There seems to be a lot of overreaction here... Remember that though a ton of names appeared on the list, there are still a lot of very high level progamers (Flash, Baby, Zero, Light, etc.) that have yet to be implicated. This isn't going to kill eSports, it'll just be like the doping scandal in baseball. It will suck, but people will move on.
Savior would be a closer example, especially if he was betting against himself

Baseball is a LOT more established in America than Starcraft in Korea. At the time of the doping scandal, we'd already been playing baseball for like a hundred years, with plenty of big names and famous guys well in the past. There was never a chance that everyone would simply stop playing Baseball.
With Starcraft, we've had like ten years of pro-gaming, and the game's still not nearly as accepted as it could be in Korean society; this, especially with the involvement of such big-name players, could easily destroy all the respect and prestige Starcraft has gained over the last ten years. Plus, we've got Starcraft 2 coming out, with a big pressure to switch games and and abandon Broodwar. You really can't compare the two situations.
(sigh)
But if you remember, in 1919, baseball being relatively young, had a huge scandal just like this: organized crime paying off the players of the Chicago White Sox to throw the games.
i don't see any reason whatsoever to put any blame at all on kespa. they even tried (through private talks according to articles) to stop this, but they (illegal sites) just kept coming back.
if you're going to blame someone with their 'crappy contracts and pay', blame the corporations that own the pro teams.

the crappy contracts are a direct result of the kespa and the lack of a players union/free agency. The contracts wouldnt be even as close to as bad if players were free to move to teams as they wished when their contracts expired.

I think the blame falls on kespa probably playing a part in suppressing the scandal. If its been happening for years, and everyones aware of the betting sites, there is no way kespa wasn't aware of the possible shenanigans. If it comes out that they looked the other way while players were bribed, its going to look REALLY BAD.
So that's it? We're just going to get some rumours and then some people demoted to the B team or retiring early, but we'll never really know if they cheated?
If anyone gets convicted, can the names be released under Korean laws?
Sad days.... I was hoping this was a joke. Can people who live in Korea tell us how big a deal this is in the media/press an stuff? I'd imagine it's getting a lot of attention.

It's illegal in Korea to name names either for implications or actual crimes. There are very few exceptions and those were some of the worst cases imaginable.

Also, isn't KeSPA basically made up of execs from proteams or their sponsors? Like, isn't the current head of KeSPA a guy from SK Telecom? Team management and KeSPA are so intertwined that it seems ridiculous to try to place blame on the one while absolving the other.
Not only that, as the governing body of SC, KeSPA has an obligation to expose things like this when they happen, not sweep them under the rug to keep the profits flowing in. KeSPA may not have directly participated but its failure to do its duty is almost as bad. MLB doesn't have a good record of dealing with scandals IMO, but at the very least Pete Rose and the Black Sox players were publicly investigated and banned from baseball for life.
Effort vs Hogil in today's games. There is no way that game wasn't thrown.
Prime example if there ever was one
God, we have been over this. There is no way people would throw games when they are currently under investigation. I hope you are fucking kidding. Also, Effort cannot throw a game due to the format...
I cannot believe Bisu would throw games, dude has been seeing a pychologist, going on vacation, and especially after Kingdom interview. Seems like he is losing because of mentality and he is trying everything to fix it.
I can see hero throwing games though. 500 apm guy should not be losing that many games. I can see Best throwing games also. I can especially see the twins throwing games. Their win loss streaks are so damn random and unexplainable. Although my heart says no, I can see Stork throwing games as well. There are some games in which his play lacks so much, like he doesn't give a fuck.

Well, theoretically he could throw his game for people betting on Hite over CJ but I agree it is extremely unlikely that he would throw a game right now.
This is all pretty surreal. I can't believe it's only been a couple of days since the rumors broke and now it's getting picked up by Fomos.
It's crazy how second looks at things like this are eerily different. Maybe he was upset about the loss, maybe he was too busy counting the money in his head. :/

You know, I actually meant to write Savior there... I guess I had Luxury on the brain or something. ><
