I just simply cannot imagine the pro gamers we have seen throughout the years do such a thing, although its not confirmed i believe they were forced and put under immense pressure to abide by the illegal betting website people or the previous pro gamers/retired/etc. It just seems out of control that this can happen to any pro gamer at any level of fame/status. I can't put this any other way but to assume that the pro gamers were black mailed/pressured/demoted/bullied and countless other malicious acts of crime. I hope i am right so we can forgive the players we have loved for the little wrong they have done.

Come to think of it, I would really be surprised if it were Stork, just because the guy always looks so devastated whenever he loses; plus, there are all the interviews where he talks about how upset he gets when he loses (drinking, jokingly saying he would drown himself in the river, etc). And all the complaining about map balance. Just in general how "open" and vocal he is in interviews...wouldn't really make much sense if he were losing the games on purpose. But whatever...

We REALLY need a official list...before we all go totally crazy here.

Heh. Luxury: the Pete Rose of eSports.

There seems to be a lot of overreaction here... Remember that though a ton of names appeared on the list, there are still a lot of very high level progamers (Flash, Baby, Zero, Light, etc.) that have yet to be implicated. This isn't going to kill eSports, it'll just be like the doping scandal in baseball. It will suck, but people will move on.

I would think it would be pretty obvious once people start getting kicked off of pro-teams and/or arrested...

Stork is one of those guys, who doesn't give a damn too much anymore. He's the perfect guy to do such sorts of things, lux, yarnc some other guys have this sorts of attitude.

To be honest, if every name on that 'insider-list' turns out to be true, the blow to SC might be fatal. I mean shit, can you imagine if even Jaedong and Stork did it?

I don't think that list can be fully true though. I can't find it in myself to consider some of those names as actual possibilities. On the flip side, that's exactly why its truth would be a death-blow.

if it's players like Leta, sAviOr, Justin (who cares about this guy lol) and the twins, it might not be that bad (yes I did mention sAviOr), but for those who are heading the modern SC scene like Jaedong/Bisu/Stork/BeSt, this is just terrible terrible news.

There will be no official list until arrests have been made. The list that was up on dcinside was a list of names of progamers whose matches are under investigation, NOT a guilty list.

Baseball is a LOT more established in America than Starcraft in Korea. At the time of the doping scandal, we'd already been playing baseball for like a hundred years, with plenty of big names and famous guys well in the past. There was never a chance that everyone would simply stop playing Baseball.

With Starcraft, we've had like ten years of pro-gaming, and the game's still not nearly as accepted as it could be in Korean society; this, especially with the involvement of such big-name players, could easily destroy all the respect and prestige Starcraft has gained over the last ten years. Plus, we've got Starcraft 2 coming out, with a big pressure to switch games and and abandon Broodwar. You really can't compare the two situations.

(sigh)

Yeah, but they really shouldn't cover it up even if it's in such a superficial way. This is the kind of thing which can only heal if it's brought out completely and entirely to the public.

Boxer is definitely not involved. You can see it in his eyes every time he plays, that he's playing for the fans, not money. He does goofy stuff to entertain us.

Yeah man, Boxer invented e-sports. How can you even doubt HIS passion and sincerity and love for ESPORTS, even amongst this? The Emperor plays for the love of the game and the fans, not for the cash.

If you think about it that list has people that have been losing weird ways. It really saddens me to see that list because most of my favorite players are listed. I hope they aren't all convicted and have evidence to clear their name.

Yeah, I agree. The only way that the scene can get past this is to get all the information...

Why would you bring up a recent baseball scandal? Here is a much more analogous event, that I'm pretty sure you can directly compare this to.

This is the saddest news in the long time..

Maybe it will turn out that SC progaming was just another RAW where most stuff was faked just to make it more exciting..

Is this like sports gambling?

maybe I should be specific...

like players are getting payed to throw matches so some illegal sports gamblers can get their money...shit...and with that much of a list? crap....

even our Collegiate Basketball Leagues manage to suppress and actually get people out (players and fans) because of match fixing allegations...for this to happen to sc is just so...sad...

this statement, and the machete wielding smiley, does nothing to lessen the fear i have of russian people.

i always thought ma jaeyoon looked guilty during all his slump/losing times. i thought it was because of his christian guilt from soliciting sex instead of practicing. but, "i am a disgrace to my family and team even though i bought my parents a new apartment" was probably more accurate.

you can't blame these kids... asians in general and specifically those born after 1990 (those from the internet generation) are equally sneaky and greedy, prone to pressure from authority, lacking in any sort of consistent ethics. imagine the smarmy uncle who convinced the kids into doing this.
what sort of sordid tactics did he use, "hey, dongseng, i got 20K for you and your mom. you can fuck my girlfriend first. maestro came on her face. here's a cigar. do what i say..."

why won't Fomos release the names of the suspects? And are we really supposed to believe that no current players are involved in this?

If there were more money in gaming and these guys got more out of what they are putting in this might be less of an issue. I think this is almosst inevitable however unfortunate as savior was one of my favorites. Other competitive industries have suffered similarly why would we think SC would miraculously escape it especially with the growing association with gambling.

This is what happens when you treat players like shit. These guys give everything for a bullshit contract and reduced pay. KeSPA brought this on themselves. This is chickens coming home to roost, that's all.
