty bad. it benefited for teams like hwaseung. we all know who would had been sent out during skt vs hwaseung finals if jaedong did beat fantasy.

Super ace was bad, but I personally think it could have worked out had it become a bo3 instead of a bo1. But 3 bo7s is even sexier, I guess.

super ace was stupid/ proleague is a TEAM league. best player should not auto-win. in bo7 with super ace, if u have the best player, all u need is TWO wins from ur other players.

1-4 (ur best player wins 1)
4-3 (ur best player wins 2, ur other players win 2)
1-0 super ace
u win!!

isnt it now that they will switch between standard Bo7 and WL-style Bo7? (and something like the higher-seeded team chooses which one is played 2 times?)

In the Bo7, is the 7th match an ace match or just a normal 7th match where ace players cant come out twice?

I don't like that the playoffs are best of 7. The entire proleague is best of 5, so it doesn't makes sense that they change that in the finals. It's like adding 20 yards to the field in the superbowl. I don't even like that they play bo3, but I mind it much less than the fact that each match is bo7 because it doesnt fundamentally change how the matches are played.

how about individual leagues that have bo3 in the ro8 but bo5 in the semis/finals?
